#821 Re: Guns N' Roses » Tom Zutaut kicked out » 911 weeks ago

Too bad this happened to Zutaut.  And if Fernando is behind this and I'd have no problems believing he is then what a fucking loser.  The guy is responsible for some leaks we got and he goes on another board and talks like he is in GNR.  If I was Buckethead or any good musician I'd avoid joining Axl's band like a plague due to parasites like Beta and Fernando.

Wow, it's amazing to see how many people think, that despite all it's flaws, Chinese Democracy stands up as a Guns N' Roses album.

Me, I'm still on the fence about it.

I think I'm most comfortable as it being an Axl solo album. Guns N' Roses albums prior to this are all pretty fucking flawless to me, even TSI.

But CD just has too many "what the fuck?!" moments going on for me to consider it up there with the rest.

I agree with you as to me it's an Axl Rose solo album and not a GNR record.  It has the name GNR but to me it doesn't sound like GNR other than Axl's voice, the music is different than GNR and it doesn't feel like GNR.  And it's not because it has too many what the fuck.  It just doesn't sound or has the feel of other GNR records.

I've got a news bulletin for you.  Lies was far different than AFD.  UYI were far different than Lies.  TSI was vastly different than UYI.  And guess what, CD is vastly different than them all.  It's called progression.  It's been going on all along, it's nothing new.  Be honest and say you don't like it because it doesn't have Slash, that's basically what it comes down to.  You like Slash's sound better than the guitarists on this record, which is fine.  But let's not try to pretend that all previous GNR records sounded exactly the same because that's far from the truth.  Note Matt Sorum mentioning the orchestra's when he joined what he thought was a f'ing kick ass Rock n' Roll band.

Man are we defensive or what!?  First of all I never said I didn't like CD, you just assumed I didn't.  I liked the album.  Gave it a 7 out of ten and would've given it an 8 or even a nine hadn't been for Finck's destroying CITR.  Yes GNR evolved as a band on each album but you could feel it was a GNR record and CD doesn't have that feel.  And no I don't want Slash on CD.  Only song he could've improved is CITR but Axl had the perfect guitarist for that song already in Brian May.  So insinuating that I don't like CD cause Slash ain't in it man that's weak.  I respect your opinions, just respect mine.  To me CD is a solo record, cause it represents Axl's vision in music.  I ain't saying it's bad.

I think the hate has to do with the fact that at opne point Slash bashed Axl a lot in the media.  And in one interview would say something and in the next would change his story.  Hence why they say he lies all the time.  For me Beta, Fernando, Del or Jarmo show a real lack of maturity in their Slash comments.  Maybe if they would mind their own business things wouldn't be that bad between Axl and Slash.

I can rip it with Windows Media Player with no problem.

I'll take that as a Catcher with a thumbs down!  lol

(Personally I actually don't mind Catcher).

To me that version of CITR sucks.  And Robin is largely to blame.  My daughter doesn't like that song obviously.  Tried again this morning.  She just turned the volume down.  I turned it up again to see what she would do and she went and turned the tv on in hopes to drown the music.  I just think it's funny that even at the early age of 1 kids can find ways to express tastes in music.

Oh trust me it wasn't tears of joy for her either.  And everytime I play CITR you can see she can't stand the song.  She'll turn down the volume, cry or just plain turn off the stereo.  Scraped I think she got over though.  She doesn't dance but just ignores it.

Allright.  I posted this story on the rate it thread but I decided that story deserved it's own topic.  I appologise to the mods if this ain't cool.  I have to share a funny story about this album.  My daughter is 14 months old.  She loves music and I say love music of all kinds.  Loves music so much she knows how to turn the stereo on, how to push play and turn the volume up if she likes a song very much and turn it down if she doesn't like the song.  Anyways yesterday while listening to the album Chinese Democracy, Malika (my daughter) was dancing the whole time and you could tell she loved the music.  When CITR started to play about 30 or 45 seconds in she just started to cry and she didn't stop for the rest of the song.  And when scraped started to play, after the intro was done, she just went and turned off the stereo turned away and went to play with her toys a happy kid.  I laughed my ass off.

It's more annoying than anything else.
