I will say that if Kalil Mack was worth 2 first rounders then Stafford is absolutely worth 2 first rounders. He's a significant upgrade from Goff and I expect the guy to play another 5 years at least.

I've never been impressed with Goff and quite frankly I'm starting to realize that draft picks themselves are over-valued. The whole thing is a crap shoot even for the best scouts and GM. I am coming more and more around to this idea that trading first round picks for a known commodity is the way to go. 3-4 years of production from a known commodity is better than gambling with draft picks and I think you'll see it more and more.

I agree.  Certain positions in football are very really hard to acquire in the draft.  #1 game changing pass rusher (like Mack, still can't believe were stupid enough to trade him in his prime), shutdown CB, maybe LT and franchise qb.  The Rams traded picks for a CB in his prime that is a shutdown cb and now a top 15 qb.

What are the odds that they would have been able to acquire that with their draft picks which weren't high?  Very low since they are a good team.  In that aspect, draft picks are over rated.  I mean they aren't trading these picks for a G or ILB.  QB's have a huge bust rate but the NFL has placed so much importance on the position, you have to try to get one by any means.

I just saw the Lions traded Matt Stafford to the LA RAMS in exchange for Jared Goff and two (TWO!) first round draft picks. Holy shit... Well, good for the Lions. I've thought they needed to trade Stafford for years, but I never thought they'd get that kind of hall. Even if Goff bombs, it's basically a free young QB to take a flyer on. I wouldn't have given up on him this early, but that doesn't matter now. I

Now lets see where Carson Wentz goes. My bet is New England.

There are at lot of teams that need a good qb.  Wentz isn't likely to be traded given that they more or less chose him over Pederson.

I'll add Mitch Trubisky, also. I think the Goff trade will really throw a wrench in things in terms of perceived value. He was traded for virtually nothing, just a bow on the package, for a 30+ old QB who's never shown he can win the big game.

I just read Deshaun Watson is next.

Trubisky is a free agent.  Goff was traded and they more or less had to attach a first rounder because his short term contract is pretty bad.  DET is scheduled to pay him something like 43 million dollars in guaranteed money this year.  The Lions can cut him next year if they choose.

Goff is not good though.

He's not terrible. I mean, is 31/32 year old Stafford even worth 2 1st rd picks at this point in his career?  Let alone two 1st rounders AND Goff?!

Detroit could do some major damage in the draft if they have their own picks too (not sure if they do).  2 first rounders this year, OL, WR & D in the 2nd rd, next year DL, LB and OL in 2nd round. Or something like that.

Wags is right.  Goff is pretty mediocre.  I watch him play a fair amount.  He usually falls apart if he has to scan the field and read the defenses.  He looks great when the first read or option from the McVay playcall is open.  He throws a pretty pass too.  He's basically holding the Rams back at this point.

Who do you think are the Top 5 parties?

Responsible for the album not coming out years earlier (2000-2003)?

1. Label politics

2. Pure shit management

3. Axl

4. TB

5. Band members too scared to give ultimatums

Responsible for the saga in general, including the hiring/auditioning process?

1. TB

2. Axl

3. Pure shit management

4. Label politics

5. Hardcore fans for not walking away....only half kidding.

Spliting hairs here but isn't #2 Pure Shit management on Axl since he hired that person?

Other than that, agree on MisterID, it's all on the redhead.  He wanted control of the band, he got it and all the responbility that came with it.

Id like to know if those involved fluctuated over the months before it broke down. Was it initially going to be a classic lineup reunion or was a hybrid already taking shape?

Example...

Where's Izzy in all this? Obviously he played a role in it. He toured with new GNR off and on. Is he "All In" at this point?

With Izzy in.... Fortus isn't needed.

Duff obviously knocks Tommy out.

Slash removes the need for Bucket/Ron and also makes Finck redundant and expendable.

We know Dizzy would be in.

Where's Sorum? Where's Adler? If these two are out or in a "guest appearance" role, this means Brain is in the running. Frank hasn't entered the equation yet.

In a world without CD or a revamped CD with the old guys, is Pitman also expendable? 2016 tells us that the answer is probably yes.

I wouldn't rule out Tommy in > Duff out. There were definitely going to be some Nu Guns guys still in the band. Don't forget the hybrid logo...just add Slash and you can sell a New Classic GnR. Is this around the time Slash called Duff spineless?

Yes, that was during the infamous drunken late night visit to Axl's house.

Another is Biden is really JFK Jr. wearing a Biden mask like Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible.

Total insanity.

I always have to remind myself that there are actual living breathing humans here who believe this stuff no matter how batshit insane it sounds.

Tampa Bay's defense is nothing special. I don't even think they rank in the top 10. If they do, they barely make it.

I think they are top 10 in points allowed which is a pretty important stat to me.  Brady played like shit in the 2nd half and definitely got bailed out by his D.  Lafleur coached a shitty game which helped.

Rodgers did play better than Brady.  His team just fucked up at the worst possible time.

Not surprised about the AFC CG, but the Bills coach settling for FG made no sense.  If you're going to play that type of defense against Mahomes in which he chews up the damn clock.  You have to maximize your own offensive possesions and not settle for FG.  You have to match them score for score.

It's a decent SB matchup I just don't know if Brady can put together one entire game of good qb play.  I'm rooting for TB, Brady isn't going to be playing much longer and to be honest he only was a thorn in my team's side for maybe one playoff game years ago.  I know this one NYJ who hates him much much more.

The flow of conversation has already changed but I want to comment on the race topic a few pages back....

Im with Flagg all the way. Poverty is the main issue. Actually it's how your community deals with it that is the problem.

The central valley has many poor neighborhoods. The absolute worst was the west side when it was majority black.... second worst is the west side when the Mexicans took it over.

Is it racist to acknowledge this? You tell me.  While telling me, come down here and I'll give you a 2 am cruise of these neighborhoods and I'll take a safe guess on which neighborhood you'll beg me to skip.

Hint: It's not the poor white neighborhood.

It seems to be a simplistic yet complex issue at the same time. It's also an issue where everyone is afraid to inject any honesty into the mix for fear of being branded the grand Wizard of the KKK. So nothing ever changes.

The trajectory were currently on isn't the answer. Pretending everything is racist, whining about privilege, etc just makes it worse. I remember on the Reddit feminist sub before it was banned for not believing women have penises, there were some black women on there talking about how this shit is half pandering, half talking down to them. They were right...and it's something the Dems need to figure out quick. Donald Trump was pulling minorities in for fucks sake.

If the Dems had the answer, their cities wouldn't contain massive shit hole black communities that rival Somalia's crime rate.

Aunt Jemima isn't racist. No one thinks about racism when eating pancakes...not even David Duke or Jesse Jackson. The white meth heads in Stockton are not privileged. The answers we seek are not in that direction.

This is a really good post.  There's a similar area in the state I live in.  It's been like that for DECADES.  Drugs, homlessness etc.  They have tried to clean it up but efforts always fail or it always just stays the same.  It's not race or anything.  It's that these people are poor and congregate in that one area.  I just don't know how they can solve it.  It's socioeconomic and it's trying to get these people off of the streets and into some sort of normalcy.  I really wish the government would just spend more money of those type of initiatives instead of all the other pork and shit they waste on.

Jessica Alba is terrible in it lol, almost a parody. I doubt its her voiceover and they constantly cut away every 3 seconds to a cutaway shot because she cant hold a scene. Made me realize how great Uma Thurman was in Pulp Fiction.

Jessica Alba is a really crappy actress.  The only movie she was in that I found semi-interesting was some horror film called The Eye.  Otherwise, she basically needs to be in only tv shows.
