misterID wrote:Yeah, I dont think anyone but the fans are interested in a reunion right now.
I think the fans (the die hards like us that are still hangin around) don't want to see a reunion. Most that I know of are focused on hopefully CD ever seeing the light of day OR a reunion if option 1 doesn't happen.
Having said that, I really think that the casual to "old" fan base would come back HUGE if a reunion were announced of any sort.
I think this is exactly right. Most of the idiots that stuck around did so to hear CD. The rest of the idiots stuck around hoping for an eventual reunion (which I believe is inevitable barring the death of Axl or Slash) and to see if the new band was worth the wait.
IF a reunion were announced today, it would be far bigger than a CD release announcement. Sure, the forums would possibly be more excited about CD (and I say possibly because I really believe that most of the people saying they don't want a reunion would cream their pants if one actually did happen), but the response from the people outside the board would be unbelieveably huge. A reunion would take the forums from slow to more traffic than any of them could handle in a matter of days. CD would just keep the people already here talking more, and while there might be an initial flood of people coming back, you won't see new faces unless the material can stand on its own.

My show was cancelled too. I have such great memories of that tour...

It may be my favorite VR song or at the very least it's right there with Slither and far ahead of FTP in my opinion.

heavy lies the crown...obviously Axl overestimated his ability to "lead" and make all the decisions.
This is just my opinion:
Axl isn't a leader, he's a follower. By definition, followers don't lead, they can't lead. Leaders make the tough decisions when they need to be made, but also empower those that they are leading. Axl could make the tough decisions, but instead of being confident in his decisions, he surrounded himself with people that would support whatever decision he made because he lacked the confidence to take construcive criticism. Once he owned the b(r)and, anybody that questioned him was out: management, band members, hanger-ons, etc.
As much as Axl hated being questioned, in retrospect, he obviously needed it. Being challenged motivated Axl. I don't remember where I read it, but I think he said he had a hard time writing Coma because Slash wrote this great song and he had a hell of a hard time coming up with the lyrics to match the music. Ultimately he did and that song is regarded by most fans of the band as one of if not the greatest Guns song ever. I don't want to start an old vs new debate, but Slash took songs written by other people and took a lot (certainly not all) of them to a new level. I don't think Slash is a great song writer for the most part. History bears that out (though there are a few exceptions). What he does best is taking an existing song and putting down a killer guitar track that compliments the style of that song, but also fits his playing style. Axl is a great songwriter, but doesn't understand the band element enough to complete a masterpiece by himself. Axl is a genius at what he does - lyrics and song structures. Slash is a genius at what he does - killer solos and guitar melodies. That is the perfect storm from a rock band perspective and I believe a big reason why neither is as good without the other, but both do well enough on their own to get by.

Axl tried to take over because Izzy was gone and he knew it was a sinking ship. His best buddy left and his other two friends were complete junkies. Not a very stable environment for making a record.
Axl may feel he was justified in what he did. I'm not here to argue whether he was right or wrong. History indicates he was wrong, but at the time it may very well have been the right decision and maybe Slash and Duff would be dead had he not made that decision. Who knows for sure. The point is that his taking over the band destroyed the band. Again, whether he was justified in doing so is a different debate.

Conversations aren't being "dictated" here. You've been in this community long enough to know that topics are pretty much allowed to flow in whichever direction they go, within reason of course.
You have to admit that posting nothing but "getting to know you...." in the middle of a discussion is a bit odd. Just because someone didn't get the point or joke you were trying to make doesn't mean someone's telling you what you can or cant say.
If you can say what your thinking in one line should you use two? Sounds very institutionalized to me to use two if the reference is fairly obvious...Sometime when you walk a mile in someones shoes you better understand the path... therefore "getting to know U" seemed sufficient a comment to me in this drama that who knows who will write the final lines too. He got the reference and chose to be condescending. Thats not really adding much to the discussion is it? He did not say what does the King and I have to do with it did he? Point taken add more lines....
You're obviously too smart for the rest of us, so you'll have to lower yourself to communicating in a caveman manner (sorry Geico guys) like the rest of us or accept that we're not always going to understand your ultimate wisdom on first take.

Wrong. Very, very wrong. The illusions album were not Axl's vision. They were a mish mosh of everybody's vision. Axl, Izzy, Slash, and Duff all had songs on there of their choosing. It was done in an effort to keep the peace and keep all sides as happy as possible. Obviously it didn't work, but if you think the Illusions albums were all Axl's vision, you need to go back and listen to them again.
you are proving my point anyways
why would they need to go out of their way to create a "mish mosh" in order "to keep the peace"?
answer: cause axl was already asserting himself and his visions and slash didn't like it.i am not saying axl is reposnsible for creating uyi's by himself. i am saying his process of being himself on these two albums and as it pertained to being in the band left a huge mark on the albums and, at the same time, helped lead to the band's demise.
I get what you're trying to say, but why do you think Slash is the only one they were trying to keep happy? Axl was asserting himself and nobody (other than Dizzy...lol) liked it.

I could send my local radio station CD, and they would most likely play it within hours, at least once.
AH HA - now we know who's hoarding the record. You could only send it to them if you had it!
#6260 Re: The Garden » Voters Trust McCain More than Either Democratic Candidate » 941 weeks ago
Actually it's been brought on by the democratic party. The good news (for them) is that there's still plenty of time to overcome this. Really, no poll right now makes a difference. As someone that leans towards Republican, I can honestly say I hope none of the candidates win. I think they all suck, but I'm sticking with my "Anybody but Hillary" campaign. There's got to be something better than this out there.
