Names have been taken out of the people's e-mails to protect privacy.

14 This just gets more and more ridiculous. Maybe this guy should discover girls...much more fun than creating hoaxes for "acceptance" at GNR forums.  Then again...he has a chance with hoaxes, girls may be another thing for hilm.

STP is a good band from their era with some great songs.   But Weiland pales in comparison to other guys from his era like Layne Staley, Chris Cornell, even Eddie Vedder.

I agree, he's good but that group is GREAT.  Scott tried way to hard to look/sound like Layne when STP (or Mighty Joe Young in reality) started, much moreso than sounding like Eddie Vedder.  I have some pics where he even died his hair to look exactly like Layne's, sideburns and all.  I do feel by the second album (Purple) Scott came into his own more and a few albums later definitely had his own sound.  While I can't honestly say I like STP as much as Alice, Soundgarden or Pearl Jam I can honestly say they are one of my favorite "90's bands" and I like quite a bit of their music.  Scott with VR hasn't done much for me but I would love to get my hands on some new STP music.  I think they still have gas in the tank if Scott can just not go out like Layne did, that's one imitation I hope Scott will pass on.

***I was just listening to "Big Empty" and I have to say that I actually like STP fairly close to both Pearl Jam and Soundgarden.  I'd forgotten how much I liked these guys...but NOONE compares to Alice in Chains for the best group from the 90's!! (ok...they actually started in the late 80's but so did Nirvana for that matter, and Mother Love Bone was the real root of Pearl Jam and they started in the late 80's as well!! 13)

It would be very easy to rip this apart and I could write a very long page pointing out error after error after error but I'll make it brief.

I'm just going to focus on two general problems with this idiot's pathetic excuse to try and fool lesser minded members of the community.  The first is just an observation and the second is the real nail in the coffin that not only shows beyond the shadow of a doubt the guy is a fake but also that he is a total idiot.

The general observation is the tone of the letter.  It is obviously written by someone who is a fan of GNR with tons of excitement about CD coming out at some point.  This letter goes on and on about "finally" being released, what a monster hit its gonna be, yadda yadda yadda.  Also he goes on and on about stuff that forum members/fans are only interested in reading.  Things like the original plans, tracklists, touring, etc etc.  Stupid...noone outside of we fans gives a rats ass about this shit.

The nail in the coffin is due to his ignorance toward the Public Domain law and copyrights.  Axl DOES NOT have to go through a lengthy process to get the rights to use bits of Martin Luther King's speech for a simple reason...this speech was NEVER copyrighted.

This speech has been through years of court cases to determine if it was ever copyrighted. The United States court system finally laid down their rulings (I forget what year) that this speech had never been copyrighted, since at that time it was required to post a copyright notice on printed copies to be distributed, and this speech was distributed without such an extra (C) Copyright notice as was then required in the US. The US revised this law in 1989, an no longer requires such notice.

Buzzsaw it really does effect you on a personal level when you've been at the same site a thing like this happens.  I didn't attend Virginia Tech (I went to the University of Virginia instead) but I had been there and in the area more than once.  It truly saddens you to have something like this steal a piece of your fond experiences.

Last night they were saying (on CNN at one point) that 7 were dead, this morning I heard six and now I'm hearing five.  Anyone know for sure?

#836 Re: The Garden » 5 shot dead, including gunman, at Northern Illinois University » 952 weeks ago

It's up to 7 dead now.

I don't think the cash crunch has anything to do with it.  We are all sick of the high gas prices, elevated food costs, less disposable income and so forth but let's face it...we aren't really hurting as bad as we would like everyone to think.  We all have our creature comforts, electronic gadgets, and etc.  Don't get me wrong we definitely have to fix the economy before the problem grows but I'm just saying that we aren't exactly "doing without" either.  People attending Universities generally come from middle-class homes anyway.  I doubt the guy was that bad off.

The problem is that people with mental illnesses are slipping through the cracks of our public school system.  There has to be more attention to these needs at this level if we are going to try and control this problem.

The other problem is the media.  When the VT students occured there were times that the media was acting like he was the true victim moreso than the innocent lives he took.  I don't know how many times they read his "farewell note" but it was disgusting.  He basically had his dream come true by having his words immortalized for every other future sicko to draw from, just as he had looked to the Columbine shootings before.  The media worked it as much as possible in order to get ratings regardless of potential results.  I wouldn't be surprised to find out that this shooter was "inspired" by the treatment the media gave the VT shooter.

I hate to see this happen again.  My community hasn't even gotten over the Virginia Tech shootings yet.
