Well, the Alter Bridge & Steel Panther co-headline gig in Sydney tonight was AWESOME!
Steel Panther were hilarious, and Alter Bridge were phenomenal too.

No Slash guest appearance (like he did with Alter Bridge at Soundwave festival on Sunday), but both bands were great.

I gotta admit, I don't really know that many Steel Panther songs, and don't own any albums, but they are such awesome musicians. It's almost a shame they have the whole parody thing going, because their music is killer.

They were hilarious though, and so tight too. I was in stitches from the comedy, and in awe from their musicianship. Their songs ranged from sounding like Bon Jovi, Def Lepard, and Van Halen, all with big singalong choruses about fucking and getting pussy.

Alter Bridge were tight as hell, and Myles is ever so humble for how awesome they are. They played all the hits, and more.
Myles and Mark Tremonti did a guitar duel thing during the show, and man, Myles sure can shred. I was really impressed.

Both bands were very gracious about the warm welcome they got too, even Steel Panther. For a comedy act, they were still really appreciative of the positive feedback they got from the crowd.

Fuck, I'm still pumped. Best rock gig I've been to this year so far!:mosh:

Yeah...I've been thinking for ages that it's a shame it's all for laughs. I guess it's because they're too self conscious to make real 80s style rock these days. But it drives me nuts cos the lead player can shred, the singer has metal chops in his voice - but then they write these (admittedly funny) songs about porn and stuff that makes most people I know turn it off. I know two girls who like most rock but wont listen to it because they think it's puerile humour...which is odd...write a legit song about fucking and it's ok...but then write a comedy song and they're like "so pathetic".

Oh awesome....I've noticed from the CDs that Tremonti has some chops...can't wait to see him shred it with myles...sounds badass! Hope they do it tonight too!

^ I always liked Tremonti's guitar stuff, ashame he was in Creed with that awful Eddie Vedder ripoff. Steel Panther is skilled and tight.  Listening to the singer with Pink in that first video shows he can turn it off & on like a switch.

That is so ironic, I agree. I went back and re-listened to Creed's catalog to give them a second chance after all these years of shitting on them, then went and listened to Alter Bridge for the first time, and i'm blown the fuck away at the comparison of jumping from Creed's "Weathered" to AB's "One Day Remains".

Not so much at one being better than the other, but hearing Mark Tremonti just fucking AWESOME on the guitar. My ears were cumming.

My next question is...

WHERE IN THE FUCK WAS THIS STUFF IN CREED?

Several of their songs could've actually used and been improved by Tremonti showing off on the guitar. Who stopped it? Stapp? The record company? Did Tremonti suddenly find it post-Creed? What the fuck happened?

It could've been Stapp, but Creed's reunion album "Full Circle" featured more of Tremonti being like the Creed version, but with more openness to doing his guitar thing.

I can't remember the exact tracks, but there were a couple songs on Creed's newest album that actually were post-grunge songs featuring guitar solos. Most bizarre thing. 16
