CD starts tomorrow? Heard a guy from a Norwegian general music forum saying he was told by a record store employee they will start to recieve the album. This is definitely no bullshitter, but he could of course have been mistaken.
Seems a bit early to me. Thoughts?

You're forgetting one thing: This album actually took 14 years to make. The songs as we heard them years ago were not in any shape finished enough to be released. I don't even think the 2006 album should've been released. What we've been hearing these last few weeks are songs that have been greatly improved, even though the changes seem small, and for the first time I can honestly say that they have reached the proper level.
It's sad that it took so long, but we got to realize it could not have happened any other way. If the price to pay for a great album is the band falling apart, so be it. It is kind of ironic in a good way.

Freese left NIN to play for Axl, no? If so it would make sense for them to use him to describe the scenario. Arguably 'pulling a robin' would be a more appropriate term, but I guess that defeats the whole purpose.
#4214 Re: Guns N' Roses » Is there a song where Axl sings about Slash? Per Younggunner yes » 913 weeks ago
Axlin08 wrote:Sorry is definitely about Slash.
No one knows that for certain
Judging by several factors it does seem to point that way though.
The manly, controlled and accusing melody. As opposed to the begging, melancholic and heart breaking feel of the love ballad.
The Slashesque solo.
The overall use of lyrics pertaining to a single person or conflict.
If he was directing it at a group of people, or a set of different people, representing his feelings, he would use lyrics with a more general theme. Bad Obsession and Right Next Door To Hell are good examples of this. Only natural, a person will always have a stronger emotional connection to a single person, affecting the songs you write about it.
There are lyrics that can be interpreted different ways, but I'd say all of them could be interpreted to be about Slash. That I think weighs heavily in his 'favor'.

The money is the agenda. You can write whatever you want, if the editor allows it, but most obviously don't. There are internal rules of conduct in every business, now I don't know exactly what they are in the media, but I think I can make a pretty good guess:
Big advertisers, off limits or downplayed. Broad issues, complexity. Off limits, too confusing, not profitable enough.
Imagine how that's like in a major paper owned by a major conglomerate, where the news are scientifically spun to appeal to the largest amount of people. Consider it when Rupert Murdoch said, a man delivering information to a billion people, that he maliciously tried to sway public opinion in favor of the Iraq war.
Of course there are honorable exceptions all around, in their own right, but it's just that, they are exceptions. Remember were just talking print here, most people get their information from television, and I think we can all agree the situation is far worse in that medium.
Now, I don't say there are any easy solutions to this, but I do think it's a good and healthy topic.

"American Communism" ... sounds like a great title for the follow up...
It's not often that I pray...

Sure, why not. If it brings me an album I'll believe it.

It's not the story per se. It just made me think about the current environment in the media, how dishonorable and commercialized it has become, and how damaging that is to society.
Appreciate the effort at least.

How about, it just happened and someone reported it. Not everything is a global fucking conspiracy.
How about calling it what it is, and recognizing the effects? Who did it or how nature made it happen is immaterial. You telling me as a news man you consider this a solid, factual article with any positive relevance to the public interest?
Or is it a fluff piece meant to make a buck, advised by the marketing division, which also work on the level of propaganda?
#4220 Re: The Garden » Two schoolgirls blinded in acid attack in Afghanistan » 913 weeks ago
So its not even remotely possible that this attack was done by former members of the Taliban who freely admit they dont have alot of regard for women?
Remotely, sure. But does that justify a news story with an angle?
The article says it itself "Got away, we don't know who it is, nobody has taken responsibility, loose rumors say terrorists did it". For all we know some bomb victim got paid 20 bucks to make up a story.
This is not news, it's spin propaganda. Cause as I said, even if it were absolutely true, who gives a shit? Unless it's on the terrorist manifest or representing a trend, what justifies this making the cut in a limited news coverage? I'm pretty sure there's a lot more relevant issues going on than this.
Need I mention the nutcase Christian that slaughtered those school girls? He had women issues too, and so does Christianity. Doesn't mean wnat I to connect them.
