#821 Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Slash likes Disney Soundtracks » 923 weeks ago

Interesting and kind of pointless. Slash-related, nonetheless.
Former Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash loves listening to Walt Disney film soundtracks. The long-haired guitarist - who became the first musician to break the smoking ban when he lit up on stage at the Cardiff International Arena in June 2007 - is renowned for his love of hard rock music, but has now revealed he has a softer side. He said: "In my record collection you'll find the complete catalogues of Walt Disney music. All the classic themes - 'The Jungle Book', 'Cinderella', 'Lady and the Tramp' - the who
le lot." The 42-year-old musician - who is currently lead guitarist for Velvet Revolver - also admitted he has an unhealthy obsession with British comedienne Dawn French. He added: "I love anything with Dawn French in it. She's f***ing brilliant!" Despite revealing his unusual musical tastes, Slash - whose real name is Saul Hudson - also said he is proud of his rock 'n' roll background and his love of alcohol is down to his British roots. He said: "I was reunited with my family in the 1990s when they hung
out in the dressing room and cleaned me out of alcohol! I felt very proud I was part of this lineage of English p**sheads.

I don't understand Hillary's image as a "strong woman." She stuck by her husband after he got a blowjob from an ugly intern. A "strong woman" would've likely kicked him to the curb. And Neemo, I see your point about her. Especially if they know anything about our experience with a female PM. I mean, Kim Campbell spelled the end of the national Progressive Conservative party here. Sure she was Mulroney's scapegoat, but she definitely goes down as one of the worst leaders in modern politics.
I think Obama makes a good politician, if there's ever such a thing. He seems like he's in it for the good of everyone. Populist politicians tend to get elected, especially in times when drastic change is imminent. He's got a good shot of getting in the White House.

Backslash wrote:I finished I Am America (And So Can You) by Stephen Colbert last weekend. It was pretty funny and entirely ridiculous. Needless to say, I wasn't disappointed. I recommend it as a lighthearted, satirically toned read.
Next on my list is Rick Mercer Report: The Book.
stephan colbert is a familiar name..where is he from?
Colbert is the guy from The Colbert Report. It's a show that directly parodies Fox News' O'Reilly Factor. It airs on the Comedy Network after The Daily Show with John Stewart. He was a correspondent on The Daily Show before they gave him his own show. At one point last year, he announced he was running for president, which resulted in a campaign that ended in him not being included on the South Carolina ballot.
The book is all about Colbert's ideal America and how it can be achieved. It expresses blatant extremist ideas in order to emphasize their foolishness.
As for the Mercer book, it's just a compilation of his rants from the past few years of his show. Should be a fun read.

As an Arrested Development fan, I'm anticipating Jason Bateman's and Michael Cera's reunion in Juno. I'll probably see that next weekend at some point.

Nice! Watch it though, the missus is going to like it too, so you're going to have to watch it and not enjoy it too much... Two kids is enough!
That trip sounds like a hassle. As does taking down the old bed. Have you put it together yet? That's usually the fun with Ikea.
#826 Re: The Garden » The NHL 2007-08 Season Thread » 923 weeks ago
The Winter Classic is cool, but there's one major flaw; the game isn't struggling in the Northeast. It's non-traditional markets like Nashville, Atlanta, Tampa, and Phoenix that would benefit most from something like this. Unfortunately, it could never happen as those climates could never hold a game outdoors. As much as Gary Bettman wants it to, the NHL will never be as big in the US as MLB, NFL, or NBA. If they are looking to expand, it may be time to look at growing the product in Europe, where hockey is already a very popular sport. I know it creates a lot of travel issues, but it might be necessary to the longterm success of the league. Meanwhile, if that Euro-Asian league opens its doors next year, it could create a major problem in attracting the best players to the NHL. The league needs to do something to stave off the competition.

I see my paternal grandmother's maiden name in the list. I knew the name was French and fairly common. It's a little hard to trace, but it's possible her people were among the first European settlers in North America; around the 1500s.

Support the troops. Wish him luck and I hope he stays safe! We're all rooting for them over there. I mean, we can be anti-war all we want, but when we have people overseas who are risking their lives to help another nation, we need to show our support. It's great to have Canadians who'll risk their lives to help others.

Just now seeing this thread.
Santa brought me a water cooler, cookware, a few books (Rick Mercer's, Stephen Colbert's, and Slash's), a meat thermometer, an LCD monitor (22 inches of wide screen fun!), a wireless keyboard and mouse, and some DVDs. Nice haul this year!
