I'd be quite happy if this track was left off CD (for the love of god, please assign a pristine version of Catcher to the A-list?!)
It's pleasant enough and all I guess, but it just isn't all that impressive and is far too incoherent. It would work well as a jam-style interlude where the band mixes it up while Axl changes outfit and grabs some oxygen etc... between songs
It sounds indulgent, unfocused and basically just like Tommy teased out a fairly bog standard funk/jazz riff and the band layered shit over it. It doesn't bear the hallmarks of quality, structured and classic songwriting. I'm all for the odd bit of experimenting, but lets kep the experimentation at least interesting and unique.
The fact good old uncle Axls nasal and overly rangy vocal performance have also been thrown in the mix for good measure leaves us with a song the critics will have a field day with - held up as proof of what a farcical mess the album is.
Im sorry - this is not what I had in mind at all...
What are you talking about? If the world the main leak we have so far that spans across a lot of geners of music. It could be played on easy listening stations, soft rock, modern rock and classic/rock stations. The song is one of the better leaks, top three easily

see i dont think the lyrics fit at all for a title like prostitute...and as dave summarized a few pages back. the descriptions of prostitute dont seem to add up to the track we have heard.
but no no official word has been made as to this NOT being prostitute...its jsut been touted as the best of the new material for so long...and i cant believe that anyone thinks this track is the best track we've heard to date of the new gnr material

I would definitely like to hear it because comparing BH killing in a studio to this guy trying to replicate him live is a bit of an unfair comparison, but I don't think he improved the song any.
BTW Ron is a GREAT guitar player, he is not as good as BH IMO but you cant give Ron shit not playing BHs material live like BH did in the studio, we dont even know how BH would have played the new songs live. Ron plays CD like a lot like BH did. WE dont know how BH would have played Better live. I think ron will add some great licks to CD, im curious to see what he added, im sure it will be great

I like the lyrics a lot. I think those parts Neemo mentioned (except for Maddy and TWAT) are fantastic, and I think the whole of Chinese Democracy and Riyadh are underrated. The metaphors are pretty cool, if Riyadh seems like an underdeveloped song in the lyrical department.
The worst lyrics from newGNR are Silkworms and Song 2, imo.
How are song#2 lyrics bad? They are some of Axls best on the new songs

Cd will be huge. Its really simple, the album is going to have something for everyone. Axl as not kidding when he said the album is going to be a melting pot album. Just look on the boards, or the reviews by critics. Everyone has an opinion on what the best song is. Some people think IRS is the best song, some think is the worst. The same goes for song #2, some people think its the best leak so far and others think its awful. Has there really ever been an album esp a gnr album where no one can really agree on what 4 or 5 songs are the best songs on the album. If you take 100 diff reviews and have them list what they think the top 5 songs are, I am willing to bet not many will have the same songs in their top 5 let alone in the same order. I think this is a good thing it means the album is going to appeal to a lot of different type of people.

Open Away does not make any sense. I am fairly certain it is "Up and Away"....in other words, he is rising above whatever issues he has and is out of there......
I really like this song now and still think it is Prostitute Dave....we may have to make a little side wager on this.:haha: This song is much better than the Blues in my opinion.

Listen to Tarantula, Starz, United States and so on. The album sounds great. the Songs sound solid and thick not like a bunch of seperate layers. But whatever. I suppsoe I'll have to go digging for sources of prasie from members on this site now. the point here is nobody has answered the question whether or not you'd put you name to these "finished products" if you were a producer. I guess if you're into listening to things though a tin can they kick ass.
That is because the pumpkins songs are album cuts and the CD songs are rough cuts and are not even mixed or mastered yet. BIG difference
