#6651 Re: Guns N' Roses » The Next Chapter or the Grand Finale? » 958 weeks ago
I think a little bit of both (hate to take the easy road
). If it comes out I don't think it will be Axl or GnR's last album, but i do think all future GnR releases will have less impact on the days music scene. Rock is in the gutter, so on one hand alot of people are looking forward to it. But at the same time, it's not going to be some 50 year old rocker which will be the savior either. So the future GnR releases will not be as highly anticipated (unless it's a reunion album with the old band, but that will be more for novelty purposes, not so much for the music).
CD will not explode & be the AFD for this new band, but I don't think it will be the only album either. Most likely as Neemo said, another album or two will be due. And likely the songs are already recorded, will just be released a year or two later, with maybe a few new songs written & recorded & added in.
But I think this band is not going to be "GnR" for more than 3-4 years after CD is released. So in a way, it'll be the beginning of the end for its existance.

My picks:
Seattle
NYG
Jax
SD
I should pick Wash only because I think Seattle's a joke, with no running game & limited offense. What happened to Tampa, I thought they were better but they finished 9-7? How do you win a division at 9-7?! Giants defense might become too much for them. Credit to the NFC East & AFC South, definitely the toughest divisions with 3 playoffs teams with Dallas & Indy going 13-3. These games could go either way, except for the SD game, I think that's about as close to a lock as there will be in the first round of playoffs.

yawn.... did they copy & paste this same info that was posted in Jan 06 & 07??

I agree with you all on this. Some people are so quick to point the finger they don't look at the logic or consequences that will occur. "Gov't is too big" "abolish welfare" "eliminate taxes & the IRS"!!
OK
Now, when we lay off all these government employees, almost eliminate taxes, and get rid of welfare, where will these million or so former government workers get jobs? How will we pay for things like police, teachers, trashmen?? People need to face it, we need taxes to pay for government jobs to keep people employed. FDR created it in the 30's & 40's during the Depression as most of America was out of work, so he created the WPA where citizens built alot of roads & local parks.
Some people love to hear what he says, but logically it wouldn't work. Besides, the House & Senate would veto just about every measure he put forth, and they would turn down every motion he put forth. I do think Michael Bloomburg, mayor of NYC, might run for President as a 3rd party.
#6655 Re: The Sunset Strip » Jessica Simpson film grosses $384 at the Box Office » 959 weeks ago
Now, now.
It ran in five theatres for about twenty days in late January to early February, churning up a total gross of $30,000. This means it averaged on $300 / day..
There's a big difference between $30,000 and $384!!! $30,000 could bring in only hardcore indie film buffs in the Boston area. Also it isn't much of a date movie so elimate a large part of the movie goers and word of mouth buzz for it. But $384?? That's only about 50 people??!
When I first read this I thought it meant $384 million or something?! I though, does she have a cameo in some movie or do a voiceover for a new animated movie I don't know about?!
#6656 Re: The Garden » Your 2008 Predictions » 959 weeks ago
Really good predictions James. I bet 70% will come true.
I'd say the death of a blonde woman/girl captures national headlines (whether famous or not). I'm hopping on the Obama train. Colts win, LSU wins NCAA, Phillies make it to the World Series & lose. Spurs win in a boring NBA championship. Cardinals make a good move or two & are next years "surprise" NFL team. Economy slows into a recession, although most of the public is unaware until 3-4 years from now they hear about the 07-08 recession. Stock market increases little bit, housing prices slowly drop. A new website explodes a la Myspace & youtube did a few years ago. 2 young 20-somethings becomes instant billionaires.

thats a strange tiebreaker situation between Cleveland and Tennessee. Both teams own different sets of tiebreakers over the other. They both have the same record, Browns in the driver's seat now, but if they both win next week, Tennessee gets the wild card spot because of the opponent they played. Cleveland REALLY fucked up today.
Yeah, in fact, it doesn't even matter if Cleveland wins or loses next week. It must be really rare, but I saw on TV last night if Tenn wins, Cleveland is out. But if Tenn loses, Cleveland is in, no matter whether they win or lose?? Strange!
NYG won a big one last night. I was kindof hoping they would lose so this weeks game would mean ALOT to them, and they'd play NE 110%. Now, they are in no matter what, they may want to rest their players. It'll probably be up to the players to decide how to go about it, win & go in with alot of momentum, or rest 1 week until the playoffs. I'm thinking they'll start the game playing, then pull players out. Sucks. Oh well. You're right, NE is not as hot as before. I think age on the defense is becoming a factor. Alot of their LB's are 30+, Seau is like 38... SD, JAX, & INDY would give them a run to make it tough.
How amazing was it to see Kevin Everett walking as well as he was. I thought he'd be using a walker or walking gingerly. He seemed damn near 100%. Modern day miracle. Mad props to all the doctors who treated him & advised on what to do to him (lower his body temp, inject him with saline). Ashame for players from years ago like Mike Utley & Dennis Byrd medical science wasn't as advanced for them back then.

"Don't Stop Believin'" Journey
Good song!!
As for me, U2 Achtung Baby. I always wanted to buy this album, but never did. Finally I asked for it at work in a pollyanna & got it. This thing is timeless, most of the songs could be released today & they wouldn't sound dated. This was U2's Sgt Pepper album.
