Maybe this is part of an intentional push to get their brand out there so they can be seen as the professional management group that they are.

Marketing & Album Release Strategies - State of the art website, music videos, proof reading and quality control of artwork, bonus issues, live DVD's/Blu Rays, demos, bonus tracks. You name it they do it.
Knowledge Management - they will keep you functioning like a normal band. Fans, promoters & the record label will always know WTF is going on.

You're gonna be waiting a very loooooooooooooooong time for those results.
A corporation vs a team of hacks. Anyone waiting on those results should spend their spare time looking for the fountain of youth or at least sleeping in one of those oxygen chambers like MJ did.

I don't really see the big deal with this.
And here's word from the manager, via the "official" forum.
That site was simply made to keep the domain alive. It doesn't mean anything. Checking reports from our admin to see how to better gnr.com.

I agree it's no big deal, I was just taking the piss out of it.
I thought you can keep a domain name alive as long as you register it, you don't need to physically have something at the address? If the site doesn't mean anything does that mean the newsletter you can sign up for doesn't mean anything either?

You can park a domain in a bunch of places without setting up a site like that.
I actually find the second part of his answer more curious.
Does it mean they set up a bogus site with groundcontrol to monitor the statistics groundcontrol give them from the main GNR site?
