I didn't get into the EP i must say. But I'll give this a listen..as duff is a good guy and generally makes great 'real' music.

will never accept a GNR reunion with Matt drumming. It's Steven or Frank or Brain. Otherwise, it's garbage.
The media however would. Many articles were written about VR's formation that just said 3/5 of GNR and didn't distinguish that Matt was the second GNR drummer not the original. I think the UYI tour gave him media credibility as part of GNR in their heyday. Some articles made a lot of the "guns reloaded" kind of thing in their titles...despite no Axl, Izzy or Steven.
Appart from hardcores and purisits on here (who respect Izzy's and Steven's contributions) - i think Joe Public would be happy with anything that has Axl and Slash together (as these are the two known faces/brands of GNR) - and if you chuck duff in there as well average people will accept it 100% as GNR in my opinion.

I think this was duff using commomn sence when dealing with the media. They asked him about Axl. If he said he didn't want to be in GNR and wasn't in contact with Axl then the media would transform the whole article into "Former GNR basist tells singer to suck his dick".
So i think he just called it as it is for him - he would go back to GNR under a certain situation - but he doesn't wait around with his life praying that will happen as he knows it isn't likely - and he and Axl were friends for years and went through a lot - so he doesn't appriciate media trying to stir up a hate fest.

Interesting...considering the time they spend on the website publicly mocking those who threaten them with lawsuits...

off-topic: i wonder what happened to Skelly (SkynyrdGirl) after jarmo pissed her off. she was a fun poster.
I have a loose online friendship with her. After jarmo pissed her off she posted at ROV for a while then gave up on forums all around.
She began dating the lead singer of "Guns 2 Roses" (a huge GNR coverband in the UK) and went touring the world with them. This has allowed her to meet all the members of both the old and new GNR at various festivals and through various contacts. She's more of a party girl than ever before it seems and is basicly always posting shots of her patrying with the G2R guys.
She's now engaged to the singer and madly in love. I still chat to her occasionally, but she's well and enjoying her life anyway

The scary thing is this is like pictures from the future had I not stopped eating so much KFC
Me too. Photos like this scare me...as I realise now how easily I could have become one of those people. He may seem happy in the picutres...but his quality of life is LOW, it has to be, at that size you'd need assistance for most things... and I hope he gets help.

Who knows if there even is a right or wrong in this situation. We're talking about a lot of stress on these people, growing up on the streets, drugs, superstardom...it would have been insane.
#8149 Re: Guns N' Roses » GNR among top 20 best selling records of 08 » 899 weeks ago
That's interesting, I havn't been following sales but it seems everyone on here has been suggesting they were bad...to be in the top 20 acts worldwide can't be too bad to me.

Here's the main issue with bringing in someone new....
The hardcores are the ONLY people who give a shit about this band. Those hardcores are more interested in something resembling the line up that recorded the majority of the record to tour behind it. When you bring in every Tom, Dick, and Harry, it starts the cycle of 'this isn't GNR, its a bunch of no names, blah blah blah' that has dominated the new era since its existence.
Each time someone new is brought in, the fan base dwindles even more. The hardcores have been loyal for years. It reaches a point where they don't even know what they are supporting anymore.
Interesting post james and I'd say that's true...the only problem is....to be fair to Axl...reuniting with the ex members of New Guns doesn't really seem to be an option.
I'd say he could have made a reunion with old gnr work by now if the desire was there (which it clearly isn't from his posts) - but slash and co would have strong reason to rejoin GNR despite whatever bullshit goes down - as rightly or wrongly - the media will always see them as GNR members in some regard...getting back in the band for them might be a tough sell cos of the eventual drama...but it would come with a fat pay check, and a sence of belonging mentally by going back to their old friendships, the joy of the thousands of fans of the old band and acceptance from the press.
This isn't the case with Robin and Bucket. What do they have to gain from being back in GNR? I mean other than the obvious coolness of working with talented dudes like Axl..but they arn't going to be getting the same kind of pay check that an old reunion would, they arn't going to be getting media acceptance (if anything probably more heckling), the fan base is divided stronly between loving them and wanting them gone....I'm just saying...bucket seems like a strange guy who does his own thing anyway, robin is in a big band doing tours of the world with less drama...I'm not sure it would be easy to lure them back to GNR. So we may have to consider...Axl might want to reunite the Chinese lineup - but actually not be able to do it.
So we bring in new people. Now I agree that everytime a newbee comes in it adds to the revolving door and the "this isnt a band" comments...but then again...its nice to see the band doing something, and I think a lot of those comments also come from the periods of apparent inactivity in the media between years of action.
Another thing to consider, is that perhaps finding the 'right' guitarists to fit in would be accepted a lot better than people thing. I'm not saying if this kid is right or not as I havnt really heard more than a few seconds. But I think a lot of the Slash guys hate fink because he plays the old solos in a very different way...and a lot of people love fortus because he doesn't.
There are of course a proportion of people who will never be satisified without the old band. But I do feel...if GNR could assemble an arsenal of guitarists....who were technically beyond reproach in terms of clear overwhelming guitar ability, then hold with that line up for a number of years, tour behind it and put out some music with it...then acceptance could finally come. But thats a lot to ask.
