Coachella 2016 Weekend 1: April 15, 16, 17. Coachella 2016 Weekend 2: April 22, 23, 24

The headliners for Coachella 2015 were ACDC, Jack White and Drake, so were are looking for one rock band to headline this festival.

What do we know.

We know Guns N'Roses are doing something (open to interpretation possibly). This was confirmed by Fernando in August to the forums http://www.gunsnrosesfans.com/post/1259 … few-months

We know Ken Fermaglich would be involved in booking this festival. Ken works for The Agency Group http://www.theagencygroup.com/agent/ken-fermaglich/

We know the Agency Group are linked to Coachella and have Guns N' Roses on their festival roster. Please note Coachella to the left, and Guns N' Roses to the right http://www.theagencygroup.com/fairs-festivals/

We know Paul Tollett of Goldenvoice has a standing offer of 8 million dollars for a reunited GN'R to appear at Coachella http://www.musictimes.com/articles/1874 … adline.htm

Travelgrom who predict 60-70% percent of Coachella correctly are currently predicting GN'R will headline the festival. http://www.travelgrom.com/coachella-2016-lineup. Historically, rumoured headliners in December have tended to be correct. http://www.musictimes.com/articles/1874 … adline.htm

A leaked festival list on Inforoo forum during the last week of September mentions Guns N'Roses as a provisional headliner. Other headliners, Calvin Harris and LCD Soundsystem, also look likely to play the festival. Adele is a possible late addition.

We have ruled out 90% of bands that would be direct competition (including Iron Maiden and Pearl  Jam) headlining Coachella, either direct from the bands themlselves, due to the radius clause in the Coachella contract, or because there is no space in their tour diary

Slash has gone from talking openly about GN'R in May http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/slash- … say-never/, to refusing to talk about GN'R reforming in October http://www.nme.com/news/guns-n-roses/89361 to avoiding friends altogether (along with Duff) http://www.stitcher.com/podcast/let-there-be-talk. People close to Slash and Duff (mainly Slash) have intimated they believe there is a silence clause in place.

The wall of silence, which has been a growing factor over the weeks, is indicating AEG are the main promoter involved with GN'R. Other US venues are an unknown at this stage. The band may revisit The Roxy, owned by Goldenvoice, in some capacity.

65% is not that great. A qualified guess. And GN'R is unpredictable like no one else. In the description they too are relying on rumors and insiders for their info.

Would be great exposure for them of course. Do a few of these in the summer time then a world tour in 17. Soon is the word if there's any truth to all of this.

I agree.

It is about building a picture, and so far the one negative outweighs the positives.

If we can dismiss Coachella, we can then move onto the next rumour

The picture is looking a lot more positive than the last few years, that's for sure.

With all this buzz it'd be extremely anti climatic for Axl to announce anything but a reunion (meaning the return of Slash). If they had been a well run band the silence would be all but confirmation something was up. Should have been denied immediately when the rumors started popping up if there was no plans at all.

Alas they are not that well run, so who knows.

If we can dismiss Coachella then IMO Lolla can just as easily be dismissed. Actually easier to dismiss.

I still think its in play even with these cons. I absolutely cannot picture Maiden doing it. Coachella jumps the hipster shark if that's announced.

Coachella wants bang for the buck and if its not GNR, who?  I'd put Metallica or the Stones way ahead of Maiden but I doubt that's happening. IF its Maiden then every major act must have declined.

KISS
Journey
Muse
The Cure
Springsteen

I would imagine those have a chance as well.

So, Maiden are a safe, boring option.

Kiss - A possibility. Have US tour dates start of 2016
Journey - A possibility. Have US tour dates starting in May
Springsteen - A possibility. On the cuff of starting another US tour
The Cure - Unlikely, although they are touring the US, there are not alot of gaps in their schedule.
Muse - Unlikely. Headlined in 2014, will be in Europe during that time

Not that its safe but would come out of left field. Pick a random hipster and ask them to name 100(or even 200) bands they would want to headline Coachella and Maiden gets nowhere near it. If Maiden factors in then one of the other slots will have to be a big enchilada.

I wouldn't rule out The Cure. Forgot about Muse doing it before although MIA did it twice.

Thanks for the insight Splat. .. would be cool to see something materialize out of all these rumors

On the flip side ...I wonder how the fan base would react if the 2002 lineup showed up at the festival 16 just to throw a complete fucking monkey wrench in the reunion mix

As long as CD II was rolled out before the tour I would be perfectly fine with an 02 reunion but I feel the ship sailed on that era. Its been 13 years. You can sandwich TWO AFD-TSI eras into that time frame.

The provisional headliners for Coachella were supposedly leaked at the end of September to someone on the Inforoo forum, and they were Guns N' Roses, LCD Soundsystem and Calvin Harris. This person has apparently been correct before with festival information. If you search Google, you will see a few forums picked up on it.

The line-up is prone to change, and Adele is being talked about now as a replacement for one of them.

I will look into the other two headliners to see if there is any truth to any of it
