#931 Re: Guns N' Roses » Where do you rate Chinese Democracy among music in the 00's?? » 933 weeks ago

Best album of the decade. That's right, I said it. I'll wait for it's official release, if it ever happens, before I slide it into my Top 5.

Pretty badass tune. I'll be picking up the Coop's new album. It's coming out on vinyl!

This was tough. Ultimately I went with IRS. Rhiad just has too much to offer. I blatantly disagree on Prostitute, but James and I tend to agree on many other, more important matters.

Unmasked is one of my favorite KISS albums and I'm glad to hear someone else support it. Funny you should say so, most of my vinyl for the longest time was KISS. I love them.

And I love Dynasty. That's right. I said it. "Magic Touch." 'Nuff said.

I just bought the new Priest album on vinyl. It was a triple LP set and it couldn't be more badass. Most of my old school metal collection I've painstakingly collected on vinyl. I just love the rich, immediacy of the sound and being able to hold that big piece of artwork while I listen. It's something CDs were too cold to replicate and something the digital age is about to see lost forever. I'm looking forward to these releases and this newfound interest in vinyl.

I'm hoping we get some more concrete lyrics we can all agree on for Prostitute (that's what I call it, you can call it whatever) pretty soon. I'm bringing it in to use during vocal lessons and I'd like to be singing the right words where possible. I know it took us all a few tries to get to a place we generally agreed on for TWAT.

Guns N' Roses is Axl Rose, and in these leaks I see him using any and all means to fulfill whatever strange, brilliant vision he's had for this thing. If it takes session players, so be it.

In their former incarnation, Guns N' Roses could've been the next Rolling Stones. Axl wanted to be the next Queen. It worked. Just release this damn thing soon.

What did you get into GNR for? Was it for synths? Multiple piano ballads about some bird that fucked off 10 years ago?

Yes.

Strange things happen when taking in these leaks, at least for me. While initially I was "disappointed" in track #2 and the (incredibly high) probability that it's the mythic "Prostitute," the song has grown on me so much in repeated listens that it's probably my second favorite of all the leaks behind only "TWAT." I don't understand it. It just is what it is. It rings something for me. I like the lyrics quite a bit, but admit that the "official" lyrics we've got down need some serious detective work.
