Realize all the good things I have right now (and am very thankful for) instead of the things I don't.

That new Riad solo still feels out of place to me.
Yeah, it feels that way to me but I really like the song so I overlook it.
I'm listening to CITR right now, and while I wouldn't be as harsh to it as I was when hearing the final version for the first time, there's just something missing from this track.
Again I agree, something just doesn't work together but the song is so strong it rescuses the flaws. As far as Scraped I made my initial judgement on that small skipping leak that we all had. I thought it would be good but it and Shackler's are the two songs I now like the least. I would have actually left Scraped off the album and replaced Shackler's with a retooled Oh My God.
If The World.
I was not a fan of the lyrics at first. But the musicianship on it is really good and Axl's vocals are great. It's now one of my favorites on the album.
Same here. I wasn't crazy about the song at first either but the song is now one of my favorites for the same reasons you stated.

I'd be interested in knowing what songs (and in what ways) he had to retool guitar work on to add his touch to that respective song.
Also let him know that we appreciate his cool attitude and respect to our community. Finally congradulations on being part of a great fucking album!

With all the negativity surrounding Chinese Democracy on the boards right now I've got to say I think it's premature and unfounded.
You guys that have known me for awhile know that I am a realist and often tread into the "pessimist" territory, (I've always believed the line that seperates a person from being labeled a "pessimist" or a "realist" is a very fine one), but this album is very good and imo the criticisms are far overdone. The more I have listened to it the more I appreciate it. Take away some of the mixes not being perfect nor the sales not being high as we wanted and the truth is you still have a VERY good album.
Songs I originally didn't care much for are now some of my favorites. To me that is one sign of a very strong album. I've found that Sorry, If The World and Catcher in the Rye (I didn't like the additions at first) have REALLY grown on me. The only two songs I really don't care for now are Shackler's and Scraped. I liked Scraped when I first heard it but it fell fast. Didn't like Sorry when I first heard it but it grew on me fast!!!
I was just curious if you guys had experienced the same sort of thing with some of the songs on the album?

I listened to the album while on a rather long drive again tonight and I have to say it has grown more and more on me. Fuck everything else...it's a good album. I hope it gets the credit it deserves and I think it will in time.

ain't gonna sell 3 million in the US...no way in hell....maybe 3 mil worldwide over the next 6 months or so.:|
We'll see. I don't think it will happen fast but I DO think it will when all is said and done.

That was a good read, a bit optimistic but good. However I do have to say the album has grown on me and I feel it is a good album. I can't put it at the level of songs like Coma, Estranged, Civil War and Breakdown however. So for me it doesn't outdo the UYI's. I think it makes a decent UYI III however, and that is quite a compliment within itself.

I liked the first album. Torn/Ode/My Own Prison were all good tunes. The second album got too "sticky" for my taste but there were good moments on it (like What If) as well as the album that followed. Each album did drop in quality however.

We all have a right to be angry...we waited a VERY long time for this and it is frustrating to see how it has been "promoted". This album wasn't ever going to be the juggernaut it was hyped up to be but it could have easily sold 500,000 copies the first week with a little better promo, a video and for fuck's sake if you are going to do an exclusive go with the largest retailer in the world (Wally World), not Best Buy.
There's one site that has less bitching than all others, but that's only because the bitching is deleted all the time.
Where in the HELL would that be James?
