But, I was refering to your suggestions - they are garbage. Those bands would hurt tickets sales. We need a band that has RELEVANCE and that appeals to young people, not old washed up "hair metal" fans bucket

and yes, Garbage would be a better choice than White Snake or Danger, Danger

True, but we have to take in account that RHCP would hit stage at 9pm and GNR wouldn't go on until 12am 16 Personally I won't show up to a GNR show again before 10:30pm and even that is early...I don't care who is opening, it's not worth it. I saw GNR 5 times in 2006 and only at Hammerstien did they still serve beer when GNR played. At the arenas I went to, the snack and beer tents where closed and employees where going home before GNR hit stage... So gay. I don't see Axl mending his ways..

Buzz is right. A summer 2009 tour, people will have forgotton all about CD at that point. They HAVE to kick off a big publicized New Year's Show (maybe simucast live on VH1 Classic & MTV2?), with tour dates starting no later than February 2009 imo.

And as for videos, I don't think Axl is in near as much of a bind as you think. They taped ALL the 2002 & 2006-07 shows, and they have TONS of stock footage.

All they'd have to do is mix n' match. Show concert footage of Axl, Ron, Richard, Tommy, Frank, Dizzy & Chris, and the parts with Bucket & Robin, just do story telling stuff, like footage of actors or SFX. Stock footage of a chopper flying over the ocean, or fans going to The Roxy, etc.

There's ways around it.

Bands tend to release live footage videos when they're on tour and wanna promote it, or as a farewell to the just-ended tour. I'd find it strange to release 2006-2007 footage in 2009, although it'd make more sense than not releasing any video for the singles.

I never said it made sense. This is Axl we're talking about now.
