I really feel sorry for steve. The drugs have not done good things to his life. I can only imagine how bad it must make slash feel too. Because he has to make these decisions for his job...but everytime it makes his friendship with steve and steve's life go that bit further down the toilet, and even though it isn't really slash's fault...it would be hard not to carry around some guilt.

People don't 'cream' over that version of Madagascar because Axl is on guitar. Hell, his guitar probably isn't even plugged in. The version is considered the best by quite a few fans because of that Buckethead solo. It never sounded as good as it did at that particular show.
I'm probably in the minority on this...but i've never liked that solo. I liked that performance because it was the first time i heard maddy - a song I think is beautiful due to its inspirational lyrics and dynamic vocal melodies...while I like many of buckets CD solos...the maddy solo doesn't go anywhere to me.

Wicked...didn't have this! Thanks!

He probably could have redid that Bucket solo completely. Instead it remains intact while he adds what he would call 'sleaze' to the track.
Yeah I love that...the sleaze vibe totally gives it a better FEEL and more GNRish to me. I feel the verse parts of some of the demos are sleepy...then you get to kickass bucket solos...this kinda livens it up a bit.
I love that we get Ron and Bucket too. I mean it would be kinda sad to have him re-do all the solos when some of them were grand...but it seems good that they've let him go crazy in places (shacklers) but respected bucket's existing work in others (CD).
This track rose so much in quality from the demo that i'm so pumped to hear the rest now!

I actually think Bumble is UNDER rated as a guitarist...I wouldn't be surprised if we see him do some more kickass stuff by the time he is done with GNR. In any case he has taken CD to another level IMHO (just as bucket also did before him with the cool solos). I wish it didnt have to get to BBF vs Bucket...they are both amazing...but I think because people miss bucket they dismiss BBF...but the guy was personally recomended to Axl by Joe Satriani....i mean...come on...that doesn't happen unless you have some game.

thanx monkeychow for posting that, do you know if triple j have been playing it monkey?
My pleasure. Not sure about JJJ yet...i have some friends who listen to that almost all the time...so i'll try and sus them out about it soon.
On a related Australian note...i went into JB HiFi today and asked about pre-ordering for the expected Nov 22nd date that i'm told shows on our release schedules. The "music advisor" dude mocked me for like 5 mins and went on at lengrh about how it was never comming out and so on. I tried to tell him that there's actually a song on the radio now and so on...but he seemed more interested in having a laugh at me than actually telling me when they can take orders.
So if anyone knows a good supplier in Oz let me know.
Hopefully a few more days/weeks and JB will get their act together...and list it on their system for pre-order..then i'll go in and have the guy blow me!
#8477 Re: Guns N' Roses » Guns N Roses 'Street Team' possibilities » 916 weeks ago
My street team activities have been limited by the fact that i've told people since the leaks about GNR news and so they take it with a grain of 'boy who cried wolf' action now....but i've been sending people the link to the official website to make the point that its real this time!

But back in 87 when I heard AFD for the first time I was 14. I ran to my friends house and told him to listen to this. We were in awe! Even at the age of 14 I realised that this album was special. Anytime you heard WTTJ it made your head turn to see what the buzz was all about. From the intro it knocked you out. And the album just never let you go after that until it was over. While CD is a very strong track and it contains other very good songs. Nothing in there makes me wanna run to my best friends house to make him listen to cause I think that what I have in my hands is the greatest thing in music.
Yes but maybe if you were 14 again you would be more excited? It's unusual for adults to get as intense about anything as kids.
For my part I agree with Buzz on some things: that slash is a legend, that it's unfortunate Axl makes his more solo style album under the name GNR as that was a group effort. However it is what it is...and i've taken to getting into the music....
However I think Buzz underestimates the strentgh of these songs. Sure they aint traditional GNR. They are a different animal...but I think they're going to be VERY powerful to the average rock fan...and especially people who like kickass vocals, and impossible guitar lines...

Review from an Australian radio station - Triple M:
"First up, it's clear the new track sounds nothing like Appetite-era GNR. The song begins slowly with an ominous rumble but when the explosive double shot of Axl's wailing vocal and stop-start riff hits you're on a runaway train that doesn't stop.
On the downside, there isn't a memorable chorus and the song sounds like it's been put through an industrial processor (think Nine Inch Nails). And despite a few listens we still don't know what Axl's singing about (something about an "iron fist"?).
Overall though, the song has the muscle to move a small army. The riff is hot, the guitar solos zing and Axl's voice has the primal intensity that's made him one of the best rock vocalists of all time.
The verdict? Guns n Roses are back and they've got our attention. Now for the new album - bring on Saturday November 22!"
