Well to be honest, I felt like he has been dialing it in for a while now. I'd be irritated if he continued to do so with such a big opportunity here. This is going to be huge news, and if he gets up there and is lazy....what a waste.  If he showed up lean n' mean like 2006, that would be killer. I want to be optimistic, but I'm giving it 50/50.

He was not dialing it in during the 2014 residency when he performed two of the most difficult songs in the GN'R catalog, in TWAT and "Prostitute", IMO.

Those were good performances but he needs to be better as a whole. Especially now. His voice based on recent performances is not consistent. It's not at a level where it needs to be for something this big. I do have faith. If he wasn't up to the task I do not think this would be happening.

It really is bat shit crazy that the 06 comeback was 10 years ago. Also crazy that we only got one album and then a reunion in 10 years.

Phalangeal dexterity and vocal abilities can't be compared when it comes to rate of decay.  Should Axl still be able to sound 2006-ish?  I THINK so, but I have nothing to base this off of.  Having been in Atlanta both times in 2011, I'd say it was certainly possible 5 years ago, so I think he can.  Your football team seemed well versed in dismantling Michigan State, so don't worry on that.  bammer.

Haha!

Ronnie James  Dio (RIP)
Iron Maiden singer (fuck name escapes me)
Sammy Hagar
Mick Jagger
Steven Tyler
Judas Priest (name of singer escapes me again)

All SOUND amazing despite old age. Jagger sounds the worst but still decent.

Bruce Dickinson. Can't hit the high notes of old, but the new Iron Maiden album is really good.

Add Cornell to that list as well. Around the same age as Axl and he's still kicking ass. Like Dickinson he cant do certain things but no one really expects him to.

Jagger can still kick ass. I'd be happy as a pig in shit to get anything at that level. He's going on 70 and can still release killer material.

Jagger never sang like prime Axl even when Jagger was in his prime. Half the songs he would talk through them instead of singing them. Cornell has fallen off a lot from Audioslave/Casino Royale days but he has not had anywhere near the embarrassing moments Axl has had. But I think Axl in the studio can still kick ass.

How pissed will you be if Axl shows up  bloated and singing for shit?

I don't give a shit about Axl's weight. But vocally I hope he's spot on. If he's vocally there, people will forgive his weight (not that he's ever been fat, I wish people would shut up about that).

But this is ALL on Axl. If Axl wants his legacy to be the SUCKY ONE in the reunion, that's his choice, and the fall out will be all on him. His legacy will be on the line.

If he doesn't want to suck, he'll get in shape vocally, study hard, train hard, talk to experts on vocals, get a coach, surgery, change his vocal style and the key the songs are played in to adjust his vocals...

Whatever it takes to me a sound show.

I'm hoping, like the Izzy & Duff shows that Axl will show an entirely different energy to try harder and be better just by having guys like Slash & Duff there.
