Movies I watched this week...
High Lane- Foreign horror film a bit similar to Wrong Turn. So much potential wasted here. Love the mountain scenery and going by that alone(and the trip there) makes you think you're in for something special. You're not.
The acting is horrific and these people don't know jack shit about mountain climbing to be going on such a journey. It would be like someone who cant swim jumping into the Pacific and deciding to swim to Hawaii. A weak script and terrible cast kill the potential.
I'd love to see a better director redo this with a killer cast.
3/10 and I'm being kind.
I also watched a foreign horror film this week too. Saw Frontiers which was part of one of the after Dark horrorfest dvd sets. Mediocre film, imo. Too much gore and the plot is over the top. Seems to be the rage in French cinema to produce gory type of horror flicks. I almost wish that most countries would follow the Asia lead and write interesting horror/psychological films instead of depending on a lot of blood and gore. Now that I think about it this film kinda reminded me of Severance. 4/10
The Departed(FINALLY gonna watch this!!)
This one is actually better than the original Chinese film. So kudos to Scorcese on that film.
Back To The Future
I just bought the bluray set and am interested in how I view the films now as opposed to when I first saw them. I remember liking the 3rd one the best and finding the second one kind of confusing.

That first one is one of my favorite wrestling promos of all time. Great work by everyone Flair, Hennig (RIP), Heenan and Savage.

Finally watched another Miike film. This one is Ichi the Killer (2001). Very violent. I would describe it as a twisted super hero film. I kinda liked some of the quieter moments in the film. Anyway, the blood flows a lot in this film. I don't think it is something I want to watch again but it did keep me entertained. IIRC, I think Lofton said it was one of the weirdest films he had ever seen.

RIP Randy.
I first started watching WWF early in the 1990s (actually late in 1992) and Savage was having his role reduced and forced into a color commentator role. That being said I enjoyed the heck out of his feud with Crush in 1993 that culminated in a pretty good 2 out of 3 falls match at Wrestlemania 10.
Unlike most wrestlers, he had saved a lot of his money and really didn't need to return to the ring for one last payday or two. I believe his last wrestling appearance was in 2004 for TNA.
Whenever, I hear "Pomp and Circumstance" I think of it as Savage's theme song and not the graduation song.

lucky me...just noticed that my CD has a scratch....but canada BB doesnt have the same deal as you USA folks
Does it play without skipping or other defect? If there's nothing wrong with the disc I don't think you have anything to worry about.
I think TWAT would have been the best first single anyway. It has that great guitar solo and has the best "old GNR feel" of the songs on CD.

Watched Dario Argento's Inferno on Bluray. It was a good film although I didn't love it. Score by Keith Emerson (of Emerson, Lake and Palmer) was great.

This post was funny:
"Continue to do a shite job, Eric. Thanks for nothing."
Yeah, the whole thing was a big fuck up. The mods don't know what's going on. That UKsub's seems to have gotten a raw deal and it all comes down to some dude with hurt feelings that GNR and Axl have been ignoring him. My gut tells me that making this desperate, dramatic move (keeping the forum open after saying it was done) was just to see if he'd get some attention from the band. My guess is that the band is behind keeping it open.
And reading that forum, the admin of gunsnfnroses is a tool.
This is pretty much what I think happened too. He didn't get the Jarmo style perks that he wanted and he had to deal with that wasteland of a message board. So he pulls this ploy and gets the attention (and money) that he wanted.
It's really a shame though that message boards are meant to stimulate discussions and not stifle them. If GNR owns another board, that means there are less places to objectively discuss the band.
Oh well, Thank god for this site.:mosh:

Watched a bunch of films lately
The Godfather Parts 1 and 2 on bluray. Here's a suprise for me, for the longest time I've prefered the first part since I've seen it several times. I last saw Part II around ten years ago. After watching both of these films in the last two weeks, I think I prefer the second one now. The story is a tad better and the "prequel" section of the film was actually quite better than I remember it. Al Pacino shows more of his acting chops in the second one. Only gripe is that it's a little too long for my taste at 3hrs 20 minutes. They could have also used Diane Keaton more in the film and cut back on some of the casino/Roth plotline.
I still enjoyed the first one but I gained a bigger appreciation for the second one.
Confessions (2010)--one of the nine Oscar nominated foreign films. Very good. Depends on a different structure than most films. It's somewhat bleak in tone and appearance. Reminds me a little of Oldboy in terms of plot structure and theme.
I Saw the Devil (2010)--Directed by the guy who did "A Tale of Two Sisters". This one probably could be the fourth part of Park's Vengeance series. Stars Min Sik Choi (from Oldboy and Lady Vengeance) and is an extremely bloody film. Not much character development but that's a minor gripe. I saw the cut version and that was quite bloody. James Lofton should enjoy this one.

Unless this culminates in a Wrestlemania match next year in Miami, the Rock is doing this just to pop buy rates for this year's Wrestlemania. I have to admit some of these quotes by the Rock are just gold though. His potential involvement in the Miz/Cena is the only thing that makes me wanna watch that match.
#1280 Re: The Sunset Strip » Charlie Sheen is the fucking man! » 793 weeks ago
I have to admit Sheen comes off looking like a genius here. He could just sell fucking merchandise with t-shirts with all his various sayings and just make a shitload of money off of that. He could probably score a reality show as well. Hell he could also make a shitload of money off of being a motivational speaker as well.
However, I wouldn't expect him to be starring in any scripted tv shows anytime soon. The insurance premiums are just too high. He might be able to do some supporting movie roles too assuming his ego can handle that.
The acting is horrific and these people don't know jack shit about mountain climbing to be going on such a journey. It would be like someone who cant swim jumping into the Pacific and deciding to swim to Hawaii. A weak script and terrible cast kill the potential.
