Not that DJ is a 'big name' but before he was in GN'R he had done writing for Motley, wouldn't surprise me if he was shopping around songs to them before he joined. I did hear a rumour years ago that Joe leste from Bang Tango and Beautiful Creatures (Ashbas old band) may have sent songs to them but never heard anymore about it. 'Big names' however makes me think maybe Desmond Child

I will get around to reading this in March, can I ask are the leaks mentioned at all?

They are, but not really any new information about any of them
