I was just as shocked as you were when I saw this, but then I looked up inflation and the current cost of a quarter pounder.  According to this site, .70 cents in 1974 is equal to $3.86 in 2021:  https://www.usinflationcalculator.com/

This site says the cost of quarter pounder today is $3.79.

Inflation is a bitch.

But here's a fun one for the $15 an hour crowd.  The minimum wage was increased to $2 an hour in 1974.  That translates to $11.02 in 2021.

One thing to take into consideration when comparing between now and then is quality.

McDonald's...and most fast food restaurants...are serving low quality products across the board. Meat, buns, fries, etc.

Back in those days, the beef was damn good. The filet o fish used better fish before they had to switch. The buns not only tasted better, they were bigger. Fried pies were amazing.

The fries....cooked in tallow....earned the best fries in the world label.

While the prices may be similar taking inflation into account, imagine how much this stuff would cost now if serving the same ingredients.

This would really be the case for Taco Bell. That menu was made fresh in the store daily...they even had to grate the lettuce, cheese, and dice the tomato, onions, and olives.

Now all that shit comes in huge bags ready to go.

It's sad when you think about it. Hell...even pizzerias ain't what they used to be.
