#211 Re: The Sunset Strip » Prince To Roll Out Three Albums This Year » 871 weeks ago

I liked much of his music until after Emancipation, after that album there hasn't been much worth listening to outside of his AMAZING Superbowl halftime performance from a couple years back.  A guitar driven Prince album could be the key to what's been missing for the past decade!

Absolutely true.  While I would love to see it be a success (just like pulling for you favorite sports team) it does not damper my listening enjoyment in the least.  I have always been one who usually prefers the "non-hits" on most albums to the widely accepted ones anyway.  Many of the artists I like are obscure so this isn't a biggie for me.  It's just you like to see your team "win", nothing more.

Christine (1983)
--- Another one like The Fog. Not great, not awful, just kind of there. The film takes FAR too long to get going, and by the time it does, you've become bored. I do have to make one statement.... Alexandra Paul is fucking gorgeous. What ever possessed her to cut off her hair (Baywatch) perplexes me. She's stunning.

I actually liked Christine, can't believe I forgot to mention that one!!
I have to agree with you that Prince of Darkness was another underrated movie, very good!  Carpenter's "Cigarette Burns" he did for the Masters of Horror is really good as well.

CD should be very near gold now, anybody have the total sales figures at this point?  Got to be very close.

It's good to see the album still hovering and not dropping dead but PROMO and a VIDEO could help keep this going a bit longer.  I relentlessly say (as I have from the beginning, and thus far haven't been proved wrong) that while this album didn't have the sales we all wanted initially that it may still have a fairly long run on the top 100 and in the end sale well.  It's not too late just yet, getting closer to being too late but I think a few right moves could keep the album alive long enough to steady the sales.  If the curve of dropoff is a gradual one (hopefully with dips and rises) I believe we could see platinum during spring.

Last time I spoke to Saikin he had became very busy as of late.  He may put up a fresh link when things slow down a bit.

You can find most of these songs as well as many others here in the meantime:  http://www.gnrevolution.com/viewtopic.php?id=1195

The Mayan civilization is one of the most impressive that have ever been and their acheivements with the tools they had to work with (as sic has already said) is extremely impressive.  Even so I will lose no sleep in 2012 based on these sort of predictions.  This is an instance where sensationalism has outweighed sensibility.

2008 came and so did Chinese Democracy but noone could ever have guessed (even the naysayers) at how anti-climatic it would have been.  My biggest shock has simply been the silence.  It's almost as if Axl wants the album to fail. 10

What's done is done.

Now it's 2009, what do you guys expect will happen from here?

Will there be a supporting tour?  Will there be a surge in promotion as a last attempt to improve sales of CD?  Will there be a video?  Will the rest of the songs be released?

....or is this it?  Have we seen all there is to see?

That was an odd one to say the least!

One of my favorite John Carpenter movies is 1988's "They Live".  Carpenter quite successfully makes his point about how "THEY" influence our decisions, attitudes and the way we live.  Of course he is making the point that the real "THEY" is the media.  How true this is.  Many Americans have become nothing more than cattle and the media has taken full advantage of this.

The Thing (1982) and The Fog (1980) round out the rest of my top 4 favorite Carpenter movies...Halloween always being #1!
