i've sensed that this forum and HTGTH are kinda dead these days. i haven't looked closely, so i could be WAY off, but it seems the volume of posting is down.

coincidentally, i have not been checking gnr sites very much at all the last few months. whereas before, i would check this site and HTGTH every day. usually mutiple times.

but i figured out why that is.....i realized that i got a really good "fix" of GnR in the last 6+ months. i saw them four times - 2 at larger venues and 2 at small venues. and the last show at the electric factory in Philly was such a fuckin high. i think i had been seeking that for years. basically seeking a GnR show that i know Axl is capable of - one that legitimately compares with the great shows i saw with prior lineups in the late 80s and early 90s. my friends that were there still e-mail me things they remember about the show and how great it was. and they played philly! which basically addressed one of the dark moments for this band.

this sounds silly, but in a way, i found some inner peace with the band i have so much passion for. all my friends and family think of me when they think of gnr or axl (as i'm sure many of you are in the same boat). and for years there was a ton of negativity surrounding the band. but essentially all my close friends and family  (including my 68 year old dad) went to one of the shows and great times were had by all. the perception of Axl is far more positive today than it was a year ago. and as my skeptical friend Tom said: "Axl fuckin did it. he's the greatest. one of the best shows i've ever seen."

anyway, i waited for years for CD. i HAD to hear it. and we got it. then i wanted the legitimate tour post-CD. again, we had to wait. but it finally came and they fuckin nailed it. great show, great production, great sound, great setlist (estranged?!?!?!). i loved the shows in 2006, and Axl may have sounded slightly better, but there was still something missing. in 2011-2012, they were fuckin on! like i said, those shows are on par with the old days. and we even got a TV interview from Axl. plenty of evidence to suggest they are doing things the "right" way.

so now, there's nothing all that controversial to talk about. i'm hoping for a new album, but i don't need it. and at this point, it's not even really overdue (considering they were delayed in touring after the last release and are very active at this point).

not sure if this really relates to this topic or not, but figured i'd mention my decreased time on gnr sites. maybe others feel the same way. like someone else said, there are less questions/issues with this band since they have been active and operating somewhat like a normal band. as a result, there is less speculation and less to discuss.

but as for this forum, it is a great place to discuss GnR and anytime i am looking for information on anything gnr related, it is good to know i can come here and read everything with no filters!

I've been involved in the gnr internet thing since the early 90's and the old aol newsgroups.  That being said though, ever since the album was released, my interest in the band has dropped like a lead balloon.  Because of the loss of interest and having a lot more shit to do in my life, I really don't post / log on as much as I used to.

When i do log in / creep on the site, its almost never because of GnR.  I log in because of the people and the history I have with a lot of you guys on the board.  The actual GnR discussion section of this place is usually last on the list of my things to look at.

EDIT:  Awesome post Sandman

Sorry for the late reply, been busy. Read everyone's thoughts and pretty much agree with everyone and like Russ, it's good to see everyone kinda "gets it" as to what's going on right now. Axl squashed the reunion, there's no new album, so literally who cares? There's literally no reason to get excited about the band, and they've kinda plateued in what they're doing.

Totally agree with that assessment, that pretty much everyone had in this thread.

I try to stay up with all of this, but with my interest being less, it's hard and i've found myself taking my rock music appreciation and placing it on other artists. The Cult & Slash recently. Van Halen earlier in the year. There's also a shit ton of new music coming down the pike for the rest of this year also. That way my music appreciation fix is quenched, without placing blame or hatred on Guns N' Roses for not giving it to me.

Unfortunately not much will change with GN'R talk UNTIL THEY FUCKING DO SOMETHING. Just the facts. This board will be nothing but redundant arguments over and over about the same stuff, until something actually new happens. Sorry, but that's the sad truth.

In the mean time i'll talk other music, other artists, and try to keep the interest there. I'm fine with that, and the off-topic sections are great.

I wanted to seperate this part to tell you guys all something very personal.

And I mean this from my heart...

GN'R Evolution has not just been an Evolution about Guns N' Roses. That's not what the 'Evo' means.

It's us

The Evolution of US. You guys here, know me more as a person, than my own friends do. My so-called friends. For years I proclaimed "internet friends to not be real friends", but thing is, the reality is, you are.

I literally have NO friends that dig music the way I do, or you guys do. I have no one to take to a Guns N' Roses show, that will enjoy it the way I do. That if I turn around and review it, and you guys get it (or slam me for 20 pages), regardless... you're talking about it.

You guys understand more about me, than people in my everyday lives. I have no other musical outlet to talk about the things I love, a musical experience that is almost spirtual for me. With all of the highly intelligent, highly passionate, fair-minded, logical people here... I wouldn't have that. And for that, i'll be forever grateful.

And like BLS said, we have our arguments, but I don't think anyone here means truely hurtful feelings. One time I got Neemo to flip on me, and I never even got mad, because I wanted the dude to be honest. He probably hated my guts, but that's what I wanted out of him. That's the beauty of this place. Even when we cuss somebody out and tell them to go fuck themselves, it's with such a passion, that you can't help but respect it and validate it. You can't get that ANYWHERE.

What is GN'R Evolution?

We are GN'R Evolution. How? Every person here, came from somewhere else. Whether longtime poster, or longtime lurker, or both, we all were on another board.

And we all found our way to Evo.

Why?

Because we are apart of the Evolution of what is the righteous, true, honest, intelligent, well versed, philsophical Guns N' Roses.

WE are the Evolution. For we have come full circle. Evo is the best, the brightest, the most honest, the most passionate, the most loving, and the front line of everything it means, should mean, and SHOULD BE to be a fan of Guns N' Roses.

We are the Special Forces of Guns N' Roses fans.
