#9021 Re: Guns N' Roses » About the marketing » 932 weeks ago
I kinda agree but then I also think...do they really need the product to work out its target audience? We know who is buying this album regardless of what it looks and sounds like: lots of people who knew GNR back in the day, quite a few people who are casual fans and dug the greatest hits release, and hopefully some others who dig whatever the first single is. What's the big mystery? Surely theres not too much too it..

Hey Guys,
I came across this the other day:
I was pretty impressed with the quality of the footage, and the sound of Axl in this performance. From this trailer its obvious that there were at least a few songs pro shot.
According to HTGTH they played:
Setlist: Welcome To The Jungle, It's So Easy, Mr. Brownstone, Live And Let Die, Jam, Robin Guitar Solo, Sweet Child O'Mine, Knockin' On Heaven's Door, You Could Be Mine, Jam, Dizzy Piano Solo (Ziggy Stardust), The Blues, Jam, Richard Guitar Solo, Richard & Robin Guitar Duet (Beautiful), Out Ta Get Me, Jam, November Rain, Jam/Band Introductions, Ron Guitar Solo (Don't Cry), Better, My Michelle, Patience, Nightrain
Encore: Chinese Democracy, Robin Guitar Solo, Paradise City
Does anyone have or know if the whole concert exists in proshot form? I'm love to see CD, Better and Blues in that quality...and even WTJ or YCBM in a full song like that would interest me a lot....
thanks for any help/information etc

Like I said the person who claims to have a clip labeled as prostitute said its not the same song, he also told me about If the world and Riyadh, which I told you about over AIM way before they leaked out. I told you I could get those two tracks if you had all of prostitute. So you dont think that person is a legit source? Sure the song being labeled as prostitute could be a mislabel but was right about This I love and Riyadh, so why wouldnt he be right about prostiute? Why dont you answer that question?
Couldn't it be that this person is mistaken? Sure he had the names right for "If the World" and "Riyadh" but what does that prove? what GNR fan wouldn't have those labeled correctly...they were obvious from the songs. Did he claim to have a clip from prostitute as a seperate entity to Song 2 - before Song 2 actually leaked? I guess that would make it more likely that he does know something everyone else doesn't.
For the record dave, i'm not saying you need your ears checked or anything like that, i'm just saying in the world of GNR theres always a little room for doubt on any theory

Gunslinger upu might be right. Hell i'd love it if that was the case too.
I've just always wondered how many rockers will really be on the album. Like who is writing them? I always got the impression from the old band that Axl wrote the lyrics to everything and the music to the more epic/paino type tunes, but not really the guitar parts. So all the old YCBM/brownstone style riffs surely came from izzy/slash. Huge was into the OMG style sound. Bucket can surely do anything he chooses - but it seems uncommon for him to work within a traditional rock riff style song. Which leaves Robin - who i'm sure could write some cool riffs (eg better) but given axl spoke of feeling trapped artisticly by being forced to work with Slash's formulaic approach and set sound...I don't expect him to have asked them to write much hard rocky type stuff.
Anyway...i hope it does show up thats for sure!
I just feel that the whole prostitute myth is overrated. Even if it isn't this song, it's just going to be a song of compariable quality to what we've already heard IMHO, possibly with some more impressive guitar work if it is a true rocker and they let bucket go nuts

