^ That seems like a very good summary of the situation.
I think a lot of what people will prefer depends on what they want from movies. Like i'm a bit of an audiophille and videophille and so what I really like to see is an absolutely top notch video and audio transfer at very high bit rates. So i want PCM 5.1 at a high rate or DTS-HDMA loseless for my sound!! And I don't want too much noise on the video transfer due to lack of space. These things are especially important to me as I use front projection on a big screen so they get quite obvious when theres an issue. But I'll grant not all users can tell the difference or care about the difference.
Then theres the features thing, I'm not so into features. I don't mind a good feature - but not if i have to sacrifice main-title quality to fit it on. And to me - most of the 1.1 and 2.0 profile features are gimicy. If I want to play a game i'll buy a game - i'm buying these movies for the movie. But again i realise thats just my 2 cents.
The region locking however is a major pain in the ass!

AHh man...that's twice now they've cancelled the shows I had tickets for!
Lets hope slash finds something worthy of his talents to fill the void.
#9374 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » *RUMOUR* - VELVET REVOLVER fires SCOTT WEILAND? » 952 weeks ago
Wow....i wonder what the truth of this is. I can't help but think maybe its wishful thinking on the part of those fans who never liked scott all that much. I doubt the VR boys would fire him if he went to rehab, they are all about rehab these days.
Be interesting to see what becomes of the aussie tour in a few days.

#9378 Re: Guns N' Roses » New OMG Leak ? [False] » 954 weeks ago
I should learn to read.
I missread the title as "OMG new leak" and didn't think of the song "oh my god" but figured it was a new leak of an entirely new song and got all excited.
Then i find out its not a new song but OMG, and its not even a new leak of that but just a clip of a probable fake.
Still I only have myself to blame!

#9379 Re: The Sunset Strip » HEATH LEDGER DEAD » 954 weeks ago
wow...i wonder if this would make the film industry look at their work practises. If actors are getting sick and dying from working 20-24 hour days. There's a culture to do it in the industry to save $....but its not like the studios actually need to save money.
#9380 Re: The Sunset Strip » Slash: Weiland Playing With STP This Summer » 954 weeks ago
If that's what happens. Personally I think a lot of people had never heard of scott till he joined VR, I know in Australia STP are only one of those 'cult' bands that a few people know, but maybe that's just limited to the people i've known. I'm sure there will be a buzz for a while...i just wonder how it will last.
If VR's buzz died because they are too legacy, I can't immagine the buzz of a grunge-era band like STP lasting much longer.
But then i've been wrong before!
