If it were already in motion, he wouldn't continue to talk about his solo stuff and his immidiate plans to put a new record out next year.

It is not happening (yet).

It might happen at some point. But not in 2016.

The writing for the next record, Slash said, is 90 percent completed. It would be his third album with Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators (the others being “Apocalyptic Love” in 2012 and last year’s “World on Fire”).

“The stuff for the next record is really great,” Slash said of the material. “One of the cool things about this band is that instead of peaking early and burning out is we’ve started at one place and escalated in terms of our creative inspiration.

“It keeps getting better from record to record which is a really nice thing to have happen so yeah, we just seem to get more in a groove the longer we stay together and the harder we work on the road and so on. It just seems to come out in the new material.”

Always looking ahead, Slash has planned his moves after the tour ends.

“Next is finishing pre-production on the next album and going into the studio in the spring,” he said. “I’ve also got ‘The Hell Within’ to shoot sometime in the beginning of the new year so that’s the immediate stuff.”

But from Brain's story, Tommy was the one who ok'd him for the gig...Bucket brought him but Tommy vetted him. Tommy knew Richard as well before Richard joined so I am sure he had some say in that decision.

Yes, Tommy is the one who suggested Richard in the first place tommy

When Frank was auditioned didn't Axl have absolutely nothing to do with it?

Yes, Tommy and Richard brought him in. Apparently he didn't even properly talk to Axl until after his first show...

I personally would love the hear the demos with Jeff Angell (pre-Weiland). VR would have been a completely different band, but for sure very interesting

Maddy. If it was the Rio version I'd consider keeping it in. Its not though and out of the songs left this song has Axl's worst vocals.

Even though I disagree with you, well as far as voting this off before I.R.S and the title track. Here's Axl's explanation on the vocals for those that never saw it.

Forward to around 7:39

Thank you for that. I haven't seen/heard that before. So, Madagascar is inspired by The Old Man and the Sea? Makes sense. But that's also ironic somehow, given how hard Axl tried to show everyone by bringing back his big fish (i.e. CD) for everyone to see. With the recpetion it got, it almost seems like he returned empty handed as well hmm

Why should Slash play a UYI era song that Axl couldn't finish until 2008? Not Slash's fault Axl wouldn't just shut up and sing.....   tongue

"This I Love' is actually an old GN'R song that the original GN'R wrote and recorded for the 'Illusion' records. I like that song a lot.. it took a couple of weeks to find all the tapes, because they finished recording 'Use Your Illusions' on the road and one tape was in Paris, another in London, and another in Sydney, I believe." (Dave Dominguez, Sp1at, 04/21/05)

The only Guns show mentioned above, which predates the release of Illusions (09/16-17/91), is their first one in London (08/31/91). Elsewhere, Axl suggests TIL is a post-Illusion song, and it's possible that Dominguez means the Spaghetti Incident? sessions in '92-93, during which additional covers were recorded to round it up to album-length. GNR played in London the second time on 04/20/92, Paris on 06/06/92, and Sydney on 01/30/93. The TIL sessions could've taken place near each of the shows.

Curiously, onstage in both Antebonné and Paris in September 2010, Axl would refer to This I Love as "the only GNR song written in France".

This suggests a version of it did exist at some point that wasn't just Axl playing the piano.

That would be interesting. I know that Axl also played parts of it during his piano solos on the Illusions tour so who knows how far developed the song was at that stage.

Amazing that IRS aired on the Trunk show and nobody managed to get a decent copy of it. You remember that horrible recording that was floating around? Like it was taped with a Nokia on the other side of the room.

I probably still have that somewhere. The quality was bad, but it still was pretty exciting to hear

I had to decide between Better and IRS now. I went with Better in the hope of keeping Madagascar alive for another round

Almost everything Lanegan does is awesome. I wonder how much he'll be involved if he is not the main singer.