Just one thing I'd like to add: James is dead on right about (the fan base, myself included) not wanting to believe this is Prostitute. This was the last solid block of foundation for the mythical Chinese Democracy house that Axl built, if this IS Prostitute the foundation has now crumbled.
It's interesting that so many people seem to feel that way.
I'm no nutswinger, given I'm a huge fan of the old band and all that, but I'm really quite satisified with the overall quality of the songs i've heard.
Chinese Democracy, Track 2, Better, IRS, Rhiad, Oh My God, If the World, the Blues, Madagascar, There was a time, and Catcher In the Rye are all song's I enjoy in one way or another, some more than others, some for particualr reasons or parts more than others, but each one of them has provided me with something interesting. throw in another few tracks of a similar songwriting standard, maybe a cover for traditions sake (sailing comes to mind!) and mix and master it all up at top notch level and you'd have an album I would gladly buy, and more imortantly, listen to and enjoy as a regular part of my music collection.
My love of Slash made me tempted to lash out against this stuff at one time, just out of spite, but when it comes down to it, these are pretty good songs, and on a similar level to the stuff axl contributed to the old band. (if you look at Axl's contribution as the lyrics, vocal melodies, and the obvious paino based epics).
I think people who are wanting this album to be the best album of all time or somehow create some kind of cataclismic event or justify how long it has taken are in a way deluding themselves.
The massive delay was due to Axl's personal problems, business problems, legal problems, lack of muse, and the outright nearly impossible challange of starting something from scratch and building it to be as impressive a creative and talented bunch as the old band was, in the context of all these circumstances. Yes people have said it will be a good album. No surprise. Axl is a talented dude. So are the people he hires to work with him. I would expect nothing less. But is it right for us to expect that every month we wait the songs have somehow become a better standard than they would have been the month before? That's just not going to happen in my opinion. And i feel people wanting this are going to be upset with the end result.
I accept CD for what it is. A musical expression of Axl's artistic talents, showcasing the directions he felt he wasn't able to go with the old band (OMG, Rhiad) and cataloging his personal struggles and emotions as artists do (eg The Blues, Twat etc). I would expect it to be a strong record, with Axl's parts (guitar parts and fan guitarist prefrences aside - as we'll always find some people like Slash more than Bucket or Bucket more than Ron or whatever) at similar level to his previous works. To me that's what all the leaks since day 1 have indicated we will get, and I just hope one day we actually do get it.
#9026 Re: Guns N' Roses » Song #2 (Unknown Title) » 932 weeks ago
This is why the song IS NOT PROSTITUTE.
#1 FOUR people that have heard the song prostitute have said this is not it. ONE of which works for UNI. The guy on the webcast who heard prostitute even said that song isnt prostitute.
Who are these people? Anyone who is in a position to actually know? or a bunch of horders and leakers who may have incorrectly named tracks/vested interests in keeping some mystery to their collection? I'm just asking that's all.
#2 Prostitute is a 4 min song this track is over 6 mins, do the math.
TWAT in 1999 is a 5:01 min song, the recent leak is 6:50. We know these songs have multiple versions with multiple players and mixes...song length is not therefore a reliable indicator of the identity of a song.
#3 Prostitute is said to be a rocker and its like fire and ice. This song is neither.
Rocker is a subjective term, although i'll grant this isn't really a hard hard rock tune. But the "fire" and "ice" analogy holds up well when looking at the contrast between the casual verses (eg 3:21) and the explosive chorus parts (eg 3:46). it's all a matter of opinion....remember also this comes from a description from someone that heard the track a few times right? I mean how someone describes something can vairy wildly.
#4 Prostitute is also said to be one of the stongest songs on the album, while this track is good its not the best of the leaks which it would be if it was prostitute.
Again subjective. I find the lyrics and melody of this song haunting and compelling. The debate of what is the strongest track on the CD is endless. I love Maddy, yet a ton of people think its the weak link. The key is someone found prostitute to be the best track, doesn't mean it actually would be considered that way by you or another person.
#5 the only reason people think its prostitute is bc one lyric from the song MIGHT be prostitute, that still does not make it the title of the song.
I'm not going to rant about this again...but it is NOT from one lyric...it is the entire lyrical theme of the song. I've posted in detail earlier in the thead exact lines from the song which could support the title of prostitute.
So once again this song has been confirmed that its not prostitute.
No offence intended dave...you are a very well respected and valued memeber of the community. But I just don't agree. It seems to me like there is a lot of evidence showing it could be prostitute and the evidence against amounts to subjective descriptions/prefrences in songs, the words of people with vested interest like horders, and a fan basr that is hyped up about a song title to the point where nothing will satisfy.
I may be wrong, it might turn out not to be prostitute. But I don't feel the evidence is compelling against it yet, there is (currently) a lot more to suggest it is prostitute to me than isn't.

SLASH is set to form another supergroup for the launch concert at Las Vegas' Red Rock Resort.
The former Guns N' Roses star has recruited Alice In Chains star Jerry Cantrell and Led Zeppelin's Jason Bonham to his Blues Ball Band for the show on Saturday (05Jul08).
Liv Tyler's estranged husband Royston Langdon will also join the trio with other surprise guest artists planned.http://www.contactmusic.com/news.nsf/ar … nd_1073209

Oh...i hope someone records this...Blues Ball is always cool

#9030 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Duff Mckagan Doesn't Rule Out Guns N' Roses Reunion - July 2nd 2008 » 932 weeks ago
And I think Axl would spite himself and never sing again before abandoning his band for a reunion.
You may be right...especially now so long has passed and so much has gone on. Then again....in slash's book he talks of times Axl got angry and stormed off, then latter turned up a few days latter like nothing ever happened...and izzy is kinda transient...maybe they could all just reconviene in 2010 as if it were still 1994 and nothing ever went wrong!
