The 2 games last night:
Bradford looked real good.
I like that the refs have impacted Peyton Manning's quick snaps, taking advantage of defensive substitutions and what not. That always struck me as cheap and really made me lose respect for the Colts. Now its a level playing field. I like it. And I can't believe the MNF announcers were saying they need a rule change to give Manning back that advantage. Are you kidding me? This is making the game fair and getting the best out of a game and both teams. He's a whiney little bitch anyway, just let him keep bitching.
I like the new rule.
Yep, that and all that fake audibilizing he does at the Line of scrmiage is extremely annoying. He also routinely throws players under the bus instead of admitting his own mistakes.
I didn't see much of the GB/Indy game, but the Patriots looked HORRENDOUS for the most part. I'll give Bradford some credit but there's no way any defense should give up 330+ yards through the air to a team with a rookie QB starting his first NFL game.
And the Pats offense looked great in the 3rd quarter. Only problem, it was Brady and the rest of the starters against 2nd and 3rd stringers.
Signs of how inconsistent they're going to be this season
So is it a lack of pass rush or secondary issues for the Pats D? Looks like they'll have to outscore a bunch of teams.
DO NOT underestimate the loss of Thomas Jones to the jets. shonne greene looked fine at the end of last year but to bank on him as your number 1 and pretend that you lose nothing because you bring in LT is a major stretch. jones was an absolute workhorse last year that single handedly won the jets games.
LT is done; so they'll be mainly depending on Greene. Stupid move as I would have either resigned Thomas Jones or just drafted another guy to go with Greene. Instead, they went for the name player.
It hasn't been mentioned here but Derrick Anderson has been named the starter for tomorrow's preseason game for the Cardinals. That does not bode well for Matt Leinart's future in Arizona.
Man am I glad that Bud Adams picked Vince Young otherwise I'd be having this guy play QB for the Titans.

Martyrs, as far as horror goes it doesn't get much better. I hated it first and my friend who made me sith through it I was just so pissed with him but a month or so later when I looked back on it. That film really moved me, and the message reminds me of Eckhart Tolle's whole surrendering to the Moment and accepting the present for what it is stuff. Heart wrenching.
This is the french film that was released in 2008, correct?
Anyway, any recommendations for The Evil Dead (1981)? I can acquire it via the usual method (torrent). Just wondering whether or not it's worth the time.

I think Washington could be a lot worse than the 10-6 record you predicted. You're underselling the Eagles a little here. Have no idea what to expect from the Giants. I think Seattle could contend in the West provided they pick up Vincent Jackson. I haven't exactly heard glowing reports about Matt Leinart in ARZ, whichever team gets good, consistent QB play in that division should win.
The NFC North I think will come down to GB and MIN. CHI still has OLine problems (Cutler blamed them the other day too) and DET is still young; with Detroit they could get to 7 wins this year and that is great news for their long suffering fan base.
I think CIN noses out BAL for the AFC North crown. That division has more issues than the other ones. The East is a 3 team race. So is the AFC South. I always wait for IND to crash and burn but they never do. Can't really trust HOU because they always choke in must win games. TEN should be in it considering their D can't really be worse than last year.
SD will win the West again. I think the Raiders still might have a QB problem. DEN has D injuries. I think the Chiefs could be a suprise team here.

How fans of this stuff don't revolt is beyond me. People cream their jeans every time Lucas does a re-release with a trillionth of a nanosecond clip of Yoda added.
When Lucas dies, it'll be from laughing while splicing one of these clips into a film.
Pretty much. At this point every DVD will get a rerelease with either a special directors cut (or longer version) or a special remastered version or a bluray upgrade. It makes very little scene to buy a dvd that is new release because at some point it will get rereleased with some extra stuff further down the line.
Fuck the shitty prequels. I'm not paying double the price just to get the first three movies in HD. I'm not buying it until they release the original trilogy by itself.
Yup. Or they could just release the movies separately and let the consumer decide what to buy. Coppola did this with the Godfather movies. The trilogy costs $48. But each film was rereleased early this year on BD. The first two were on sale for $11.99 each. So you could have just saved a bunch of money by just buying the first two and skipping the third one.
It also pays to wait as all blurays at some point will go on sale. No need to toss away cash and pay full MSRP.
#1405 Re: The Sunset Strip » Natalie Portman Loses Out on Lead for `The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo » 821 weeks ago
Usually I'm anti-remake (especially on foreign films) but the original was extremely boring when compared to the back. I'm looking forward to what Fincher and Craig can bring to this series.
Too bad because there would have been some full frontal nudity with Natalie Portman. Oh well, I think she already did a nude scene a few years ago for a short Wes Anderson film.

