Good to see Susan Rice being nominated.  I know I trust an official who goes on the sunday morning talkshows and lies to the American people.

Didn't you vote for the all time champion of lying to your face last month?

Yeah, calling someone else a liar and supporting Trump, who LIES ALL THE TIME, is just mind boggling.

Love me some Asian flicks. They still have that magic in the story telling that Hollywood seems to have abandoned. Special shout out to the Korean movie industry. Those folks put out some cracking movies.

There was an obscure Asian slasher flick that completely blew my mind. I don't remember the name. I should try to find it.

When Hollywood started remaking the 80s slasher classics, I was hoping they would call that director.

You're right... Hollywood lost it's way. That's why I started diving into foreign horror.

I really should rediscover those classics.

Ever watched Visitor Q? What a mind fuck. Even though the US was drowning in reality Tv culture, we never could've made a film like that.

There's another thing that's always bothered me about Hollywood...remakes.  Now they are re-imagining blockbusters from the 80s and the 90s which is probably even lazier.

Speaking of obscure 80s Asian films...I watched one a while ago called Evil Dead Trap.  Really effective slasher film.  Nobody makes more effective horror films than the Japanese.

I've mentioned my love for Miike before.  And Visitor Q is a unique film. I really need to rewatch it...last time I watched it netflix was still mostly known for dvd rentals.  It's also the type of film that most US audiences would never get.

Someone mentioned Korean films, I watched Train to Busan.  That was a really effective take on the zombie film.  I really hope that Hollywood stays the fuck away from remaking that one.

Even something like John Wick is sort of ripping off the old 80s-90s John Woo films.  The second John Wick film was pretty mediocre because it was just him piling up bodies and kills.  That doesn't really work if you don't give a shit about any of the characters.

Was never a fan of bladerunner ... 2049 or the original

I even rewatched the original when 2049 came out...

The whole Blade Runner thing is reminiscent of Tron...an old movie where its cult following perceives it to be bigger(and better) than it really was.

Best thing about Blade Runner was Sean Young.

I like Rutger Hauer in it as well.  Blade Runner looks good in high def.  But man that film just drags for me...and I love neo-noir too.

I'll always wonder what a Trump presidency would've been like under different circumstances. He never had a chance at a normal presidency. This madness was already in overdrive before he was inaugurated. Once he took office....an utter shit show.

This is where we diverge.  It was always going to look/be the same.  Trump is who he is.  It does not change.  The guy who doesn't pay attention at all and is dumber than shit (confirmed by multiple former members of his adminstration) those things have nothing to do with media coverage or whatever.  He'll always be the same con/huckster person.

All presidents deal with similar amounts of media coverage.  Trump was never equipped both in temperament or the political savvy or he just never understood the exact job description of what it means to be the US President and the things you have to do.  I get WHY he was elected the first time but if you look at his past it was always going to be a shitshow like this.

Only a fvcking idiot would accept this election at face value. Is there enough shady shit to overturn the election? Maybe not, but this was ANYTHING but a clean election.

LOL, you come off as a moron every time you complain about this.  Georgia got recounted THREE times and every time the result was the same.

Here's a quote from the REPUBLICAN Secretary of State yesterday:

"Today is an important day for election integrity in Georgia and across the country," Raffensperger said in a statement. "Georgians can now move forward knowing that their votes, and only their legal votes, were counted accurately, fairly, and reliably."

I mean you keep on claiming this isn't a clean election but every court decision has said otherwise.  And please don't bring up that fringy conspiracy laden crap.

Judges who have actual law degrees and election experts/lawyers have more or less said there is nothing to these claims.

Yes the wrestlemania match is the best one...they basically switched roles during the match. Bret went in the the good guy came out the bad guy. Austin came in the bad guy and became the good.

How often have you ever seen something like that pulled off?

No.  The "double turn" is what makes it such a classic match.  Bret Hart is really a tragic figure in wrestling.  His brother dies in a preventable accident in the ring.  He is most known now for "Montreal Screwjob".  Was banished/languished in WCW while the Attitude Era took off and thrived.  And he never got a proper end to his ring career thanks to the concussion/health issues from a Goldberg kick in 2000.  Compare that to Shawn Michaels who came back in 2002 and had sort of a second act to his career.

If this was a "dirty" election, some of these judges would agree with the Trump defense/lawyers.  Instead most of the judges (a lot of them Republican) basically said "this lawsuit is a joke.  Please provide evidence to back up your claims."

I feel sorry that there are people that still believe this bunk.  Trump lost, deal with it.  Most of us didn't whine this much when (insert your politician here--Repub or Dem) lost.

I have been pushing Trump supporters out of my life for the past 4 years. These morons that I used to consider friends are buying into every conspiracy theory they could find. They worship Trump like a god...they're posting videos of themselves saying things like, 'I'd take a bullet for Donald Trump.'

All this love and devotion for this terrible, terrible human being. This fraud of a man. This fake business man. All he does is get fatter, play golf and rant incoherently on camera and through social media. The guy is a straight up moron.

He continues to behave like the corrupt piece of shit that he is...I would very much enjoy it if he spent the rest of his life on the run from legal authorities.

The man is a personification of everything that is wrong with this country. No matter how poorly he behaves, he's never held accountable by his deranged group of lunatics and deplorables. Donald Trump is a turd that just won't flush down the toilet.

I don't know how you can talk to them at this point.  I have zero respect for Trump supporters, especially the hardcore ones.

Anyone have any fave holiday movies? Traditions?

Reason I ask mostly is I saw Home Alone promoted for Disney+ as the 30th anniversary of it (incredibly hard to believe), and, I was never a huge fan of this one, it is really good. Layered, with alot to it, and Macauley Culkin was a perfect fit. Watched it last night. seen it before but maybe never gave it a chance.

I may be a bit older than some of you. I was 17/senior in high school, and hated the hype & success of it, just didn't buy in. Which, now I look back, and wonder why I hated it, and also man, it woulda been a perfect movie to ask a girl out on a date on. Stupid me probably would rather drink beer & smoke cigarettes in a woods somewhere in the cold.

Yea...I mostly groan every time Home Alone comes on TV...

I don't even find Macauley that talented or interesting. He's just playing a little boy anyway....

I'm not a fan of slapstick comedy and the shows/movies that display children and babies outsmarting adults isn't entertaining to me in the least.

Plus...fucking Trump is in it.

Pretty sure Trump is in the 2nd one.  I went to the theater to watch that one on Christmas Day in 1991.  I always remember the end of that film.  It's a nice scene, that has always stayed with me, even though I don't think I've seen the film in it's entirety since then.

Will try to watch Scrooged, Planes Trains, Automobiles, and The Ice Harvest.  Will also try to catch the 1960's version of Santa Claus is Coming to Town.  Yes, I'm a sucker for those things.

I've already been listening to some Christmas Carols to get into the "holiday spirit".
