Don't blame Bush, Clinton or whomever. Blame the FED. They're the ones who are supposed to be the source of stability in the economy. Still they keep printing more and more money, further weakening the dollar.

But hey, nothing new under the sun. This will be what, the 11th recession in America since the establishment of the FED some 90 years ago.

Our country has also flourished in the last 90 years as well. Set up a graduated income tax, built a limitless roadway & railroad system, built millions of homes each decade, gave rise to corporate America & increased job growth( http://www.leftbusinessobserver.com/Stats_unempl.html ). In the 1930's the WPA was paying people to dig holes & work on parks, because there were no jobs the government had to give them jobs (which it should make people do who are on welfare but that's a whole nother story). America came a long way under FDR's regime, and has hardly looked back since.

11 recessions is nothing, it's part of the process, a give & take. But overall our countries been pretty fucking good since WWII ended in 1945. Sure it had it's setbacks, but relatively speaking compared to other countries, we've been very strong & fortunate.

I love how the media is spinning the Britney story though. They are hailing it as a smash success and her comeback is bigger than imagined, but what they wont tell you is that her album sold around 150,000 copies less than was expected. It sold around 200,000 copies.

Yeah, I think her mgmt & publicist were expecting it to sell a ton, then hail it as a big "comeback" "Oh, how sweet, she had such a tragic life & she made it thru" (a la Tina Turner & her 1984 album). Only, with downloading the album sales sucked!  And the album probably sucks too!  And to pour salt on the wounds, The Eagles album topped it to place #1 in the charts by a landslide!!

That orchestrated "comeback" failed miserably. Time to start planning for her next comeback 2-3 years from now. I guarantee you she stays in the news (TMZ) from now until then with stupid drama shit. I'm predicting a "drug-bust" and a DUI, since she already used her rehab & failed marraige cards.

Yeah I was thinking Sundin as well. Guess I forgot to add him on the question.

This thread is hi-jacked, as the last full page of posts is about how it should or shouldn't be in the GnR section. if the mods move it they'll move it. In the meantime can people discuss the outtake from the book.

I like it!!  Cool logo design.

Slash only said he forgot 3/4's of his time in Gnr for publicity & to make it sound like he was so f***ed up all the time. If you take that statement literally your as crazy as Axl. Besides, he can still write a book about the other 1/4 he remembers. So what's there not to believe??! Axl locked himself in a room & refused to leave. It happens 2 or 3 times each tour. Big deal. I remember reading about his refusing to go onstage & needing therapy before shows until midnight back in the early 90's issues of RS. He also bit a security guards lag at the age of 44 at 5 am in the morning? Don't you believe that. He's a wacko.

Lindros to Announce Retirement

The Associated Press

TORONTO -- Eric Lindros is expected to announce his retirement Thursday after 13 seasons in the NHL, according to a report.

The 34-year-old forward played for the Dallas Stars last season and became an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. He had 372 goals and 493 assists in 760 games for Philadelphia, Toronto, the New York Rangers and Dallas.

Lindros is expected to announce his decision at a press conference in his hometown of London, Ontario, according to The Canadian Press wire service, which cited an anonymous source.

Lindros won the Hart Trophy in 1995 and was part of the Canadian Olympic team that won gold in 2002, but he also battled injuries throughout his career.

Lindros was regarded as the NHL's next big star when he entered the league but he got off to a rough start after he refused to play for the Quebec Nordiques, the team that drafted him first overall in the 1991 draft.

The Nordiques traded his rights to Philadelphia a year later and Lindros flourished with the Flyers, winning the MVP award in 1995 and scoring 40-plus goals in three of his first four years.

He was traded to the Rangers in 2001 after clashing with Philadelphia general manager Bob Clarke and other Flyers officials, largely because he questioned the medical treatment he received while with Philadelphia.

Out of curiousity, who do you feel was the best hockey player of his age group (@33-36)??  I ask because being from Philadelphia I rooted for him, and saw what he did and felt he was best. I think in the 90's he was up there, but then he really fell apart. Although, it seems alot from his era did. By his era, I'm saying players like Federov, Teemu Selaane, Shanahan, Keith Primeau, Jagr, Sakic & Forsberg.  If there's someone else I'm missing please mention him. Honestly I'd say Brodeur too, but I'm trying to exclude goalies.  I'm not a huge hockey fan, and am curious to know your opinions.

The last thing I've ever expected was to see the BCS spread. It's a lousy system.

Part of the beauty of the NFL is that anything can happen. The BCS takes that away. I get having the two 'best' teams play, but part of the fun is seeing a team barely make the playoffs and then go all the way.

Any given Sunday doesn't exist with a BCS style finals.

Right. Also, a BCS would be exciting this year  in the NFL, because alot of people do want to see NE-Colts as the big game. But it wouldn't have worked in years past. Seattle-Pittsburgh 2 years ago, nobody expected them as the #1 playoff teams. I think they were both wildcard teams. 2001 Patriots came out of nowhere that year. And the 2000 Ravens. It would work this year, & maybe once in a while, but most often it would be a frustrating nightmare deciding who should be in. It's bad enough seeing it happen with college, fortunately I don't have a "favorite" college team, I just enjoy watching it.

James, yeah right now NYG AND DET are 6-2 while Seattle is 4-4. If that keeps up I'm pretty sure Seattle could get home field advantage for 1st round against either of them, even if they both finish 11-5?!  And Wash could stay home at 10-6.
