"But I think [Axl`s] passion was always in the right place. He was like, 'You know what? When I feel that it's done, that is when it is going to be done,' You can look at that any way you want. And if you're the leader of the band, it fucking falls on him anyway. Good or bad, successful or not. I think whatever he had to go through to get to that point is totally cool. There's none of us that could have ever gone to him and said, 'Dude, I think you're taking too long.' That wouldn't have made sense. He had to do what he had to do to make it the right record, and only he knew in his head what that was going to be."
I dont see this as conclusively saying that its "the Axl Rose show"
He says Axl's the "leader" of the band but that was never in doubt.
That doesnt mean its not a band on band terms, Roger Waters was the leader of Pink Floyd for years ( but his behavior made a change inevitable)
Paul Westerberg, Kurt Cobain, Eddie Van Halen, Tony Iommi (even in the 70s)
Many others. Nothing was done till those guys said it was, but that doesnt mean those were not bands.
He said things fall on Axl that's also in no doubt. He gets blamed for everthing
as the leader rightly or wrongly, nobody who hates this album blames the band at all. If your going to get blamed for something geing bad or a flop you have should at least make it a bad flop you are happy with.
Tommy seems to understand that it's easy for him and the others to say it's good enough becouse they are not the ones who will be shit on for it.
None of this explains or justifies the stupidly long wait, but it does just as little to say this is not a band or that the abum is less than the sum of it's parts.
it just says Axl had to be happy with it since he was going to take the shit for it more than the others.
...God I sound like a nutswinger.

I dont think anyone is more fedup with the linechanges than Axl.
He is the one who takes all the shit for it.
If he wasnt why would he have given Finck all that time and space to make his choice, looking like an ass not knowing who was in the band in the process.
I know what youre gonna say " But its his own fault" maybe it is maybe it isnt.
We dont know the details for each one, look at big B there where alot of rumers about problems with other members more than with Axl.
#24 Re: Guns N' Roses » Josh Freese on Axl and Chinese Democracy » 846 weeks ago
Always wanted to hear Freese's take on the fiasco. Too bad he didn't go into more detail.
As far as why Freese left, isn't it obvious??
He wanted to release music. Its why all people leave the project. Their resumes are stagnant while in GNR, they leave, then see a massive increase the moment they leave.
Stagnant?

Matt said that Axl would spand hours on the phone with his lawyers so I dont think the normal thing you or I would do (get a lawyer say do your thing and leave them to it) really applys. I dont think Axl lets his lawyers file one thing without telling him what, where, when, why, and how.
I dont consider myself an Axlite, I just choose to give the CD era the benefit of the doubt, put it in the rear veiw mirror and hope it will end with a tour, and the band as it is now will solidify into something tangible that will go forword from there.
#26 Re: Guns N' Roses » Tommy in Bass Player Mag » 846 weeks ago
Who knows eveything is speculation at this point, label pressure maybe?
As for the rest of the wait we know that from this point on Axl got sued almost every year from that point on.
Then add Rons parts to an album that was probably more less done at that point. Del said that recording was done early 07. We know that mix was turned in by that fall. Then dealing with the label who would not talk to Axl till he got management so that dealing didnt start till late March.
its all one big clusterfuck.

When I see that vid it just Confirms what Tommy said.
Axl wanted him to re-record the parts but he also said, Roy wanted it in one piece start to finish not in parts.
I know you dont want to give Axl an inch and that is understandable but Roy does have a reputation similar to Micheal Beinhorn, with storys that are just as nuts.

BM: In 2005 “Adler’s Appetite” recorded an E.P. with original materiel. Do you have any plans on going into the studio and recording a full length album?
SA: Absolutely! Next week, (First week in April 2009) once we finish this tour up, I am going to go home for a few days and just sleep. We have done 22 shows so I am going to sleep for a few days then I am going to have a couple meetings with Slash. I have been working with Slash. I am producing a record and playing on it of course, so that will be in a week or two that we finish with this (the final date on the tour).
BM: Is that going to be Slash’s solo record?
SA: No, that is going to be my record, but I am going to play a song on Slash’s solo record too. So I will be doing some recording with him on that, but he is going to be producing my record.
BM: Are you going to have any gust appearance on you’re record?
SA: Of course, we want eight cover songs. With each song we do we want at least one person who played on the original version to play on my record. I am thinking about changing the name to “Adler’s G.N.R.” too, because you cannot copyright the letters. I am 1/5 of the band just like he (Axl Rose) is 1/5 of the band. At least I’m out there playing the songs people want to hear.
BM: So this is not going to be just a regular recording, it is going to have everyone on it?
SA: Ya, I want to do it old school with a two inch tape and not with computers. I want an old sound, not perfect and crispy. I do not want to take away the magic of the songs that I re-do. Nowadays people go into the studio and record a song… the drummer will play 30 seconds of the beat and type the rest of it in on a computer. I want it all real, that’s how we did Appetite… it was done in one take. It was anything goes, whatever happens, happens.
BM: The last time I did an interview with you, I had asked you about the new “Guns N’ Roses line up and you said that “there is no new Guns N’ Roses.” Do you still feel the same way, and have you heard Chinese Democracy yet?
SA: Ya, Axl should have named the band W.A.R., for W. Axl Rose and I think that would have been much better.
BM: Axl Rose did a recent interview with Del James and when asked about a “Guns N’ Roses” reunion Axl gave a reason for not considering it and listed why involving every former member. Axl said “Steven [Adler] brings assorted ambulance-chasing attorneys and the nightmare of his mother. One gig, or even a couple songs, could mean years of behind-the-scenes legal aftermath.” What is your response to that?
SA: I do not know why he would say that. My mother-thing is over and I do not know why he is still going on with that. Now that I’m back in control and have power of attorney, I don’t know why he would say ambulance chaser. I don’t get it.
#29 Re: Guns N' Roses » DJ Ashba First Impressions » 846 weeks ago
The first BC album has me thinking he will fit well with Ron and Richard.
I couldn't care less about sixx am or the crue album.
But I see how he could work well with this band.
I just hope Axl doesnt have him add bits and pieces to the next album.
As much as I love what Ron did in the rhythms and his leads I feel that having three lead players did take something away from the continuity of CD.
Its clear Axl wants all involved to be represented on what the band puts out but as admirable as that is, four leads may just kill the next one.
Maybe thats just me?
