Well how bout that - the beast is finally coming out of hibernation. Good shit!

Let's get this motherfucker on!  I can't wait to have all the silliness behind as and this CD dragon to finally be slayed.

#2532 Re: The Sunset Strip » The BATMAN Thread » 930 weeks ago

Well I finally watched Batman Begins last night for the first time (yeah I know but I gave up on the childish batman crap they were dishing up years ago).

I was pleasantly surprised, I thought it was a very good movie.  I thought the depth they went into in Bruce's background was good.  It was definitely (as I expected) a much darker movie which was great.

I liked seeing the background as to how he got all his gadgets - although realistically what does Morgan Freeman do all day (what is/was his role in the company), it was a little far fetched that he worked in that Envrionmental Science department by himself.

I must admit I was surprised that the ninja guys were behind the whole plot against Gotham City - a bit surprised but also disappointed.  I would have preferred if they left the fact that Batman didn't want to be as ruthless as they wanted him to be when they trained him, they had the fight, he won, he left, leave it at that.

I agree withs some of the comments about Joey from Dawsons Creek, she acted ok.  But visually she just still seems like a kid so she was probably not the ideal choice for the role.  Although her acting was fine, she was just cast incorrectly.

As for Bruce Wayne (I can't recall the actors name) he did a good job as Batman - as Bruce though the jury was still out for me.  He didnt' quite pull that off IMHO.

The rest of the film and how they tied everything together - all the cliche things from the original series, from the batcave and how he found it and made it, to the batman logo on the light I thought it was excellent.  Very little childish cringe factor which was great.

I've mentioned a few things that I didn't like, but that was relatively minor in the scheme of things.  Overwhelmingly I thought it was a very good movie.

I'm looking forward to TDK.

I gotta confess to knowing didely squat about this dude and Spacehogs (or whatever they are).

So I've got a totally open mind (well not entirely open because deep down I am realistically waiting to be let down again).

It's Robin Fink were talking about here. That's all he does is play stuff he had no hand in writing. Whether it with GNR, NIN, or his little Led Zepplin deal. The guy got the gig of a lifetime cause Axl had a mancrush on anything NIN, not because of anything he had written.

Yeah very true - lol, he should be used to it by now.

I agree with what you said too MonkeyChow.  I don't like hearing the AFD stuff changed massively.  When rocking out to a song and you hear a solo or something - you wanna hear it exactly how you know it from the original.

If I'm playing air guitar and making noises to sound out the solo to it and rockin out, I don't want the guy that's plugged into the amp playing something different to what I am in my head.

I know there is a school of thought on doing your own interpretation and putting your own print on the song, but you can't do that with songs that are as well known and were as big a hit as most of the GN'R songs.  I think you can put your own style onto the intro (e.g. like Slash would play the Godfather theme or something) before the song or your guitar solo spots.

I think if he does it intentionally and it's a dig at anything, it's because he has to play those damn songs.

When the majority of what you are serving up is AFD rehash stuff that you had no hand in writing, I would be pretty blase about the songs too.

It would be hard to get fired up night after night, week after week, month after month, year after year playing AFD stuff and not your own material.  It's probably not intentional on his part but if it's how he feels deep down whether he wants it to or not it will eventually reflect in his playing.  If you are really a passionate muisician with any ability and your playing is a way of connecting and communicating with your audience then your personality, feelings and emotions are eventually going to show thru in your playing.  I think it's a subconscious thing that is eventually unavoidable.

If that's true, it sounds like the lamest thing I could think of for him to do.  In fact if I was trying to think of lame things for him to do, I don't think I could have even come up with that idea.

Mind you with the spelling and factual errors in that short article it doesn't really help its credability.
