it wasn't del. and he isn't even 43. and not from nashville. he's from new york. and i completely agree with everything this guy said in his blog. all i feel is gratitude for getting to listen to and own the music that axl makes. it's amazing, and i don't know why so many of you complain about every little thing. complaining about how axl relates to his fans.....picking apart every little thing about the songs..... it takes all the joy out of listening to and appreciating all this great music that axl and all the other guys created with their hearts and souls. alot of you just sound like very unhappy people.
I haven't noticed anybody complaining in this thread - apart from yourself????
I simply made the point that the writing style reminded me of the way Del James writes.
The guy said in the article he saw two UYI shows. Del obviously has seen a lot more shows than that. I know that.
At the same time if they got Del to write it you could easily put in facts like a different age and a different area where he grew up etc if they wanted to. But whatever, I don't think he wrote it, I simply made the point that it sounded to me like his flowery writing style that's all.

^ Really? How fucking ungrateful.
I can give Axl the tip, it wasn't Robert John's photos that made Axl look like shit in 2002 - the camera lens never lies!
I had actually seen a couple of those vids before (about a year ago). The one on the conveyour belt at the airport, Slash on the bike, Axl stopping to look at that aeroplane. A few of the other vids I had never seen though.

It sounded to me like it was written by Del James.
Strange that they posted it on their myspace???

I'm really sorry to hear that Bri.
That's something I haven't experienced yet, so far it's only been people much older than me that have passed, never someone my age that was a close friend.
I imagine it knocks you back a bit and makes you think about what's important and reminds you to make the most of the time you have with people now, as you never know what's around the corner. It sounds like you guys had some good times together.
My thoughts are with you and your buddy!
#2165 Re: Guns N' Roses » What did you expect? » 909 weeks ago
Prior to CD being released I believe the fans were owed something. Why? - Because Axl continually sold it to fans that he was working on an album called Chinese Democracy that he was going to deliver it. People stuck by him and defended him and the GN'R name during this time He gave snippets of info about when it might be released, and I don't just meant the tentative release date, there were also other quotes like "it's time to wrap this baby up, it feels right" etc etc. He toured under said album name a number of times, sold merch etc etc.
So yeah I think the fans were right to expect to be given an album at the end of the day. If we never got it that's fine too - but basically it would mean the fans were told BS and fed a bunch of lies for years on end and Axl's integrity would be zero.
Now the album is out - I don't believe we are owed anything. Nothing more has been promised. He can continue to play nude twister in Malibu with Beta for the rest of his life.

I also think CD is a very good solid album. But as James said the release and the amateurish way it has been handled really has taken a bit of gloss off the whole thing.
It's just disappointing that it wasn't given a chance with a tiny bit of promo, some information about who is in the band, will there be a tour etc etc (maybe this type of info is just around the corner - although I'm not holding my breath).
Azoff has the best of both worlds. If CD had taken off he is already hitched to that wagon. If it doesn't, he plays the reunion card and gets even more $$'s. Some could cynically even argue that the release campaign by Azoff was an intentional ploy to set CD up for commercial failure (note I am still happy with the CD irrespective), thereby forcing the reunion and his payday. A risky strategy though since Axl seems to have a habbit of sacking people that make him do things he doesn't like or want to.
Unfortunately Azoff is clearly not here because of his passion for music and respect for artistic expression. He has no interest in Axl nor what he is trying to communicate through his music and whether he achieves a connection with the listener/fans. As a result I am not surprised at all with the way things have played out.

Cute photo DTJ!
#2169 Re: Guns N' Roses » Reason Axl Rose not promoting album? » 910 weeks ago
It's also easy to say that the final mix wasn't how you wanted it. That way if the album tanks you can try and blame others for it. That has occured for so long though, that tactic simply won't wash anymore. That said I also believe him that it probably was finally taken out of his hands when he still wasn't happy with it. I don't believe he was ever gonna be happy with it.
Unfortunately a different mix whilst could it could improve some songs, it's not going to make a material difference to his predicament. For some reason the public ain't buying the album, perhaps they don't think it's really a GN'R album, they don't care for the music etc etc??? More time mixing it won't change public perception.

That's must be awesome fun playing GNR tunes!!! Can you do the Axl snake dance?
Re the Sheik - those were the best days back when it was WWF - Iron Sheik, Ultimate Warrior, Rowdy Roddie Piper, Ricky the Dragon Steamboat, Hulk Hogan (obviously), Jack the Snake Roberts (man I could go on listing names for ages). Those were the days when wrestling was REAL none of that fake stuff like you see today.
The Iron Sheik - wasn't his patented move the Camel Clutch?
