Side note related to her and what you just said. One time when I was like 4 or 5, my parents took us horseback riding. When they ranch hands were talking to everyone about what kind of horse they wanted, my mom spoke up and LOUDLY said "I want one that's ready for the glue factory!". Needless to say, EVERYONE looked mortified to which my mom replied "Oh ok, like any of you want some spirited asshole horse that's not going to listen or throw you off. Not me!"
Your Mum sounds like she was great fun Russ!! Its stuff that like that is so bitter sweet to think back over. You laugh at the memory and feel the wave of sadness when you mull over the loss.
Thanks Stacey for the message. I'm fine with things as they are, life is a cycle and none of us get out alive. Marie, my aunt had a great life, she was a human rights judge and travelled the world; she also smoked 70 filterless cigarettes a day so I'm amazed she got to 71!!!

Its one of those weeks, my Mam's sister (my favourite aunt) died this morning at 4am after a short but brutal battle with cancer. Nobdy expected this rapid exit.
She had a great life and she was a fucking legend still, looking at how small, old, sad and lost my Mam looked last night actually gave me a pain in my chest.
Old age and decay...I am thinking I won't take part. I think I'll take myself out first. When the doc tells me I'm for the glue factory then its out with a bottle of jack, a bag of green, my GNR vinyls and a glock!

This is great, I had also decided that I'm giving 2013 over to appreciating Prince's full body of work.

AL deserves repeated listening.
I found the record oddly sterile despite the stellar guitar work but I've come to appreciate it more and more.

Peace be upon you Russ, that's a tough one.

Interesting Russ...always thought it was directed at a former lover..
I think Axl holds "love" and "friendship" at the same level. He expects friends to be as loyal and supportive as lovers and if they fail, they're gone and gone completely.
No doubt elements of The Blues, Sorry and Cather in the Rye could be influenced by his personally all consuming feud with Slash.

^ She's also the one who ruined the 2007 reunion by refusing Slash access to Axl the night he turned up at Axl's place.
Discussion always focuses on if Slash did or didn't lie about it. But lets get real. He showed up there to talk it out with Axl and had they been able to do so - they probably would have resolved some of the more abstract stuff like this idea that Slash wanted My World to fail and so on.
Had that happened...CD would have featured slash, and Slash 2010 would be a GNR record...and we'd be listening to bootlegs of 2006-2010 era axl rasp with modern slash-shredding.
Thanks Beta.
I'm willing to bet someone will post saying they are glad that didn't happen.

That is a completely valid viewpoint. However, I am of the belief that the band was bound to break apart, and possibly even needed to for all parties involved to survive. Slash and Duff were far from the epitome of good health back then.
See Faldor, your sentence could so easily have ended up been written about:
The Stones
Several members were heroin addicts, there were epic fallouts, fights, arrests, deaths and accidents
Zeppelin
Heroin, car crashes, singers child killed, band tension, cocaine, insane backstage behaviour, black fucking magic
Sabbath
see all of the above, add in about ten more destructive forces
Metallica
Dead bass player, cocaine, alcoholism, power moves, bass player meltdown, lead singer meltdown, global backlash etc..
Aerosmith
Need I say more...
Motley
Ahem...
You have to challenge our idols to explain why they pissed away their chance to prove they were more than short, lucky run.
#250 Re: Guns N' Roses » GN'R Filming: How is it financed? » 695 weeks ago
This is the stuff I love getting into the most.
How much does being Axl Rose or Slash cost?
On Stern, Scott Weiland said that he has to pay his ex wife Mary $60K A MONTH. I would put Scott a peg below Axl in terms of scale of assets and ticket draw so he must be a whole other level above again.
I agree with Pulluxlm, Steven cannot be hurting that badly, AFD is still selling. I do recall Metal Sludge interviewing one of Steven's ex bandmates from Adlers Appetite and he said that Steven was comfortable from royalties and can live without working.
If anone has any material published that looks at the financial side of any of the members I would LOVE to see it here.
Cheers!!
