I agree, but drugs do enhance the music experience.
Go snort an eight ball of meth and listen to Seasons in the Abyss. Its like being touched by God.
Ha ha, Seasons was the soundrack to my first acid trip, together with Aenima by Tool - and that was certainly like being touched by God. Listening to Welcome to the Jungle on purple microdots though in a crowded pub was like being molested by the Devil though - really not pleasant, but I guess that was the surroundings. more than the music....
Drugs certainly enhance the music experience, especially the music that was made by people on drugs in the first place. Its certainly not as excitng listening to the White Album without a big fat joint or something. But I suppose the Manson Family probably should have listened to that one with a cup of green tea.

Can you actually learn to play the drums by playing this game?
#193 Re: Guns N' Roses » Information on Shackler's Revenge » 887 weeks ago
also, it is pretty interesting how we think these musicians don't have any influence on Axl and that they are just hired hands. They may be contracted employees. However, it appears to me that the bandmembers have a ton of say in matters regarding the music and other people being brought in like Scaturro. Bucket has his crew....Tommy kind of has a crew. See what I'm saying?
I see what you mean - but doesnt anyone find it more bizarre that it is co-written by the engineers - all this time and the engineers end up writing the album with people that left years ago...? I now expect to see Rhiad credited to Rose/Carroll/Ole Beich/'Dave the guy that fixes the coffee machine in the studio'. I dont think anyone had that nuch of a say in the band otherwise they wouldnt have all left.
Also, nice to see that apart from the writing credits theres no mention of the new band at all and just the continuous living off former glories with Slash, Izzy etc etc... Way to go....
Sorry if I sound pessimistic - but I am so thats that really.

OK, Slash nicked a few records to learn guitar from when he was a teen or whatever. You should probably thank him because if he didnt you probably wouldnt have a GNR website to complain about him on.
I suppose that none of you guys that bash him downloaded the leaks?
Huh? You totally are missing the point, mainly because your beloved Slash is getting tried and hanged for what he said.
Because he's a fucking hypocrite.
Slash is saying that downloading material is wrong and illegal, and yet he stole albums from stores back in the day, which is WORSE.
We downloaded UNRELEASED leaks, and NONE OF US are judging each other. The only person giving us a hard time is SLASH. Even Axl hasn't even given us a hard time, and it's fucking AXL.
You're trying to turn the argument back around on us, and that's fine... but the difference is we didn't open up our fat mouths. Slash did.
Most everyone here, and across the galaxy have hoped they go easy on Cogill, just because we're not nazis.
To suggest that Slash is getting tried and hanged for stealing Rocks or whatever as a kid is a little farfetched perhaps, but amusing. Do you think that Steven Tyler going to take him to court or get a SWAT team on his house?
Hes not 'beloved' to me, I was just suggesting that its ridiculous for all the people who dislike Slash for whatever reason swoop on him and condemn him for whatever reason they can find. That kind of behaviour is the main reason we stick to this site because its not usually the main topic of conversation.
I'm certainly not judging anyone for downloading the leaks, if we didnt have them this site would be dead on the whole. As for Slash, hes speaking on behalf of everyone who gets paid to release music and he does have a valid point - you dont want to work for free do you? Kudos to him for also managing to promote his old band far more than theyve ever managed for nigh on 15 years.
I'm amused to see that you say that Axl hasnt given us fans a hard time. Hes pretty much blamed us on several ocassions for the album never coming out. Those same people who bought him his hermit hideaway in Malibu. If he could do his job properly you wouldnt have people like Skwerl trying to do it for him and give us, the fans, what he is unwilling to do himself.

I also watched In Bruges again the other day, and it's still great. I highly recommend this film to anyone. One of the best films of this year imo.
Agreed, watched this last night and was surprised just how good it was. Will watch again soon before too long.
Any film with midgets in is always a winner too.
#199 Re: The Sunset Strip » METALLICA Discussion » 890 weeks ago
Slayer would eat this band for lunch, even in their prime. If Metallica in 2008 is gonna get compared to Slayer as a way to promote this shit I may die from laughing.
First it was Puppets, then Justice, now Slayer??
What's next?
I dont think they're being compared to Slayer as such, just that elements of the song sound slightly Slayerish. However both bands are just trying to recreate former glories with their latest albums and thats the only real valid comparison worth mentioning. Christ Illusion was a major disappointment despite having Lombardo on board, and despite Death Magnetic sounding better than anything Metallica have done for years it still manages to sound pretty contrived and fake to me.
Personally I can hear several Slayerish elements in this, that doesnt mean that we have to compare the bands though - theres a Slayerish riff at times, Slayerish vocal patterns in some parts and some Slayerish lyrics. I'm sure thats just a Rubin influence though perhaps - theyre like the only metal band he knows
I was so pumped for the great return of Metallica but the more I hear the more I get worried. Cyanide was laughable. The Day... is pretty awesome though, and My Apocalypse despite desperately trying to be old school thrash Metallica just sounds like theyre trying too hard.
Despite all this, I'll be buying this no doubt, just to hopefully be pleasantly surprised. Not that they managed to do that with their last 4 albums.
Oh well, at least they didnt get a synth player.
Now playing - Slayer - War Ensemble....:mosh::mosh::mosh:

Why would the VMA rehearsal warrant this? We're supposed to be excited about rehearsals now? Unfinished demos are bad enough, but practice? We're talking about practice!?! Lol.
Guess we've dumbed ourselves down.
God I hope its not - anyway didnt the actual performance suggest they they hadnt practised at all?! A practice of a performance like that would finish us all off.
We'll find out soon enough
