#81 Re: Guns N' Roses » Perhaps (2023) to Drop » 108 weeks ago

Sorry to rain on everyone’s parade here, but I just feel like the release of Perhaps is a summation of everything that is wrong with GN’R today. Axl in control of everything, hence the song only has one verse and one chorus repeated, then Slash phones it in for the solo, then they put out an actual accompanying video that looks pretty damn good, even though the song itself is pretty average, and still they haven’t actually acknowledged the release or even said anything officially. It’s like they just let the hardcore fans look into it all and find out about it ourselves. It’s either genius marketing from Team Brazil, or completely shithouse marketing. And I’m leaning towards shithouse…

Well… let’s see how they fuck that up too… big_smile

I want to hear that Back and Forth Again demo with Axl whistling.

The way he whistles over that guitar in the Making of Estranged doco, it could’ve been GN’Rs next Patience type of song. Shame it never turned out like that

More fucken Scooby Doo shit. Only in the world of GN’R does a new song appear on a random fucken jukebox instead of released properly. Fucken shitcunts

Maybe. How long ago was this screenshot?

And it could just be some generic “lucky numbers”

No, it was definitely a countdown clock. I remember the timer changing when the link was originally live.

I’d rather get the stuff they were working on briefly in 1996 before Slash left, that Axl described as the 1996 version of Aerosmith’s Rocks.

They should leave these reheated Chinese leftovers in the fridge or put them in the bin

Correct me if I’m wrong, but did that song also appear in a Pepsi commercial?

And yeah, I remember it blatantly being about giving a guy head. And the film clip being set in a church certainly didn’t help her cause.

Hard to believe how controversial her SEX book was back then too. Seems like nothing in this day and age of ready available porn, but it was quite a big deal. Anyone here happen to get their hands on a copy of it?

I guess it would be like a fairly clean cut pop star like Taylor Swift putting a graphic book out about what she likes to do beneath the sheets…

That's the very first I hear of '99 Times'. Is it on YouTube somewhere?

I dont think so. Was going to PM you this but i'll leave it here incase anyone else wants a listen. They never recorded it apperently, i only ever heard this boot which i tried to boost and improve a bit a while back. It looks like it became that SMCK song but I much prefer Rod Jacksons voice

There are others like Dry Jack but i dont have them laying around. They may have become SMCK tunes as well

Thank you so much! Does indeed sound much superior to what Myles made out of the song!.

I had a look on setlist.fm. Looks like other unreleased songs are Dry Jack, like you mentioned, as well as Holiday Smile (played only once), I Left My Soul, Break You, and Sorry I'm Wrong

Quite surprising. Would be interesting to hear them and see what else they might have become..

Break You was the original title for Back to the Moment

Havent listened to SMKC for a while but i just checked and your clearly right. Hmmm wonder if I could salvage Rod Jacksons vocals and put them on there. The song seems quite different to the Snakepit one but it's clear from the intro what it used to be.

Thanks for the link. I had that recording years ago, so it’s nice to hear it again. Love the solo Slash played in 99 Times. Shame he didn’t play it like that for Stone Blind.

Dry Jack is another one I remember from that time played live as well.

The live version of Back to the Moment was killer too. It sounds a bit dull on the album, but when they played it live before the album came out, it sounded great. I think it’s one of Slash’s best guitar melodies since Estranged.
