Can anyone here recommend a good place to start with these guys?
I liked that song Dakota they put out a few years ago, and have been meaning to check them out more, but never got around to it.
Tonight I saw them playing on that show Later with Jools and fuck me, they play some pretty kickass guitar rock, I had no idea!
Now, I really have to check out some of their cds. But where do I start???
Help please.

Perla is the Beta Lebeis of VR/Slash.
That's a bit of a stretch...
But I highly doubt that Slash would get in with Ozzy anyway, Ozzy's guitar player now and forever will be Zakk Wylde.

Regardless of how little his input is on CD, there's no denying he is an awesome guitarist.
I thought his solo spot when I saw GN'R live in Australia was the best of all 3 guitarists. Bumble was too much shredding (aside from his usual Don't Cry rendition), Robin's was mostly noise, but Richard's was great. Reminded me of something Slash would play. He has a killer live tone as well.
I don't know what the future of GN'R holds, but I hope he has bigger contributions to future material.

Man, I forgot about that Street Child solo, that is some of Slash's best playing since GN'R. I think the only other song he gets close to that kind of feel is the solo in VR's You Got No Right.

Wow, it's amazing to see how many people think, that despite all it's flaws, Chinese Democracy stands up as a Guns N' Roses album.
Me, I'm still on the fence about it.
I think I'm most comfortable as it being an Axl solo album. Guns N' Roses albums prior to this are all pretty fucking flawless to me, even TSI.
But CD just has too many "what the fuck?!" moments going on for me to consider it up there with the rest.

I kinda relate to you Bono, but it's more that the leaks spoiled allot of the surprise, and made it an anticlimax, which I guess is my own fault.
But fuck man, we needed, (or I at least needed) to hear those leaks, which again served as a justification for how long we'd all been waiting for this album, and to hear a glimpse of what we were waiting for, and that it wasn't just a huge waste of time.
Walking into JB Hi-Fi last Saturday to buy Chinese Demcracy, there off the shelf, walking up to the counter to pay for it, it was strange.
I wasn't giddy with excitement, I wasn't even in a hurry to get back to my car to listen to it. And only a few days later, I'm not really listening to it that much either. Maybe it's because I've heard 90% music already for the last 2 years and I'm already over it?

And Perla looks pretty good in that video too.

Ozzy vocals on a song: very fucking cool!
Fergie vocals on a song: very fucking wrong!
I suppose at least now we know it'll have a bit of variety.

I just love Slash's guitar across this album. I reckon UYI 2 is more Axl's vision with all the ballads and piano stuff, but UYI really shines with Slash's riffing and solos. Coma and Don't Damn Me are just fucking awesome.

Strongest song on the album is Down On The Farm.
A very underrated album. Sure it's GNR's weakest effort, but it still blows other bands away. Really the only tracks I didn't like was Raw Power & Buick Makane.
Down On The Farm, Human Being, Ain't It Fun & Hair Of The Dog fucking own, and the hidden track, Look At Your Game Girl is an extremely underrated acoustic tune, that imo is as good as GNR's other acoustic efforts on Lies & You Ain't The First.
Funny you say that, because I consider Raw Power one of the best, just has a killer groove to it, and Duff really suits the vocal style quite well.
I still listen to TSI from time to time as it's a fun album to just rock out to.
