Uhm, there's a pretty big backstory here, which I think is what Neemo was referring to.

I don't get it. He's gotta have a deal with Newsmax. If he's concerned about criminal charges why wouldn't he just step down and pence pardon him? Pretty sure Ford did that to nixon. Although, I heard there was never a ruling on if a President can pardon someone prior to being charged or sentenced (blanket pardon, per se). Then said in the 70s everyone just wanted to move on from Watergate, plus the oil crisis was going on so the public moved on from it.
So, depending on what skeletons are in his closet, there may be a fear that a president cannot 'blanket pardon' people. Otherwise its just giving content for Newsmax & OAN on the day to day.
#213 Re: The Sunset Strip » Anyone else looking forward to AC/DC's new album? » 286 weeks ago
If they did Axl/DC it could only ne an album with a hit song or two. I think too many fans would feel Brian was slighted to pay to see them ACDC 3 like James said.
This year, it wouldve worked since they wouldnt tour for a while. Not sure when this album began but myb they knew there wouldnt be a tour. Would be interesting, maybe Malcolm asked to kedp Brian and ride it out as is.

Atari I had RHCP BSSM on my mind when I started, then just slipped my mind as I typed. I think I'd place it after PJ - Ten. Maybe above it. Great album.

and, I just loved the sound of the Yamaha acoustic. Funny, I went in expecting to pay around 400 for a Fender or something, darker woody Wilco sound. But happened to test out the Yamaha and it was more a California Jack Johnson/Janes Addiction sound. Tried playing the others and just came back to it. It was only 220 at guitar center and I said to the guy 'Am I wrong here, I seem to like this sound better'. I think it suits my style, I dunno. I considered upgrading but don't think I will on that.

Managed to score a gibson custom shop historic 1958 les paul reissue in a trade
Nice! We talked probably 10 years ago about this, when I just got my Epiphone Gibson. The 4 knobs confused me to which did which. I have a fairly cheap Yamaha acoustic that I just had a local tech add an electric pickup too and he tuned up both guitars (sounds cheesy but I didn't wanna touch the acoustic with a hole for the plug) restrung them etc. I was playing for a bit then slowed down a few years ago, picked it back up this year. New found interest.
Love it, can't solo much, campfire guitarist lol. Would love to hear the tone & playing of that, must be a beauty.

Reason I ask mostly is I saw Home Alone promoted for Disney+ as the 30th anniversary of it (incredibly hard to believe), and, I was never a huge fan of this one, it is really good. Layered, with alot to it, and Macauley Culkin was a perfect fit. Watched it last night. seen it before but maybe never gave it a chance.
I may be a bit older than some of you. I was 17/senior in high school, and hated the hype & success of it, just didn't buy in. Which, now I look back, and wonder why I hated it, and also man, it woulda been a perfect movie to ask a girl out on a date on. Stupid me probably would rather drink beer & smoke cigarettes in a woods somewhere in the cold.
Yea...I mostly groan every time Home Alone comes on TV...
I don't even find Macauley that talented or interesting. He's just playing a little boy anyway....
I'm not a fan of slapstick comedy and the shows/movies that display children and babies outsmarting adults isn't entertaining to me in the least.
Plus...fucking Trump is in it.
Mitch, I'm pretty sure Biden could take office, the Bears win the Super Bowl, and covid is cured all within a 30 day period and you'd still find something to be miserable about.
Were you in the Chicago area during the Bulls run? That had to be surreal, probably didn't know the legend of it at the time.
As to the holidays, yeah charlie Browns is great. I think PBS might be airing it this year after Apple bought/stole the rights to it, guess they're trying to save face after that deal a little bit. As for music, my faves are The Waitresses - Giftwrapping (unpopular opinion) and The Kinks - Father Christmas. I think the Killers have a good Christmas song as well, there's some others.. Lennon.
Adam Sandler was on fire the night of the Channakuh song, he probably didn't realize how legendary that bit would become. Even Part 2 is great.

My main point is that republicans did good this election in spite of Trump. He didn't do terrible with Muslims in 16, he just did better with them now. And really, if republicans want to win, they have to offer black voters and Hispanics what they have in the Democratic party: a voice and power. They don't have to win the black vote, but just enough of it. Where I see a positive, the younger Republican party is more inclusive (Trump voters were overwhelmingly supportive of gay rights when polled, which shocked the shit out of me when I read that). The republicans who were just elected were majority female and minorities this election. And a good portion embraced public/private partnerships (operation warp speed, for example) that the Paul Ryan GOP never, ever would have.
The other positive is that the election was also a rebuke of the squad/Bernie sector and pretty much emboldened the centrists to speak up and say, "see, we were right. And you need us." Clyburn even spoke on this. I see these things as positives. Biden can work with this.
I get what you're saying. The Dems were expecting a landslide, which didn't happen. I agree the acab, defund the police, and free everything (college) is a losing proposition. They need to rethink things. GOP was really getting nervous about their entire platform falling apart this election and needing major reform when, it turns out, viola it all fell gently into their lap.
