#9261 Guns N' Roses » Question about T.W.A.T. Vocal Parts » 943 weeks ago

Hey Folks,

Was just thinking about the various leaks of There Was a Time that have been around for a few years.

As i remember it there is:

* A version pre-bucket  (song finishes after robin's solo) and less emphasis of guitar  in 1st verse.
*  A verison  bucket that runs for 6.02
* A version with Buckethead that goes for 6.45
* A version with bucket that goes 6.46 and has futher industral beats added at the start.

Anyway...my question is to do with Axl's parts.

In the first of the versions above he sings the "I would do anything for you" parts at an insane high pitch after the solo (which is of course in this version at the end). In the latter versions I think he sings the same lines after the robin solo and then again at the end of the song.

My question is - are the vocal parts the same? I don't have the leaks here at my desk unfortunately so i can't tell, but I was chatting with someone who says that in the later leaks they are not sung as high as in the first leaks...like its from a different vocal peformance or they've been mixed out. That is - the lines are still there - but not at the freaky (but awesome)  glass smashing pitch they were orginally.

Can anyone who's listened to them all side by side shed any light on this?

#9262 Re: Guns N' Roses » GNR to tour Brazil in 2008?? » 943 weeks ago

I thought Huge didn't like to tour. Wouldn't it be easier to just get Ron to play Ron's and Finks parts. Then the rest of the line up would be unchanged.

Maybe robin says nothing so he can play both sides.

If we're assuming for a second the theory that he did go the "gamble" approach. That is, that he didn't quit the band, or tell GNR, and is operating on the hope/chance/strong possibility that he can fit in an entire NIN tour while GNR is in dead/dealing/legal/silent mode.  IF he did that - then at the moment a conflict of interest is a non-issue - if GNR got its act together while he is still on tour - then he could decide what to do THEN or for that matter might always plan to go back to GNR...but..

But he can't give a statment reassuring fans now...or it would TIP his hand to Trent...who might think he is back for as long as needed regardless of GNR and Axl. And he could wind up kicked from NIN - which would suck if it turned out GNR was indeed dead the whole time.  Or he can't give a pro NIN statement over GNR - or he'll anger Axl who might kick him or intepret him as leaving GNR...and then he'd be needlessly quitting GNR to do a tour he could have fitted in before GNR go active in 2010 or whatever anyway. So if your him you shut the fuck up and try and do both! And worry about affiliations and loyality if and when he is forced to choose, which only happens if whatever holds up CD is ever fixed.

Just a theory!

Good news.

Fuels the fire that they dont know what robin is planning huh.

Like given how much bad press there always is about the 'revolving door' it would be so easy and benificial to print a one line confirmation that he is still in the band. Except maybe they don't know if he is.

And maybe Robin doesn't know if he will be, he's just trying to bluff his way into doing a NIN tour while Axl is in limbo...will he get away with that gamble or will he be forced to choose...find out in 2009 folks!

#9265 Re: Guns N' Roses » Del James comments on Robins status » 943 weeks ago

Nah i think what it comes down to is the delay is some kind of legal BS between Axl and the Record company. There is no time frame for a resolution. If its deadlocked Axl may not know when it will be fixed, and if he does, he may not have told the band. So that mysteron statement sounded like robin was offered NiN gigs for a while, and is basicly taking the risk that he'll be able to do a NiN tour and get back sucessfully before GNR gets out of whatever deadlock it is in. Based on GNR history - there's a reasonable chance he could. 12 month delays are nothing in the history of this project. If axl becomes ready earlier - then robin will  decide what to do about that conflict of interst when or if it happens.

So i'd take that to mean that Robin is actually still in the band, but that, the band, or at least robin thinks that the band,  is going to do fuck all for another year or so at least.

I think its great that VR are doing this. As it shows they are still working as a unit. It would be very easy for each to go his own way after something like that.

I wouldn't assume the jams will be discarded. We know Fall to Pieces and Slither were around long before scott.

#9268 Re: Guns N' Roses » Robin's Site Updated.. » 943 weeks ago

^ Exactly...and that site you speak of tends to promote tours and side projects of current GNR members such as Dizzy and Tommy and Bumble. And they already labeled a "FALSE:" before the rumour of the reality tv show...implying they've had communication from the band that it is indeed a lie.

So why no communication from the band to them on this issue? Because there is something behind it...either Robin has really left GNR or perhaps he has done this at random without communication and even GNR don't know what his status is. Or is because the band knows there is some long term delay that gives him time to do this and they don't want to announce it.

But bottom line is. If he hasn't left then the band will be dead till 2009 and prob a while thereafter. But the lack of clarrification from the band when they'll get Jarmo to clarrify even small rumours means theres something behind this story I think.

The sad thing is its prob true that there needs to be new strong black leader. Where she looses the plot is that its the governments fault. No - i'd say its the fault of the people killing each other over gun-tough-guy bullshit and music that promotes it.

#9270 Re: The Garden » Candy thieves leave trail of candy wrappers, get arrested » 943 weeks ago

This is harsh.

Like if she'd left the kid behind they'd charge her with neglect. What is she supposed to do - get a sitter while she robs the candy store? wink

I just like that its the trail of wrappers that lead to the hideout....so awesome!
