Look at the hate we're breeding. Look at the fear we're feeding. Look at the lives we're leading.

Remember, we're supposed to be fans of a rock 'n' roll band. Sooner or later you come to that line that's only up to you whether or not you cross it. I see many have already made that choice. There was an understandable hunger by the fans to hear some of these new leaks, but just because you've been anxiously awaiting this album doesn't mean you're owed anything. It's a choice to buy tickets when the band tours. It's a choice to pick up live albums, greatest hits, or vinyl reissues. Nobody held a gun up to your heads and somehow conned you into it. Your disappointment that an album hasn't materialized yet doesn't give any of you the right to see how many bricks you can pull out from under the empire until it falls. If you're fans then be fans, if not then fuck off. Let them carry on with releasing this album and end all of this spiteful, hate filled, immature drama. Yes, I understand there are some in the GN'R camp who may egg it on, but look at it from their perspective.

EDIT: This post was not directed in any way against MSL specifically, but as a general response to the discussions in this thread and the general state of things as of right now.

Except whereas music videos and arguably video games are an artform unto themselves, Wal-Mart exclusivity isn't. My point was that promotion of singles via music videos has shifted from traditional music videos, which were controversial enough in their day, to interactive videos in the form of these rhythm games. Bringing big chain exclusives into the equation, the two don't correlate at all. I wasn't being a hypocrite as I believe I covered all bases of my argument 22

But such is the industry at this point that these rhythm based, music games are the primary exposure a band receives. I'm sure people were initially turned off by the concept of an MTV (and some still are). I see them as nothing more than the next step in (interactive) music videos.

Have we written off "Better" as a possibility at this point? I'm pretty sure the world at large or whoever's been paying attention so far already thinks that was a single. That said, "Better" is a much stronger choice for single than "Shackler's Revenge," which I think has far more in common with "Oh My God," a song that didn't exactly swoon the general public (although I love it).

Kickass record. Not too happy about the limited edition coming out so far down the line for those of us who bought the album when it was initially released. I actually bought it to support Baz, and this kind of double-dipping pisses me off. I would have gladly spent a few extra bucks to buy a limited edition if it had been either released at the same time, or announced as forthcoming when the regular edition was released.

If you think Best Buy is that much better, you're missing the point.

As was said, I'm not to keen on the "Most Dangerous Band in the World" returning as a Wal-Mart exclusive. Fuck that. Fuck Wal-Mart and double-fuck Best Buy. The industry painted itself into a corner and this isn't the way to turn the best profit, it's the way to alienate customers and merchants. I will lose a lot of respect for my hero, Mr. Rose, if this were to come true. I was pissed the new Priest vinyl was a Best Buy exclusive, but at least that was only the vinyl format, not the album itself. I was pissed when the Crue jumped into bed with Best Buy (and everyone else). GN'R was supposed to mean more than all of that. This is coming from an old school, "I can't believe I'm hearing Iggy Pop in a cruise line commercial" type fan. I've come to terms with an artist struggling to make money in today's music industry by licensing out their music to certain commercial properties. As long as they were music based or music related, it didn't really bother me. Guitar Hero Aerosmith makes sense and is a blast. iPod commercials make sense, too. Wal-Mart exclusives don't. Wal-Mart is everything wrong with consumer America. A rebel, road warrior band shouldn't be butt buddies with them. Period. Not GN'R. Not ever.

The first episode was about Nikki Sixx. I've seen that one and the one about Kanye West. It's a pretty cool show. Nikki Sixx was interviewed for his own, which was an hour and got into the early days with the Crue. West's was a half hour and really only talked about his car wreck and him rapping with a wired jaw. I'm curious to see Duff's.

I liked it, too. A lot. Sure, it's not Rosemary's Baby or even The Omen, but Gabriel Byrne is badass as "The Man" and I really like seeing Arnie flawed. Peter Hyams may be the poor man's James Camerson, but his directing serves the movie well and the soundtrack did have a few other good tunes. Oh, and Udo Kier as the high priest. Gotta love me some Udo.
