Re: NFL 2025
Longtime Colts fan, dating back to #4 who coaches the other LA team.
That brings back memories. That 95 team was one catch away from being the greatest Cinderella team in league history. Their ascent was so unlikely...but it happened. I didn't like the Colts or Harbaugh but I was glued to the TV.
I wish it had happened. Colts vs Cowboys would've been much better than what we got. That Cowboys team was just begging to be upset.
God I miss the real NFL.
This past off-season I watched a hefty portion of the 1998-99 season. God that Jets team was killer. Everyone looks back on that season and dream of the Vikings making the Superbowl. That Jets team was just as deserving.
They just couldn't stop that Broncos machine.

This is my first year watching football. Never had any interest before but man does it get intense.
Let's go Texans! ??
Re: NFL 2025
Bat poop crazy week....
Chiefs officially knocked out of the playoffs...and the cherry on top of their shit sundae is Mahomes going down for a year with a torn ACL.
Throw me in with the group who believes we're witnessing the end of an era....Chiefs dynasty is over. The only question is which team is going to step into the breech and replace them on the pedestal.
AFC is now wide open.
Bengals knocked out of playoff contention.... showing how weak this division is right now. They shouldn't have been in contention at this point.
If the Ravens are going to go on a run....the time is NOW.
The Patriots faced a major test....and lost. Quickly taking a 21-0 lead and then falling apart is not a good sign heading towards the playoffs. They still have a shot at the division and #1 seed....can't lose any more.
Broncos continue to look impressive while pretty much being ignored by everyone. They're reminding me of the 98 Falcons.
First team to clinch a playoff spot in the AFC.
Chargers continue to win but not a lot of consistency. They could go into the playoffs winning a wild card in a blowout....or lose 30-3.
The Philip Rivers saga would be so much more interesting if Indiana Jones had went down a month ago when Colts were #1. It would've allowed Rivers a few losses to get his 'sea legs'. Instead he's in a situation that allows few mistakes and requires the Jaguars and Texans to go on losing streaks.
He played ok under the circumstances but holy shit.... he's slow as molasses and clearly can't throw deep or accurately. It was 99% screen passes.
Rams first team to clinch a playoff spot in the NFC.
Another massive blow....Micah Parsons out for a year with a torn ACL. Huge implications for the playoffs....many expected a deep run into the playoffs....maybe SB. The Bears are now in the driver's seat in that division.
Lions now highly unlikely to make the playoffs. Only chance is if Green Bay collapses after the Micah injury and Lions win the last 3....the final game against Chicago.
The Bucs are in full blown collapse mode. One of the top NFC teams the first half of the season and one of the worst in the second. Their only prayer is for the Panthers to keep losing.
Neither team deserves to go to the playoffs....but will get in by default. I say it every year but the NFL needs to update the playoffs structure.....allow the top teams in.... regardless of division.
They should've fixed this decades ago.
Cowboys pretty much out of the playoffs. They showed some promise earlier this season but did what the Cowboys usually do. Eagles just need one win to take the division.
The playoff bracket if the season ended today....

Some killer matchups there.
Re: NFL 2025
Anyone watch the Steelers-Dolphins game?
What an abomination.
The Dolphins literally gave up in the 3rd quarter.
Total yards for the Dolphins in that quarter?
-20 yards
My grandma could've at least gained a yard or two.
Fourth quarter even worse just in a different way....no hurry up offense whatsoever. They were playing like they were winning 42-0.
Only highlight of the game was Aikman and Buck ranting about how unacceptable it is.
Tua earns 53 million a year to laugh/smile while he loses.
The NFL has massive problems.
Re: NFL 2025
Probably not the reply you want.
Was there ever a time when American sports were not a cartel? Parity in sport sucks. Seeing the same thing over in Europe with all the money flowing in. Everything sanitized, everybody allowed to compete. Keep the money flowing. Sport is fun when it is brutal. It's supposed to be a substitute for war, not this nerdy shit. Players are worse too. Bunch of dandies.
Our generation got to experience the final chapter of the golden age (90s-mid 00s).
It's been in a tail spin ever since. Mitch brought up some of the main issues....
Neutering/sanitizing the game to the point it will be flag football within 10-15 years.
The Pro Bowl is already flag football!!!
College football players back in the day were penalized/banned if they got a single nickel from the college.
They now earn millions a year and everyone is ok with this.
I wish I could find the article from around 20 years ago that was eerily accurate regarding how parity would destroy the league. Not only predicted the continued massive success of Belichick-Brady but also predicted another team would instantly take over when their run was over.
That's exactly what happened!
We're about to witness it again now that the Chiefs run is ending. The only question is which team. It's probably time for Belichick to come back.
Another thing destroying the league is the constant promotion and obsession with betting. Back in the day, they couldn't even mention this shit.
Now the league sponsors it!
This is all leading to a massive scandal of rigged games. It's inevitable.
I just wish the Bears or Ravens could win one more Superbowl before the whole thing comes crashing down.
Re: NFL 2025
I’ll just respond to a bunch of Lofton’s points w/out quoting (sorry I’m lazy).
I think the AFC might be Denver. The other teams just look so unconvincing. The second best team to me might be Houston. I would have really shaky faith in the rest of the teams . Would LOVE for LAC to make a run but they are injured as fuck and teams with OT5 and OT6 as starters usually fail.
NE is massively over performing. Their RZ defense will be their downfall. I wish Buffalo played defense better. Something seems off with the Ravens. I suspect that the last game w/BAL @PIT will decide the division.
NFC is easier it’s basically the NFC West teams . The Packers aren’t totally dead yet w/the Parsons injury . But they are def behind those 3 teams . I got Rams, Niners, Seattle. Seattle is last of those because I don’t trust Darnold in the playoffs.
Bears just don’t have enough offense. It’s funny they are succeeding mainly with…turnovers and a power run game . It doesn’t matter who the qb is. It always comes back to that. NFC south division winner not even worth mentioning.
Re: NFL 2025
As far as problems with the current game, it’s too soft and the ref work is god awful . It ain’t NBA bad but it’s getting close.
As far as the college guys getting paid, the system they have now is ridiculous. Guys are just hoping from one team to the next and just seeing what team will pay the most or offer the most playing . It’s just comical.
I don’t watch NCAA football anymore outside of the playoffs.

.
Yeah, I don't understand why they don't get 1 transfer per career. After that, they gotta redshirt. Its pretty absurd the whole school hopping, its like free agency each year and makes it a lot harder to root for or follow a school. Most seem to have a new QB each year.