Those high profile moves almost never work out. LT is done anyway. Braylon Edwards is a suspect WR. The Revis situation is pretty bad but they did draft Kyle Wilson in the first round.
Every year some team that everyone assumes will do well/contend falls flat on its face. I don't think the Jets will fall to last (Bills are far worse and their two top RB just got injured) but I could see them getting 7-9 wins and underperforming.
Only wild card here is if Mark Sanchez develops a lot and carries the team for a few games while they go through their problems.
NE still has talent and MIA problem was on defense last year. I could see them both passing the Jets.

Really?? From Ron's Twitter just now:
OK, now someone's stirring up shit by spreading a personal email I wrote. I'll sum it up: don't leave a crowd waiting in the cold for 2 hours with no info, tell them something, give them something.
Shit happens, 'late' happens, I've been late before, not pointing fingers, this is about taking care of the *audience*. When an audience is at a point of hate, trying to hurt us, the crew, the gear, something isn't right. I'm hoping next time, I/we/someone will let the crowd know wussup and to hang tight.
Are you kidding me?? This dude is like the most fan friendly guy to ever grace this band. Why on Earth would someone start shit for him??
He's definitely unhappy. It's impossible at this point to even bother defending Axl. The guy just doesn't care about his fans like Bono said. He has no respect for thiem at all. I don't think he gets how plans have to made when one has to attend GNR concerts. Modes of transparation, cost, and the time involved in getting to those things might seem minor but to me they are a big deal.
That and he seems to have the most ridiculous excuses for shit happening in this band. Tour cancelled because of just finding out about it over the internet? Show delayed because Axl was eating duck?
Anybody ever read the Great Gatsby? Near the end the narrator Nick says "They (the Buchanans) destroy stuff and leave everyone else to clean up the mess." That's pretty much Axl at this point. From the old band to Ron now, they (and countless others) have always had to make excuses and defend the band because of Axl's fuckups.
The GNR name can only go so far if you have to deal with this and the other issues (band cohesion, release of actual new music) on a constant basis. It's the same pattern from Slash to Buckethead to Ron. Eventually they all get tired and just say the hell with this; it's not worth the stress to deal with this bs.

House (1977) not the crappy TV show but the weird Japanese film that is a real treat to watch. Some of the effects are creative (keep in mind that this was in 1977) and there's everything in this film from campy dialogue to excellent visuals. I noticed some giallo inspired stuff too as well. There's a really nice soundtrack too.

I wish I had paid more attention to your post. Be careful with EBay, there's a Chicago DVD floating around that claims itself as an official release that's only the first half of the show.
Hope you didn't pay too much...
Here's the show...

Check the thread, it's all there. Only thing to be warned, is the Chicago show cuts off at the beginning of Paradise City, like many boots from that era.
I paid like 9 bucks - it was the video through Coma, which I knew wasn't the end of the show, but all of the dvd's I saw ended at the same place.
If I go through the trouble of downloading all the parts of the other video, can I throw them on a recordable dvd and play it like any other dvd?
Yes, looking at the size of these files they seem to be either isos or VIDEO_TS files. That means you can just burn them onto a DVDR of your choice and play them in a dvd player. If it were an avi, you'd have to go through the trouble of converting it with software.

Anybody seen Salt? I was thinking about checking it out.
Saw this last week. Enjoyable popcorn film. One of those go inside and shut off the brain movies. I wish it were a little longer (run time is 100 minutes).
Watched Small Time Crooks last night. Film is ten years old and Woody Allen is just completely out of gas at that point. I'm afraid to watch anything more recent.
I've always wanted to watch Small Time Crooks. Regarding the "recent output":
2001 The Curse of the Jade Scorpion--fun little comedy, kinda underated. Enjoyed it a lot more on second viewing. It doesn't hurt that Charlize Theron is smoking hot in that film. Just don't expect Annie Hall or Bananas. It's a period comedy.
2002 Hollywood Ending, 2003 Anything Else, 2004 Melinda and Melinda, 2009 Whatever Works--haven't seen any of these, so can't comment.
2005-Match Point--I enjoyed this a lot, even if it is an updated version of 1989 Crimes and Misdeameanors.
2006 Scoop--Throwaway comedy with Woody Allen and Scarlett Johansson. Ok film. Probably best to be skipped.
2007-Cassandra's Dream--similiar to Match Point. I'd probably recommend this one to you because it doesn't have Scarlett Johansson.
2008--Vicky Cristina Barcelona--enjoyed this one a lot. Rebecca Hall and Penelope Cruz give good performances. There is a voiceover narration that could be a little annoying. Probably the closest to his classic relationship films.
