#111 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Steven Adler OWNS all new GNR drummers » 911 weeks ago
He's certainly not youthful now!
At the time there was something fun about him - he was just like a naiive kid having fun living his dream.
I didn't even notice Ferrer at the 3 concerts I went to. He was simply a homogenous drummer to me.
This is so true. Steven back in the day definitely had a smile on his face alot [probably because he was wasted] but still, you can't deny his presence at all. He worked with the audience and was charasmatic. It's hard to compare any members of GNR now to the older members because to me it's apples and oranges.
I surely hope that Dr. Drew can help him. Watching Celebrity rehab really lets you see just how sick Steven is. His mother gave him up at birth, she gave him to his grandmother to bring up. That alone can do so much damage to a kid and not to mention that when he finally did go live with her, she didn't want him there and packed his bags and put them on the front lawn. That's why he's so addicted, he started really early and just fell deeper and deeper into it. Getting kicked out of GNR was devastating to him to the point of not wanting to live anymore, thus fueling his drug habit even more to the point of a stroke. I think it's terrible what happened to him because you can see just what a sensitive and caring guy he really is.

i dont care who is releasing albums. for christ sake, the album was done, and they release it the week of black friday. when the hell are they supposed to release it?
its a good thing bands like metallica and acdc have released records recently. interest in rock music is higher than it has been in a while.
I agree.
I think for the most part this album has promoted itself, not in the traditional way but everyone's heard of Chinese Democracy and now that it's out there, even if Axl isn't promoting the way a band usually goes about it, it's still going to retain interest.
Hell according to Soundscan predictions this album isn't going to do too bad it's first week
"This development comes on the heels of a report released Monday by "Hits Daily Double," which claims Chinese Democracy is on pace to scan anywhere between 300,000 and 500,000 copies; that figure also includes a reported 25,000 iTunes downloads."
I personally think 2002 would have been a terrible time. Axl wasn't on his game at all and it showed at the VMA's. I think 2006 would have been the best time but now is just a good a time as ever.

After listening again this morning, I am thinking it's to Slash, Duff or anyone that has talked about him to the press, on tv shows, etc and also to the fans. Certain lyrics to them and certian lyrics to us.

i dont think he's crazy or stupid...but i do feel the album is very melancholy, but just cuz he wrote sad songs doesnt mean hes always in that state of mine...think of a song like a snapshot of a particular point in his life
Agreed and plus most of the best songs ever written come from very deep or troubled emotion. If I had to guess, I'd say Axl is probably at the most stable time of his life now then ever before. Sure he may still hold a candle to either one or both of the deep loves of his life [Erin or Stephanie]. Most of us still think about that one person that you truly loved and it didn't work out and if we were songwriters, why not pull from that to write a great song.

I really dig this. I think it sounds like a broadway song to be honest with you. The way he carries the notes are very much like those of the songs you'd hear on the play stage. I love it, I think it's a very heartfelt song and sung straight from his heart.

Agreed. I do believe this is probably to us. Lord knows he's been torn apart on these boards for years.

I dunno, I mean to quote Axl - Estranged is about Erin but he wants his audience to have it mean something different to them, have their own connection to the words. - Making of Estranged video he says this.
I don't think it's creepy, it's what he felt, maybe he stills feels that way deep down inside. Don't Cry was written years before it was released..I don't see what the big deal is about that.
