Well, the answer is yes he was surveilled, but not for political purposes.

And the answer is yes, it was during Obama’s administration, so Trump can’t lose on this one.

Of course, when your team is doing illegal shit, this kind of thing happens.

It just hit me like a bolt of lightning...maybe I'm late to the party...

All these Trump appointees....all these judges and picks like Ben Carson and Devos....these people are obviously woefully unqualified for the positions they hold....but is it possible that this is intentional?

Competency and qualifications aren't important if all you want is compliance...the rule of the law and the spirit of the law doesn't even matter...just 100 percent compliance to an new rule or version of the law....all in complete congruence...

water down public education (make it cheaper or eliminate it all together)....continue to appoint people who are unqualified for their positions (mere puppets who owe their power and relevance solely to Trump/Republicans) who simply do what they're told....no critical thinking required....no skills required....

This isn't about anything other than obedience...strict adherence to the 'new rules' without even the slightest hint of the ability to think or a hint of a backbone.

A perfect streamline of government officials to create the illusion that government exists....when it's really just a giant pyramid of stooges carrying out a handful of goals created by people they will never meet or know exists...

It's really no wonder that so few people vote in this country....this whole thing is such a farce...

Re: US Politics Thread

continue to appoint people who are unqualified for their positions

This is my biggest problem with the Trump presidency and unfortunately it gets buried in all the Trump noise in general.

That was my biggest worry day one....that any legit issues would be drowned out. Trump hires an imbecile in a key position? Who gives a shit...he just walked up a flight of stairs and this is more important.

The media(BOTH sides) are to blame in how this presidency is covered. In their need for 24/7 coverage, its all just white noise. We've never seen anything like this and I wish people would resist it before it becomes the norm in how we cover presidents.

edit: I know some will say its always been like this.

They're wrong.

Of course presidents get daily coverage. Reagan or Clinton filmed waving to the crowd as they get off Air Force One and then a news clip of them speaking at a school and then more footage as they board Air Force One.

This is different.

Breaking News.....Trump walks up flight of stairs. Five minutes later....Breaking News....Trump has a drink of water.  Five minutes later.....A panel of talking heads have a thirty minute bitch fest discussing the size of Trump's hands.

Its incessant and its destructive. Its ruining news and the constant partisan bickering is making the divide worse. Mix this toxicity in with social media and we now have grandmas who are instant experts on all issues and they've got the memes to prove it.

That's why a chief of staff is so important. Priebus deserves a lot of blame for the staffing.

I agree with a lot of this...but I still think it's only this way because it's what people demand. If they covered the news like they did 35 years ago, the rating would plummet. You know this is true! The news is almost solely talking heads now delivering blatantly slanted opinions.

It's like that song Dirty Laundry by Don Henley but on steroids now.

When the media devotes endless hours of programming on a porn star's lawyer, who really keeps playing them and delivering nothing, it should tell you everything. Especially when CNN staff like Don Lemon parties with him on weekends.

And their ratings are through the roof....

They make money hand over fist....

The biggest hypocrites of them all are the ones that scream ‘fake news’ while simultaneously tuning into it.

News isn’t news anymore because everyone has decided what they want they hear before turning on the tv. This isn’t the media’s fault....it’s America’s fault...

Or is media exempt from capitalism?

You keep saying media when what you really mean is broadcast news.
