#2052 Re: Guns N' Roses » RUMOR: Axl "will not be cooperating any further on the albums release" » 896 weeks ago
I thought this could play out as a bit of a clusterfuck - but shit even my imagination couldn't have expected such "monumental non-promotion".
Once again it's always somebody elses fault.
Axl is a fantastic artist but fuck me please get someone else to run the ship. Yes that may mean you will have to do shit that you don't like from time to time, but it's a small price to pay.
The curious thing to me is he has Azoff onboard, so if he is not happy with CD's delivery then either Best Buy and co breached their contract/agreement with how this thing was to be released or Azoff has screwed Axl.
I have been curious as to why Azoff appears to have got off scott free with no abuse from Axl. He is the bands manager, surely he knew what was agreed and what wasn't. What the role out plan was to be etc etc. I expect Axl would have poured over the release details and agreements etc before signing off on them. So what went wrong???
Either Best Buy or the record company hasn't held up their end of the bargain which I thought would leave Axl with some sort of recourse. If they have held up their end of the deal then Axl and/or Azoff appear to have agreed to a shit house deal that allowed the current circumstances to eventuate??
#2053 Re: Management » Vicky Hamilton - Approx 1985 - 1986 » 896 weeks ago
Buckethead brought some fantastic material to the table during his time with GNR. Shame he's not going to be involved going forward, although for BH I think it's personally better for him to be solo. I just hope that whoever gets the gig they get a chance to showcase their talents by being given the flexability to "do their thing", plus by the material actually being released in a timely manner.
Nope never met Vicky, although I have a friend who knows a fair bit about her and her claim to be GN'R's first manager, he also says her claim was total BS. He should know too given he WAS actually their manager post her involvement.
I still like Adler's quote about Vicky:
"Vicky was very sweet, very motherly. We were pretty much living in her house, having sex with strippers on the roof. We destroyed it."

This 'band' functions like a soccer team. Fans are excited that who should they sign or rid of and care more about the transfer market than the actual performance.
That's a really good analogy.
What we are seeing now is that some of the "recruits" are tired of not seeing any premiership success and so they are transferring to other teams. Others are leaving because they are not getting enough gametime to showcase their skills.
There also seems to have been a deliberate recruiting policy to ensure that the star striker is never overshadowed by another star player. Therefor every player seems to be replaceable (3 guitarists, 2 or 3 drummers, 2 keyboardists etc etc) and they know it. No player is guaranteed to be in the starting lineup, all could be "benched" at any time for any reason.
I dare say that the guy that's running this club never wants to be in the position again where one renegade star player (like Slash) can devestate the team if he quits. No player will ever be allowed to be as iconic/identifiable with the team name except of course for the current player/owner.

That whole last paragraph of that interview doesn't make sense:
I called Robert out of the blue back when, because I felt I knew something was wrong. Finally, he says he was gonna kill himself. I put up about 60-something-K on the mortgage, got a couple payments, but that wasn't where the trouble started. It was that the bank was foreclosing on that money, so he was pissed at our accountant, who kept on him trying to sort out what we should do and Robert avoiding him -- who was the others' accountant as well.
What??? So Axl's accountant was also the banks accountant???
I only learned of any of this near the end. He and Robert knew each other for years.
Who knew each other for yeas? Did Robert and the accountant know each other for years???
He's one of the guys who allegedly saw Slash with his guitar in Vegas. And it seems genuine because he didn't know anything was going on. He's like, "Why was Slash there with his guitar?" And the Hard Rock people -- what did they have to lie about? They deal with all the bands ... enemies, whatever, so it's just business. As far as I know, we're all good with that.
Who saw Slash with his guitar in Vegas? Robert or the accountant? If it was Robert why would he believe someone that had "lost his mind and didn't live in the real world and doesn't know anything"??? Or did this incident take place before they had a falling out?
I'm lost
#2056 Re: Guns N' Roses » Axl Rose Insists Original Guns N' Roses Lineup Is Dead and Buried » 896 weeks ago
Yeah that really surprised me, I mean nobody knew much about the Robert John shit, so why throw that out into the open???
He said Merck took forever to pay him and so he sued Axl even though Axl didn't know anything about it. Surely RJ being mates with Axl from way back would have tried to contact him to talk about it before it apparently blew up and got so outta hand??? Maybe he couldn't get through to talk to Axl:
Anyone whose opinions I trust seems to thinks he lost his mind, lives in a fantasy world and knows everything.
Why wouldn't Axl have seen him to form this opinion himself, since I thought they were really good friends? It sounds like he was on the outer and that their relationship fractured before the suing incident took place
#2057 Re: Guns N' Roses » What interests you in 2009? » 897 weeks ago
Yeah we really need a neither option.
I selected Slash and the old bands implosion because I struggle to see much of an interesting future for Nu GNR based upon everything that's gone on and Axl's lacklustre view of GNR going foward.
So by default we might as well see some bitch fighting for entertainment.
#2058 Re: Guns N' Roses » Axl Rose Insists Original Guns N' Roses Lineup Is Dead and Buried » 897 weeks ago
^ Once upon a time that was definitely the case. Unfortunately I think that as every day passes less and less people (outside of the hardcore fanbase) care about Axl and his music/CD/New GNR. I also detect that the care factor amongst the hardcore fanbase is also seriously nosediving.
The only thing that is always guaranteed to spark an interest is the original GNR. Whether it's talk of a reunion or the airing of dirty laundry, that's a guarantee of magazine sales / internet website hits.
#2059 Re: Guns N' Roses » Axl Rose Insists Original Guns N' Roses Lineup Is Dead and Buried » 897 weeks ago
^ The ironic thing D is that Slash was bashed repeatedly for leveraging off the GNR name even though he was no longer in the band. But, it now seems that Axl needs to throw some Slash dirt around now whenever he speaks just to get noticed.

Its the same fucking thing.
Exactly, I don't want to hear from beggars and hangars on from either camp, it's equally as bad!!! Leave it to the actual people involved to comment if they so chose. Personally if I was Slash I wouldn't respond at all.
