you compare the new gnr without slash to metallica and ACDC? come on dude, you can`t be serious about that... metallica and acdc still have their most important members and to compare their newest albums to chinese democracy is another weak link of your agumentation. i can only speak for germany, but those two records were VERY succesful. i`M not a fan of acdc, but in my opinion death magnetic seriously rocks.
if an actually promoted new gnr record could be succesful is another question

so true. And honestly if the first show doesn't go off without a hitch take it to the bank that whatever "controversy" comes of it is completely staged. There's no way a band/singer could fuck up this many times so if something happens it's fixed.
I'm betting on everything going pretty well but I wouldn't be surprised if this tour is littered with odd "controversial" reports cause lets' face it it's not a "headline" tour so they need to drum up some kind of attention
in my opinion axl is just flat out crazy. he`s a fuckin maniac..... i don`t think anything is or ever was staged and that`s not meant as a praise.

i`m seriously blown away by the version of this i love. how is someone able to replace this fantastic work with robin`s half assed solo???
in general, i think that these versions show a lot more of the genius we looked for in chinese democracy. it is there, but it`s a shame you have to look for it that deeply....
ron should`ve stayed out of the picture entirely if you ask me... and the album should`ve been mixed by someone who knew what he does. i bet i`m not the only one here, who cringes, thinking about the lost potential this album shows..... it`s sad really. this strengthens my opinion, that CD could easily have been the masterpiece we hoped it`d be....
i need those multitracks!! badly!!! and i`ll create my personal killer album!!

I don't see any demo remixes happening with the RB2 stuff Doc.
I think what some want to do is use the isolated tracks, to simply turn up the mix on guitars or bass in places, and turn down the rest of the mix.
Maybe also get some just straight instrumentals without vocals.
I don't think anybody is thinking they're going to isolate every single bit of audio from CD. If CD is anything, it's rich. I also think the isolated vocals will feature all of the synth too.
do you have the shakler`s mogg file?
the isolated vocals are just that, the vocal track. there are like 10 different tracks. two of them being the main vocal track and one being the "background vocals + everything else background" track.

Is there anyone 'out there' making better mixes of the songs? That's what I'm really interested in. Especially with Madagascar.
as of now only the louder vocal tracks are available. i don`t know what is going on with the ogg files. when we have those, everyone can make their own remixes with audacity.

well most people i know like most of the record.... as for the public: CD has been slated by one of the biggest radio stations in my area. in a big german tv show there was a question going "which band released the first record for 15 years called chinese democracy, that was pulled to pieces in reviews and still made it to number one in thirteen countries?"
there are positive reviews, and probably just as many as negative ones, but obviously many people are just picking up the negative ones. i guess there are lots of people out there who waited for years to give axl a big fuck you for breaking up the old band....

i bet axl is half as obsessed with album sales and the release in general as 90% of the "fans" posting on the message boards....
does it have any consequences on your life if cd only sells 300.000 copies in the first week in the US?? i don`t quite get it.
as bright eyes mentioned, there are only 1000 best buys in the USA, you could listen to cd on myspace and there was no real promotion for it. it appears to me that sales was not everything they went after.... or something went terribly wrong.
i don`t care to be honest.
