In addition to wanting the 2001 version of the album for artistic purity reasons, I also would very much like to see the abandoned Paul Whitehead artwork, none of which appeared on the released album or aborted re-releases.

wait, what? he drafted up a cover for cd at some point? first i've heard of that.

the only thing i ever remember hearing about the cover was during the first '02 show in china:

gnr on tour wrote:

Before ‘Chinese Democracy,’ Axl explained the title of the album and showed the crowd [on the video screen] the artwork for the new album. The artwork is black and white and features a bicycle, with a wall behind it that someone painted with “Guns N’ Roses!!”

btw, monsters & robots is one of the greatest bucket releases. claypool, bootsy, brain & bucket all jamming their fuckin' asses off!

gnr definitely have some duds in their catalog, but it's hard to pick out any songs that really sound "bad."

mike clink was a fuckin' wizard when it came to recording these dudes. sure, afd has way too much cowbell, but the guitars and drums blow you away every time you hear them. the production on spaghetti incident salvages the entire recording -- yeah, it's all covers, but the sound is pure gnr magic.

chinese democracy is obviously the elephant in the room. the final version of catcher in the rye is almost unlistenable. the vocals on rhiad have always sucked (but the instrumental version is a monster!). street of dreams went from the most modern sounding new guns song to a bloated, shiny piece of shit covered in glitter. bucket isn't anywhere near loud enough on the madagascar solo.

in classic era guns, i can't really name anything. i still listen to "breakdown" these days and it sounds great, imo.

axl has already secured enough guitar & bass parts from slash & duff to work with during the post-tour downtime.

since he owns the name and the songs, he can freely do what he wills with them, even if slash & duff's contracts have expired.

i can only hope this deluxe edition includes new versions of the "big guns" from cd 2/self-titled/stay of execution.

since nobody's ever heard them, axl could drop the general or atlas shrugged feat. slash solos and it would do iron man 3 numbers.

Well there is one easy way to settle this. Is there a mod or an admin that lives in thr US that can give me a call? You can hear for yourself.

i'm not an admin or mod and i completely believe you have those songs, but i'd love to hear anything, even if it is over the phone.

while we're on the subject, for anyone who hasn't heard, i highly suggest you check out walker on the appetite for distortion podcast. it's a very entertaining & enlightening edition of the show. i've spent years of my life researching this band and there was a lot of cool shit discussed that i hadn't heard before.

the label held back the re-released cd w/ the remixes because they were cornering axl into a reunion. with slash now at his side, why do you really think the band has been playing all the different cd songs for this entire tour? it's simple... slash is working out his parts for a deluxe, re-mastered & re-recorded 10th anniversary edition -- the proper release of the album axl had always envisioned.

remember how axl said there was 3 songs on cd that he wanted slash to play on?

we're finally going to get it.

imagine being a complete outsider to gnr and reading a gnr message board in 2017

shitloads of people begging to send them silkworms in a pm

I swore off Nintendo after the Wii but the Switch is very tempting with Zelda and Odyssey.

I'm gonna pick up a PS4 Pro next year before RDR2 comes out.

Yeah I was the same man. Wii and Wii U really disappointed me. Switch is killing it though. Some great indie titles on it too if you like retro games.

it was an embarrassing time to be a nintendo fan during the wii and wii u days. almost as bad as being a guns n' roses fan at the time!

by then, i had completely converted over to sony. right now, i have a ps2, ps3 and ps4 hooked up to various tvs throughout the house... crazy to think i grew up on game boys, super nintendo, 64 and gamecube.

haven't got a switch yet, but soon is the word. made a promise to myself to beat the witcher 3 before i get one.

#238 Re: Guns N' Roses » McKagan: I Don't Think Izzy Stradlin Is an Unsung Hero of GN'R » 409 weeks ago

the true magic of guns n roses came from axl, slash, duff and izzy sitting in a room together with acoustic guitars. none of them, including axl, were ever able to come close to re-creating that magic outside of the band. creatively, steven and matt are interchangeable.

by himself, izzy is just a really laid back songwriter who writes cool, mellow tunes -- nothing more, nothing less.
by himself, slash can craft good riffs and solo his ass off, but never took his sound anywhere interesting or challenging.
by himself, duff is just a punk rocker with an average song-writing ability.
by himself, axl is a man of a thousand ideas who can only execute on one and needs people around him to elevate and inspire him.

at some point during this tour, i hope the band found themselves backstage strumming guitars and piecing together ideas. it's the only way this band works... the cut & paste/pro-tools style is for the birds.

still no sign of this. hmm

some dude on reddit emailed the owner of the buckethead pikes site and got this response:

"The shipping for Bucketheadland has been delayed. We are waiting to see for how long. We are looking into download codes. Stay tuned. We apologize for the delay."

what's the deal, big b? bucket
