Were Skid Row big in the states? Growing up here I knew more about Skid Row from Bach on TV shows talking about other bands than their actual music.

Debut album went to #6 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. "18 and Life" went to #11 on the pop singles chart and "I Remember You" went to #6 on the pop singles chart. The album sold 5 million copies in America, which is huge. GN'R Lies sold the same amount to give perspective. Not many hair metal acts managed to go 5 times platinum with a single album. Motley Crew's most successful album Dr. Feelgood "only" sold 6 million and Appetite sold 18 million to give full perspective. Skid Row's second album Slave to the Grind debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart and sold 2 million copies in America.

Beyond their success with actual music, Skid Row's biggest claim to fame is that Sebastian Bach is one of the very few musicians who managed to gain Axl's trust. Sebastian's former bandmates are fucking idiots if they flush their chance down the drain to open for GN'R this summer because of some petty squabble with Bach.

Not many bands have had a debut album and a follow-up album right after as strong as Skid Row did.  The debut album and Slave to the Grind are really good albums.  I think Bach would be all over reuniting and opening up...the other guys in the band must not need any money at all and invested those early advances in Cisco stock back in the day lol.

Alice in Chains were a fantastic opener.   I know some can't get past that its a different singer, but he really sounds a lot like Layne on some of the old stuff.. and their new stuff holds up well against the old stuff.   Get them again if possible.

Soundgarden would be an equally awesome choice.   i saw them when they opened for NIN a few years back, although they had a guest drummer.

The Skid Row thing is interesting.   They play small ass casinos here in Vegas every now and then.  Never saw them.   The first 2 albums have some great rock songs.    Its better than a lot of the stuff out today, anyway.     But doesn't seem like they are willing to bring back Sebastian.

Some Skid Row fans have speculated over the years that it may not be petty but instead is something very personal....such as Baz having an affair with a gf/spouse or vice versa. People started wondering this back when Baz basically became the band's permanent opener 10 years ago. Skid Row had a huge reason to make up with Baz back then as well...their career was burnt toast. Baz was open to it....he still is. Now more than ever. They wont budge.

Awhile back a reunited Skid Row were offered a major slot at some Euro festival for a nice chunk of change. Skid Row declined and Baz was livid. If they wont do it now then it will never happen. You can pretty much guarantee its either been offered or will be offered and GNR using The Cult as openers and wheeling Baz out in vegas shows that to be the case.

Plenty of people wondered if Slash fucked Stephanie back in the day considering how much Axl hated him at one point. If those guys can bury the hatchet, Skid Row should be able to as well.

I am thinking if the shows sell out just with the GN'R name, they should just let The Cult be the opener for the tour. It's a good fit musically and would be a good full circle for both bands.

Sebastian Bach is a bigger draw than a Skid Row without him.    He did well as the opener in 2006.

Alice In Chains & The Cult are good opening acts, some good songs with musical credibility.

Skid Row / Sebastian Bach on the other hand , are / is a fucking travesty of the highest order.

If anybody here has the bandsintown app, it's pretty clear that most summer tours have been finalized (also that Slash and the conspirators are playing a lot of stadiums haha)

So it needs to be a band with no current plans, and I hate to say it again, but AIC makes just too much sense. They are a draw, but not enough of a draw to detract from GnR. Literally the perfect sized/dated act.
