I know everyone loved the Attitude/NWO era and it was interesting, but I knew back then that while wrestling was very popular at the moment, it would NEVER recover from it. You CANNOT let the crowd in on the joke. You just cant. They did, and while it made wrestling a bit different seeing it from that perspective, they would never be able to sustain the interest.
I'm with Arn Anderson...destroy kayfabe=destroying wrestling.
Nice job Vince and Eric. For short term gains you destroyed it.
Everything that was wonderful about wrestling required that momentary suspension of disbelief to sustain interest. Its why people of all ages enjoyed it. A 10 year old and a 60 year old could both be in the same room glued to the television in suspense of what's going to happen. THat could NEVER happen now.
Matches don't matter
Titles don't matter
so its all worthless.
Sadly I agree with this. It's just different watching this stuff now. I don't think it has anything to do with me getting older. The presentation of the product is just so weird. It's like they totally de-emphasized the sport/competition aspect of it. Add in that they can't write for shit nowdays and that's why it's a huge giant turd.
Just looking at the ratings, they only pop a decent rating on the Raw after Wrestlemania. Their ratings have basically flatlined in the 3 million viewers range. This will get them lowballed when they go to renegotiate their deal with USA.

Did anyone watch the ending of Raw last night? That was hilarious for all the wrong reasons. I don't know which one was my favorite chant--the YES one or One More Time after HHH gives Reigns a pedigree on the steps.

Tell us why you really feel Atari
I still have to catch up on that last 2. Is it even worth it at this point?
That depends. Did you enjoy the first four eps? If you did, I'd just finish watching it. If you hated/lukewarm on them, I'd avoid it since you don't really get any closure on the finale and the writing is shitty for the last 2 episodes. I don't think it was as bad as that werewolf one though. That one was unwatchable.

I would vote against Trump. If Trump ran as an Independent and Hillary won the nod, I might consider voting for Rubio or Kasich as the Republican. No way would I support Cruz. Cruz might be more radical than Trump.
There is no way I would vote for either Kasich or Rubio. They are as dangerous as Trump. Read up on some of the stuff that Kasich has done in Ohio. It's probably not on Cruz's level on insanity but it's still bad. Rubio's an inexperienced empty suit.
I'd hold my nose and vote for Clinton.

This one was at least entertaining. But yeah, the non ending sucked and most of the writing/plot were suspect. Like how did Scully discover the cure so fast? This would have been better as a two hour/extended season finale instead of the usual hour.

God I loved Netflix back in 06-07. Watched so many foreign horror films I never would've watched without their existence.
In a couple years the DVD option wont even exist. Enjoy it while it lasts. The future is streaming and clouds. Physical products are having their coffins nailed shut.
They are introducing Ultra 4K Blurays into the market pretty soon. I don't think the physical products are going anywhere. DVD is in trouble though since their sales were way down.
Physical products will still be around in a few years. There is enough of a financial incentive for studios to keep on producing them. And it really annoys me how Netflix takes stuff off its streaming library randomly.
i for one totally embrace the cloud & digital distribution.
the amount of crap i have acquired over the years totally bums me out. rooms & roofspaces (attics is what theyre called across the pond) just full of stuff. i am a hoarder & p disorganised. so many towers of cd's/dvd's/blu-rays it's preposterous.the only thing i really miss from physical copies is boxart & specifically manuals for videogames. but they were a dying art long before the advent of the cloud/digital distribution.
obv there's only factors such as resale value, expense, bandwidth n shit.. but yea, i prefer to have my head in the cloud most definitely. it's the only place to be. better than tip-toeing thru perilious paths of stacks of stuff that could topple any moment.
LOL, this sounds just like me. It takes me likes 10-15 minutes to dig through the pile to find the movie I want. But still there is something comforting about being able to pop in a disc and just watch a movie whenever I really want. Sadly, I'd buy less movies if they weren't so fucking cheap! I picked up the entire series of the Tudors for $6 the other week.

Event Horizon - Haven't seen it in years. It has not aged well at all.
Any film though from the late 90's that decided to open with the words "The moon was colonized in 2015" obviously did not think things through. The CGI in this is TV show bad by today, but some members of that cast including Sam Neil and the actors who were always playing side roles in the other Hollywood blockbusters at the time must have been paid more than the effects budget for this film.
Interesting. I watched this a while back and came away happy. I had never seen the film and expected something awful. I don't think it is great or genre changing but it kept me entertained.
Another 90s Sci Fi (not a fan of the genre) film that I watched that impressed me was Gattaca. That one was actually pretty good.

It was another average episode for me. I hated the hallucination scene. Thankfully, this short season is ending next week. I'm just not entertained by the show (bits and pieces yes) for some reason. When I finished watching this I just thought it was a waste of time. The criticisms above are accurate--it seems like they are trying to shoehorn a whole bunch of stuff into a 45-50 minute episode and it just doesn't work.
The only episode I really enjoyed was the second one "Founder's Mutation" and that one focused on the main story/mystery for the most part.

Smoking Guns wrote:misterID wrote:Cam showed nothing to me to say he could win the game, which he didn't. He quit. Like a deer in headlights from the first quarter. You could see it on his face. The game was bad. Just bad. I think it was the worst quarterback performance in Superbowl history. QBRs of 13 and 10. Horrible. But at least Peyton had enough guts to throw himself on his fumbles.
Not sure if serious. Cam didn't play great but Jesus Christ they had 315 yards of offense... They drove plenty of times and kept turning the ball over. If the receivers catch the ball hard to see them losing. If the catch the ball Broncos don't get that first TD. I still think that was a catch, point is you can't make mistakes in a game like this. There were 4 HUGE drops. You sound more like a Cam hater than an objective football fan. Peyton was sad to see. He was really bad. But he is a great dude, despite the sexual assault in college and HGH scandal. He is a likeable dude.
I'm not a Cam hater, but like Andrew Luck, I don't buy the hype. Cam is very immature, and I'm not speaking of his celebrations, which I like and I love he gives the footballs to kids. But he doesn't have a lot of mental strength, like Luck doesn't have a clutch gene. Cam was affected more by his erratic play than drops. He doesn't know how to place a ball or how hard to throw. The pass Ginn dropped was way too hard on its placement. You have to help your receivers. The Broncos got in his head early and he quit. I've seen Alex Smith torch that defense with less weapons and an even shakier line, on top of Von Miller taking cheap shots to intentionally hurt him. It's about who is more mentally tough. Cam isn't there yet. He acted like a child throwing himself on the field. Have you ever seen another QB literally throw themselves on the field and thrtow a tantrum?
I'm a Chiefs fan, so I'm wasn't rooting for the Bronco's, or Manning. I was objective. I wasn't rooting for anyone. When they catch was challenged I knew it would stand, not because I was hoping it would because IMO the ground caused it to bobble.
You can tell when he's frustrated by his body language. He has some of the worst body language I've ever seen from a professional athlete. He also overthrew several open WR in the first half. That tantrum after the Anderson clinching TD was horrible. Odds are against them reaching the SB next year.

Trump definitely lost tonight when you look at the "expectations" game. Clinton and Sanders are in a dead heat right now. Rubio did better than expected so he's a winner. The rest of the Republican field doesn't have a chance. It's still a clusterfuck in the GOP. Sanders should win NH. The Southern States will be the real test. I still think Clinton comes out on top but it's still early.
I always wondered about Trump's "ground game" in Iowa. I wonder if it was a major factor in his showing tonight.
