I think Pence made the decision along with consultation w/Pelosi and McConnell and Schumer.  That a good sign.

And Trump doesn’t have to be removed, but as is now w/mostly everyone deserting him, he has no clout or power and that’s a good thing.

As far as the Trump kids running in 2024, I bet the GOP will want someone who is normal.  And I get the feeling will come out + he may get indicated in NY for financial crimes.  The name will be radioactive in 2024.

They were definitely consulted(had to be) but for Pence to somehow acquire power would require cabinet members and/or the military (Joint Chiefs).

I think something unconventional happened. Trump could contest the 25th which takes it to Congress.

That didn't happen...not publicly anyways.

It'll be interesting to see how it unfolds in the coming days.

As far as the GOP wanting someone normal, they wanted someone normal in 2016.

It's time to cut the cord.

Trump will not go to jail. It's political fanfiction. I won't even entertain the idea. He'll serve his prison sentence in the same prison where Bush and Hillary are serving theirs.

It would require something catastrophic to lead down that road.

Trump pledges 'orderly' transition after riot and Biden win certification

CNN) President Donald Trump publicly acknowledged that he would leave office on January 20 for the first time Thursday, pledging an orderly transfer of power after Congress affirmed President-elect Joe Biden's Electoral College win.

"Even though I totally disagree with the outcome of the election, and the facts bear me out, nevertheless there will be an orderly transition on January 20th," Trump said in the statement, repeating false claims he has made throughout the last two months. "I have always said we would continue our fight to ensure that only legal votes were counted. While this represents the end of the greatest first term in presidential history, it's only the beginning of our fight to Make America Great Again."
Trump, who has refused to concede the election, had on Wednesday egged on supporters who would later storm the US Capitol in an attempt to stop lawmakers from counting the electoral votes. The riot left four people dead -- one woman was shot and three others had medical emergencies, according to police -- and left some in Trump's Cabinet holding preliminary talks about invoking the 25th Amendment to remove him from office, according to a well-placed GOP source.
After a speech filled with lies and misrepresentations that incensed the crowd, Trump returned to the White House to watch a violent crescendo to his constant spreading of misinformation about the electoral process. The mob broke into the Capitol, stormed both the House and Senate floor and Trump supporters could be seen lounging in House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office.
A woman was shot and killed in the chaos. Police have yet to release more details about her death.
Republicans and Democrats alike condemned the rioters for breaching the US Capitol, and several lawmakers blamed Trump for the violence that broke out that delayed the certification of Biden's victory for several hours.
In remarks Wednesday afternoon, Biden called on Trump to appear on national television "to fulfill his oath and defend the Constitution and demand an end to this siege."
On Wednesday night, undeterred by the violence and the threats, lawmakers returned to the House chamber to continue counting the votes.
Trump did not say in his statement whether he plans to attend the inauguration of Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris on January 20.

That was atrocious. Awful. 25th ammendment needs to be invoked. Trumps gonna bomb Iran if he can on his way out. Get him out now. report last night was 'he was out of his mind' and enjoying the coup early on and had to be talked otherwise. I think he literally is not going to stop on this rigged election hoax.

It was inevitable it would end this way. I've said this for 5 1/2 years, the day he said what he said about John McCain, he shouldn't have been president. The guys an ass & an idiot.

Where else could the cult members go? Entire news organizations are morphing to fit his ideology...websites are being created to feed into conspiracy and falsehood.

These people will stand by their cult leader no matter what.
