I had forgot this even happened until last night....

That's awesome. It's essentially the pop world's Axl/DC of 1999. Deserved more attention.

What could've been. Crowd is insanely into it.

This could've been a genuine comeback for both Darby and INXS. I wonder what happened.

Hell....Darby himself is a huge what could've been. Should've been massive through the 80s-90s but let his ego destroy his career.

This was his second chance.

The Cardigans - Erase/Rewind

They should've been even bigger. They're pretty much regarded as a one Hit wonder here in the US.

Keyboard  player just died today.

It means everyone in that classic lineup is now dead.

Damn, who needs guitar?

I was never much into classical music. Like most of our age I suppose. And to be honest I don't think this is representative of what classical music is either. This work to my estimation should not exist. Beethoven made 8 symphonies before this and the ninth pisses on all of them. It's the equivalent of GN'R making Def Leppard type records all their career, then in their mid 50s they suddenly release Appetite.

There's no other classical artist that could have inspired Beethoven to do this either. It's just him and this one work. Bach, Mozart, they never reached these heights. Not even close. I listen to this and it is peak music. From another world. Before if you asked me to name the best music ever made I would be lost in a sea of possible choices. No more. God himself was on drugs when he inspired Ludwig to compose this. And he was deaf too? It's almost supernatural.

This is much better quality but I couldn't get it to preview:

I never got into it neither. I probably should listen to a variety before I'm dead.

Some of it is impressive. Don't remember song titles but they've used some great music in various war documentaries.

It's amazing when you look back at the world during that era...and before it. How did pop culture flourish in such primitive times?

Reminds me of those  concession stands in ancient stadiums/cities. Makes sense though....while watching gladiators get mauled by lions...the crowds gotta eat. 16

The 70s had a great variation in entertainment. It was the "in between" decade where the old structures were dying and they tried a lot of new things before the corporations started buying everything in the 80s. Just look at the variety of films they made back then. Granted a lot of them were shit, but just a massive variety compared to the 60s. Music had a ton of subgenres coming up. Prog, punk, disco, reggea, hard rock, space rock, heavy metal. Lot of bands doing new things.

Was on YouTube watching/listening to a variety of songs. They threw some random stuff in my feed... including Gloria Estefan/ Miami Sound Machine.

Brought back a ton of memories. I wound up listening to a handful of their hits.

She was huge back then. Looked at wiki and I was shocked that her hit album Cuts Both Ways only sold 4 million copies. I guess she's one of those artists where the sales don't really match up with how much attention she got.

Either way...she's kinda slipped through the cracks of pop culture over the years. You never really hear anything about her anymore. I checked and she still works but obviously it's much more low key.

I remember jerking off to that video in junior high. Funny...I don't see what exactly got my juices flowing....maybe that leather outfit.

Funny how kids of today need hardcore porn yet back in the day we'd get hot just watching some videos or looking at magazines.

Another example is this Elton John video....

I fell in love with the woman in this video. Thankfully MTV played it a shit ton for a month or so.

Never found out her name. Always hoped to see her in something else.
