There's no doubt he's an incredible guitarist in the same league as those sorts of players.

However I don't think this list is very good for comparing, as while it calculates the speed, it does not really take too much account of the difficulty of the notes being shredded.

Like for example some of them are tapping, some are sweeps, and in different places on the neck and stuff, so looking at the raw speed is meaning less.

#9434 Re: Guns N' Roses » Best Nightrain Solo...? » 958 weeks ago

The solo in nightrain is more modal than most of slash's solos...and so lends itself to a shredder's style..that's why nighttrain is always touted as an example of buckethead owning the bands old material.

Personally although bucket and bumble play it faster, I like the sence of fluidity that is found in the 1992 version.

I always wondered why axl vanished during the last song of that show

This year is all about Indiana Jones to me!

"Slash, Finck, blah. Buckethead blows em all away. He can play circles around them."

I'd agree with that on a technical basis. He can just do fingering they can't do. However I don't think his style suits the early GNR songs, in terms of the feel of the songs. At least that was the impression I had of him in 200x. Awesome guitarist in the wrong band. Although i'll grant he is cool on the new tracks too.

This really is crazy.

On one hand I'm against downloading and agree with buying music and supporting the artist. But once you own the CD you should be able to transfer to another format like mp3 without fear of reprisal. In fact i think you can under Australian law...but its been a while since i looked at it.

#9439 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Slash talks new book, Velvet Revolver plans » 958 weeks ago

^ Yeah...sometimes I wonder if that's the case too. Although timetimes I think its a misguided attempt to suck up to Axl. Like they got some contact with Axl for being positive about the line up originally, so  now do this because they THINK its what he'd want or impress him, but i'd be surprised if he really cared for it, but I could be wrong.

I've noticed tho with Slash and Duff in interviews and stuff, appart from the occasional good-natured joke, they don't tend to react well if people hang too much shit on axl. Like not if its actually nasty shit. I think slash says in his book its ok if he wants to say somehting about Axl cos like he lived through the drama of being in the band with him, but that people who don't know axl or wern't there should shut up.

Mind you...maybe it doesn't go both ways.

It is actually a bit suspect....

Fortus is a pro musican and kinda unlikely to cancel without a good reason i would have thought.

Which makes me think either its GNR or some kind of family reason or something.

I hate to be a wanker and start up inuendo...but in theory if the label did have the album and was planning on a 2008 release a secret NYE show with some new tracks or something would be a cool way to start up a bit of fresh buzz.

Maybe i'm dreaming though!

Someone tell me why i got negative karma for this post. God...sue a guy for having a crazy dream...not like i was saying it was gunna happen and i had info or anything...
