Fuckin" A....

I went on a major asian horror kick in the mid-late 00s during the height of my addiction. Some of those movies blew my mind. Unfortunately I don't remember 99.9% of them.

Before the Devil Knows You're Dead
There Will Be Blood
The Martian
Let Me In
Arrival
Hereditary
MI: Rogue Nation
Funny Games
Wolf of Wall Street
The Irishman
Rocky Balboa

I'll add a few more later.

Edit

Calvaire
A Tale of Two Sisters
Shutter
Interstellar

Love me some Asian flicks. They still have that magic in the story telling that Hollywood seems to have abandoned. Special shout out to the Korean movie industry. Those folks put out some cracking movies.

There was an obscure Asian slasher flick that completely blew my mind. I don't remember the name. I should try to find it.

When Hollywood started remaking the 80s slasher classics, I was hoping they would call that director.

You're right... Hollywood lost it's way. That's why I started diving into foreign horror.

I really should rediscover those classics.

Ever watched Visitor Q? What a mind fuck. Even though the US was drowning in reality Tv culture, we never could've made a film like that.

Never seen it, but will watch it soon, thanks for the recommendation.
That is what I love about foreign movies, story comes first and a lot of the movies are original stories. Hollywood is just retelling stories we've already had in some shape or form, over reliance on special effect too.  Sick to death of superhero movies.

It never deserved to become the craze that it did.

It's also garbage....high budget laziness that has to be completely sterile to bring in the Chinese dollars.

Fans of the genre should've boycotted in the hopes that they bring it down a notch and maybe take a different approach.

It also helped ruin the industry. There's not much room for big budget blockbuster drama, horror, or comedy in theaters anymore. Hell... there's barely room for normal action movies although I believe that genre has been ruined as well.

I don't think the industry will ever truly recover from it.... just like how the music industry never recovered from going all in on rap in the late 90s.

You can't put all your eggs in one basket like that without consequences.

I still haven't watched it.

I need to move it up my queue.

I even rewatched the original when 2049 came out...
